OMFG can we just appreciate how many times Loyd had to do double passages to set up camera and pick it on this run... Wild. Thanks for the effort mate keeps the flow of the video super nice
this kinda seems like the gravel bike of shoes. decent on a number of different surfaces without really exceeding at either extreme end of the spectrum. probably the most true “road to trail” shoe I’ve ever seen.
Another very interesting Merrell shoe, thanks Loyd. Though im a bit concerned about the Hoka comparison cause I've never had a Hoka shoe that worked for my feet. Just don't like them. Next up Puma which looks very very promising so waiting for that one
I've worn through several pairs of Merrell walking shoes over the years and currently have a pair of their lightweight walking boots now. Always comfortable and well made, would be very interested to wear these on my trail runs.
Great review Loyd, I was thinking about putting these for my favourite local run. It’s 6 miles, 3 tarmac and 3 trail (a mixture of grass, gravel, hard pack and a bit of softer ground). The only issue I have is that every time you recommend something I tend to buy it which puts me in the doghouse with her indoors.
It would handle that route well Richard but you do realise you don’t have to buy them! 😂😂 Thanks for watching and supporting the channel it’s really appreciated 🙏
I see these as a good compliment for the Agility peak. The Peak 5 has a very aggressive outsole that works really well in most conditions, but on roads or indoors or treadmills they do feel a bit luggy. Not quite a cleat but it's unabashedly a trail shoe. And running on very flat surfaces gives me what I call the "square wheels" as the rubber slaps the concrete and I feel every corner of each lug. And it's got a lot of that rubber and whatnot in there to keep water out but that makes it not super breathable. The morphlite fills in where the peak 5 leaves off. On hard road conditions, there is soft strips of lugs that are nearly buried in the soft foam. I get none of that "slap the pavement" or "square wheels" feeling. It's about as close as you can get to running directly on a midsole. And the extra stretchy and roomy upper is nice for recovering to accommodate swelling. Plus it's super light. I actually think they're a bit soft for me. I like the more structured feel of the agility peak. Even as a daily shoe. But the morphlite has a lot of comfort built in. When Loyd said "I didn't mean to run nearly that far" I knew exactly what he meant. It's a shoe that makes me want to run, even when I don't feel like running. And that's why I say it's a compliment. For $100 it's a great shoe for hard roads, treadmills, recovering, and hot days during both weeks of UK summer.
Obviously the Agility Peak 5 is an out and out trail running shoe so they’re definitely not designed for running on a treadmill! I personally think it handles the road quite well for a trail shoe and I’ve never had any issues running short sections of road in them. I’m glad you’re enjoying the Morphlite and thanks for watching 🙏🙂
This is just what I’m looking for for a single shoe option for travel! I’m another note, I use Saucony XU2 but am going to give the Agility Peak 5 a try, would you say sizing is the same for those two?
Im also size 9.5US in almost all of my shoes. I have a low volume midfoot. With agility peak 5 i sized down a half (9US) to solve the lockdown issue. The length is still enough though. That would be the case with this shoe for me. Love to try it soon when available here.
I’ve got the Agility Peak 5 and I’ve obviously just run in the Morphlite, both shoes are a uk9.5 and the two shoes do fit differently at the mid foot. I don’t have any lock down issues in the Agility Peak 5, it fits my mid foot much better 👍
You should test the Merrel MTL LONG SKY 2. Drop 4mm (19,5mm-23,5mm). Vibram Megagrip 5mm lugs. They're coming also in new version with Matrix upper soon...
Pyooma....not pooma, would be my guess, Loyd. Like Adidas is not Adeedas, but Adi-das....from the founders name Adolf (Adi) Dassler. His brother Rudolf founded Puma, as no doubt you and many of your followers know. I'm just full of useless information. Great video Loyd... looks a good shoe for the price.
@ I used to work in the running industry for 10 year and I carried out 1,000’s os gait assessments and that’s not always the case. Like most trail shoes the Merrell shoe is neutral in its structure levels. As runners we can get away with a lot less support in our shoes when we’re running on the trails because the terrain is softer and less repetitive than the roads. I hope this helps you and thanks for watching 🙏
@@Run4Adventure Please tell me how quickly this will happen?? I had Merrell Agility Peak 4. After 4 months of walking around the city, the sole on the heel wore out. Will these be the same quality??

Thanks Loyd, an interesting shoe, if I’d not just shelled out on the new INOV8 Trailfly Speed I think I’d have been on this. Next time may be.
Hope you’re enjoying your Inov8’s Stuart 👍
Great review, looking forward to the puma review 👍
Cheers, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 🙏🙂
Would it be fair to say this would be a good winter shoe? For extra grip in the colder/wetter weather?
Looks nice shoe. I would be very interested about your opinion about New Balance Fresh Foam Garoé , or new balance fresh foam hierro v7
Another great video review. Thank you 😊 I became addicted to your videos
Really glad you’re enjoying the content on the channel, thanks for watching! 👍🙂

Cheers Dan 👍🙂
If you can get a place try Race to the Stones, 100km in one day or over the Saturday and Sunday.
It’s the wrong time of year unfortunately, I’ve already got races booked in for July 👍
So did you have a tailwind blowing you home? Great vid!! Loving my Agility peak 5 s
I sure did! It was tough going on the way out but the wind definitely gave me a push all the way home 👍

Looks like the old Montrail Rogue Racer.

👍🏻 💪🏻 Looks great ‼️
Could be a good shoe for SDW100 in June? Hard packed trails with quite a few road sections.
I think I’d want a bit more cushioning for 100 miler Ian 👍🙂
ah ok, Thanks Loyd. I always think of new shoes to try and always end up back with SpeedGoats 🤦♂
Are these shoes suitable for people with wide feet? Great video btw.
They do have a fair bit of room in the toe box, it just depends how wide your feet are? Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 👍🙂
Thanks mate for your review, this was very informative and helpful, would you recommend this for treadmill running too?
Really glad you enjoyed the video! It’s not really designed to run on a treadmill but it would be ok 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
are they recommended for flat feet?
What do you mean by flat feet? 🤔
@@Run4Adventure people with very low medial arches and those who tend to overpronate.

@@uragodpax0921 No problem 👍
👍🏻👍🏻
What about durability? If you walk on asphalt, won't your heel wear out quickly?
You’ll always wear the outsole down quicker by using them on asphalt 👍
