ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ ਜੀ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਅਤੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ (1553-1643) ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਸਨੇ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ, ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਨਿਰਸਵਾਰਥ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਲਈ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨ:
1553 ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿੰਡ ਫਫੜੇ (ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਬਠਿੰਡਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ, ਪੰਜਾਬ) ਵਿੱਚ ਜਨਮੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਸੰਪਰਦਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਸਨ, ਜੋ ਰਹੱਸਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਤਮਿਕਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਏ। ਇਸ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਚੇਲਾ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਆ।
ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਲਈ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ:
ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ ਨੇ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ 'ਤੇ ਇੱਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਏ।
ਉਸਾਰੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਇੱਟਾਂ ਬਾਕੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚਮਕਦਾਰ ਲਾਲ ਸਨ। ਪੁੱਛਣ 'ਤੇ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਇੱਟਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਰਸਵਾਰਥ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਟੁੱਟ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ, ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੋਂ," ਜਿਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ "ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੋ।"
ਇਹ ਵਾਕੰਸ਼ ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਹੋਰ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ:
ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿਲੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ, ਦਿਆਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਲਈ ਜਾਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਉਸਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਲੰਗਰ (ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਰਸੋਈ) ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ।
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹ, ਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਰਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

Bhai Behlo Ji was a prominent Sikh devotee and servant who lived during the time of Guru Arjan Dev Ji (1553-1643). He played a significant role in the construction of the Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple, and is remembered for his selfless service and devotion to the Guru.
Early Life and Conversion:
Born in 1553 in the village of Phaphre (present-day Bathinda district, Punjab), Bhai Behlo initially belonged to the Sultani sect, which worshipped the graves of mystics.
He later met Guru Arjan Dev Ji and was deeply impacted by his teachings and spirituality. This encounter led him to convert to Sikhism and become a devoted disciple of the Guru.
Contributions to the Harmandir Sahib:
Bhai Behlo dedicated himself to the construction of the Harmandir Sahib, carrying bricks and other materials on his head from Amritsar to the construction site.
During the construction, Guru Arjan Dev Ji noticed some bricks were brighter red than the others. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that these were the bricks carried by Bhai Behlo.
Recognizing his selfless service and unwavering devotion, Guru Arjan Dev Ji praised Bhai Behlo, saying, "Bhai Behlo, Sab Ton Pehlon," which means "Bhai Behlo, you are first of all."
This phrase became a testament to Bhai Behlo's dedication and earned him a place of honor in Sikh history.
Other Contributions and Legacy:
Bhai Behlo was known for his humility, kindness, and willingness to help others.
He actively served the Guru and the Sikh community, contributing to Langar (community kitchen) and other tasks.
He championed the rights of all, regardless of their religion, and preached the message of liberation from attachment, fear, and dependence.
Bhai Behlo's life and teachings continue to inspire Sikhs and people of all faiths to embrace selfless service, devotion, and compassion.
