Would a Sun-orbiting solar farm be a highly efficient way to power Earth, or would solar paneling the Sun be too much energy to handle? Let's see what would happen if we surrounded our Sun with solar panels. How would we get all that power back to Earth, and how would we build these solar panels?

If some of the sun energy is lost and reflected because of earths atmosphere I think that a good step to that direction would be to put up some solar panels on the L1 lagrange point. Still, we had to think about how we would deal with the radiation being send back to earth without being fried.

I mean, you could use some kind of energy absorbtion unit on every section on the Dyson Sphere that can transport the energy through space, or two energy converters that can change the sun's energy into electricity instantaneously, then through super durable massive wires that connect to the Dyson Sphere, send them to an absorber region of the Earth to bring the energy to all plants that can take it. To completely surround the sun with a habitable sphere that we could live on and that would also allow us to harvest nearly 100% of the sun's output was proposed a long time ago by a scientist named Dyson. Thus the name for such a structure, the Dyson Sphere.

Actually, the sun would shrink first, then go nova and expand into a red giant out to the orbit of Mars. The Dyson sphere wouldn't be able to contain the expanding red giant.
Plus, it would be a looooooooong time before the sun burned out, going through many phases before burning out.

I like this video, but I thought of a serious downside. If humanity used all of the Sun's energy, there wouldn't be any left to power photosynthesis. As a result, all life on land and in the photic zone of the oceans would die out. Infinite energy vs the worst extinction event in Earth's history. Not a good trade-off, in my opinion. 😓

You have to Advance the Battery first that can store energy without aging and more capacity in mini scale without any problems. Then put the solar panels in space rather than in the earth as earth has only limited sunlight. If the batteries were charged in space then harvest them and export them to the earth.

Why are we trying to get the power back to Earth? If you're making a structure around the Sun, then you might as well just house everyone on it. It will have a much larger surface area than Earth with that diameter, which means way more room for our increasing population. With all that energy we wouldn't really need to worry about efficiency at first. You could have all the food and trees and stuff growing on the opposite side, and reflect sun around or even use full spectrum bulbs to provide the light needed for the plants to grow inside the giant structure. Put all the water in panels or pipes on the surface facing the sun to heat everything inside, provide steam power, and block some of the radiation. We could even make giant electromagnets around the structure to block some of the radiation, much like how Earth does. Removing all or most the humans from Earth will let it restore itself a bit and let some of the other animal populations grow, or just mine it to the core and bring everything to the megastructure with us, like an ark. We could try crashing Jupiter into the sun first to make it more dense, and we could feed it more planets periodically to prevent it from collapsing on itself and destroying everything, but that would also mean we would have to find a way to redirect the sun so we can travel to other systems to use them as fuel. So I guess the main concerns are steering the sun, and making sure we have enough water for everyone, the plants, and the animals. We have a ton of water in the oceans we aren't really using, so that could sustain us for a few hundred thousand years while our sun makes the journey between systems. It would be a hard decision to tear apart our solar system and get rid of all the planets at first, but if that's what it takes to ensure the survival of the human race then I'm sure we would do it if we had to. It would seem like less of a big deal once we've done it, and, I mean, there are how many other planets in the universe? So who really cares if we have to sacrifice a few uninhabited planets to survive and travel to another solar system?

How would they get the power collected from space to Earth?? My thought is that they're making things too complicated. Instead, increase the efficiency of ground based solar so it can be installed on homes and the power generated would be more than needed. For big cities, they'd have to use Nuclear or other since it's hard to power Manhattan with that setup..

Wouldn't it be better to build factories on Mercury to construct the solar power satellites? Cheaper in the long run than shipping millions of solar panels into space. I'd put the solar panels just inside of Mercury's orbit, so some of them could power the infrastructure and factories on Mercury to build more solar power satellites (SPS). It wouldn't be a solid structure, just a swarm of SPS's orbiting the sun at an angle so that the earth and the other planets would still get their normal amount of sunlight.
For power transmission, forget microwaves. You could use high power lasers to beam power to earth orbiting stations, then relay it down to surface stations built to absorb the energy without heating up the atmosphere or frying the population. You would need to build these stations at high altitudes and away from population centers as well as flight paths of course.
Long term, you could use the power and set up an antimatter factory or 10,000 or so of them on Mercury, turning locally mined materials into antimatter - the biggest issue so far with making antimatter seems to be the enormous power requirements needed to create such exotic material and then to contain it safely - then ship it to power plants on earth or wherever needed. Also it would make good fuel for starships. Or bombs, knowing humanity.
