    I've been asked many times to design and build a wall mount arcade (or wall hanging arcade) over the years. Well you asked for it and here it is! I could not be more thrilled with how this one turned out either. Such a gorgeous arcade! I decided to go with a while and red theme on this one and wow it does not disappoint!

      Do you think that the default control board in the plans for this build would be large enough to accommodate a 2-player 6 button configuration? Maybe by moving the coin and start buttons to the front?

    • @emmathomson2584
      @emmathomson2584 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@epicgamescorp definitely lots of room to accommodate a few buttons on the front panel & on both side panels. I did 6 on my front and two on each side - just be careful where you drill them of course

  • @Dukefazon
    @Dukefazon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No fancy tools are needed but I recommend having a router with a straight bit, it helps a lot. You don't even need a table saw or a bandsaw or anything that usually is needed for a nice square cut.
    There are many button layout designs out there, look them up. Decide how many buttons you want and go with a familiar arrangement (like Street Fighter for example). One thing to note is that you can't out the button holes too close to each other because they have an overhanging top and a nut from the underside.

    What size Forstner bit are you using here?

    • @wuushew
      @wuushew 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      use 28mm for large buttons and 24mm for small. A lot of the plans for the controls are shown from above which gives the impression that is 30mm. This is true only when measuring including the button collar which sits on the smaller hole. Metric is the correct size, but there are close English equivalents if you are a pinch.

  • @Muldrf
    @Muldrf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I used a jigsaw and circular saw to cut out the parts for my Bartop Arcade out on my back steps using your plans. It was just fine. I did assembly in my basement with the cleats , glue and a brad gun which I already had. It would have been about as easy to predrill and use regular screws. I did pickup a slot cutting bit for the tmoulding from Harbor Freight and a cheaper Forstner bit from Amazon. You could skip the tmolulding, and ya you can use a even cheaper butterfly type drill bit. Two coats of spray can primer, two coats of spray paint and a coat of clear over it, all out in the back yard with light sanding between layers. It doesn't take a lot of fancy tools or a shop to put these together. I might have built this version over the bartop if it had been available at the time.

    Thank you for posting this! I’m building my first arcade in a box this weekend to become familiar with Raspberry Pi, Retropie and working with the controls. I’d like to build a larger machine after that. I was thinking a cocktail table, but this form factor might be an even better solution. Great points about the tools as well. There are lots of potential solutions. Tools can make things a little quicker and a bit more precise, but there are ways to get there with basic stuff as well.

    Is this monitor the only one that will work? I'm assuming any other one will need to have exact dimensions?

      Any monitor of similar dimensions should work fine.

    I was wondering if something like this could just be done with a jig and some wood glue. You have confirmed and reinforced my belief. Thank you. Going to try making something like this now.

    Since you have the stickers you could have put border frame around the monitor to cover the brand name of the monitor (Acer)..it just makes it more arcade-like.

    One thing I have noticed,
    Mike is different from his brother.
    He, like his brother, have so much passion for technology.
    But mike has a lot more engineering skills, and in my opinion, a more happier personality

    Doing this with a jig saw would be an expensive exercise in futility unless you have the equipment necessary to correct the sloppy jig saw cuts.

    Love the content! Watched your new electronics workshop video and said hmm this guy reminds me of the 8-bit guy. Halfway through oh yeah that's why 😂.

    You still got a lot of space on the control pannel...you could have put in a trackball. One thing I like using raspberry pi is that it doesn't take up a lot of space and emits less heat and it requires less power than a pc. You could have put a coin receptor slot on the side. I like the coin-inserted sound in the arcade..it reminds of me of the old arcade machine.

    Cool video. Nice work with minimal tools. Please use a push block when ripping on the table saw. Had to stop watching the video and skip around that point in the video!

    How do you setup a wireless controller to be player one? I have a two player arcade with joy sticks and button but most of the time I like to use my wireless controller. The wireless controller get pushed back to Player 3 and will not work unless I unplug the joy stick USB controllers.

    Yes!!!!! I've been waiting forever for this. I purchased tour plans for the full size arcade and finished the build a year ago. Can't wait to purchase these plans and get started. Thanks!!!!!
