I still think it was pointless to give superman the black suit in this movie. He should have worn the blue and red suit for that final shot of them all together
But showing him with the black suit foreshadows that the justice league will be broken and effected by Superman’s actions point to him choosing the black suit instead of the red and blue. The reason he’s wearing the blue and red one when the injustice timeline starts is because he believes that he is the greatest protector of earth even tho he is a dictator. @@OReily08080I agree. And what's REALLY sad was, before the Snyder Cut, the tv DC universe was more accurate than any of the movies before ZSJL as far as secondary characters go. Minus the first Wonder Woman. That was a pretty good origin story.
@@warrioroffpeace3673 I mean, it fucking better with a runtime of 4 hours. Kind of hard not to accomplish that feat given that much time. The most popular superhero movies accomplished that with great backstory and storytelling for origin films, patience not to rush anything/leaving us anticipated for the next one, and an actual appropriate runtime for a movie.
The Black suit was because that was the real suit of the house of El. When Zod took off his armor. He had his house armor. It's a symbol that he (Clark) honors that he is Kryptonian not human
When Cyborg was in the Kryptonian ship, he saw visions of Lois being dead. Maybe that's one memory that Superman had after being back from the dead and that's why he was attacking the Justice League. Cause he thought Lois is dead because of the same vision that Cyborg had. That's why he really thought of batman as his enemy while ignoring the rest of the league as mere pawns. But when he saw Lois being alive, he quickly snapped out of it.
No hats a vision of the future. In the future darkseid kills Lois to mentally break Superman and make him evil and work for him. Do you know what injustice is? It’s a very well known alternate timeline where Superman is evil.

Exactly. I suspect HBO wanted to release it in weekly episodes but Snyder was against this and the compromise was doing a 4 hour film in parts which could be watched in parts. Most people binge shows for way longer than 4 hours anyway so isn’t that the same thing.
I read somewhere that Junkie XL say that he was inspired by THE IMMIGRANT SONG by Led Zeppelin for Wonder Woman's theme. So, that song is truly divine.

@Bert Rogan right lol quit complaining obviously the movie should have been at least this good to begin with we all know that ... at least we got it ..... if they did it right the first time we could be on to the sequel by now ...
It is strange that Darkseid and his forces forgot they left the Mother Boxes on Earth and forgot thats where he found or revealed (not sure which) the Anti-Life equation? That was strange.
@@norym823 that’s why the GoT shot was so funny.... the writing that last season was notoriously bad, and every time a character did something stupid, and people asked the writers why, they’d answer “uh, she/he/they kind of forgot...” It’s just an excuse for trash-tier writing.
I really liked the movie. The only thing I could remember from the "original" Justice league was....some weird boxes and superman resurrection. That's it. Was that also the movie where superman moved an entire building in a sort of "funny race" with the flash? Anyhow, I had no desire to watch it ever again. Snyder's cut was on the other hand very cohesive, everything made sense to me, 4 hours flew by like nothing. I know he wasn't involved with it, but I'd totally vote for him to reshoot WW84 too :D
In the end of the movie when Batman buys Superman’s mother’s farm back, Batman’s says to Superman, “By the way, congratulations.” That’s a congratulations on Lois being pregnant.
@@guedes28 it's not good for film directors, specifically Snyder. Snyder specifically chose the square aspect ratio to be featured in IMAX theaters. If he where able to submit this to theaters as he originally wanted it definitely would NOT be 4 hrs. Theaters HATE super long flicks. He'd barely be able to get away with 3 hrs, and this movie could definitely be cut down to 2hrs 30min. Early Lois Lane scenes? Don't need'em. Early Ma Kent scenes? Don't need'em. Martian Manhunter? Makes no sense whatsoever. Aquaman's choir? WTF, man. Cutting 2-5 minutes here and there could've definitely helped the movie go much more smoothly.
@Alonzo Richardson It dependts on the point of view. A few years ago this movie wasn't even a reality, we were all believing that Snyder's view for the JLA was done for. In the middle of a pandemic, with theaters closed, he managed to launch this movie. And right on it's first week of release, HBO Max servers crashed, critics and audience ratings are very good and a sequel maybe a thing now, at least more now than it ever was. So i don't believe Zack it's that disappointed with the overcome. And i for one think that this scenes with Lois and Martian Manhunter give more depth to other characters, expanding the world in a little rushed way, given all the delay with these past years. But i also think that some scenes could be taken off.
Can you do a video of the difference between what was filmed and what ended up being the Snyder cut (Other than Cgi upgrades)? I can’t remember much different footage, other than some minor dialogue changes, exposition and extended scenes.
If you listen closely to that scene, it talks mainly about Clark being the hope that cuts thru the dark so I feel the black suit was chosen based on how he was feeling and a cullmination of his various lessons from his fathers
I actually thought it was gonna be longer. Now I wanna see the darkseid fight haha I think superman choose the black suit to regenerate or to power up. Because there was a scene where he flew into space to look at the sun. In other movies and the comics he does this intentionally to get a power boost or go max power. Which would explain why steppenwolf was so easily defeated.
This is what I was thinking as well. Though, given the mentioned lack of subtlety Snyder has for Biblical symbolism, I can see this scene read that way too.
@@DCGX But I don't know if you really need to pay attention to the Biblical symbolism to watch and understand the movie. Or that it needs to be subtle for that matter. I mean does anyone think the Titanic pose is a Jesus symbolism?
Great break down Ryan, I loved the film and found it not as long as it actually is. The way you touched on the help number at the end brought a genuine tear to my eye..
Loved this new cut. I didn't mind the 4 hr run time since we're not in the theater. Now I'm praying that Henry Cavill will stay and make a few more appearances. I would love to see more solo movies from the league.
In the whedon cut, stephenwolf is kind of more powerful and he sees everything from the team/humanity - kryptonians, lanterns as inferior. If you notices, you'll see that shephenwolf was actually shielding himself from the barrage of bullets from the nightcrawler when cyborg took over it and was shooting at him. He wouldn't be pissing something he is protecting himself from.
@@xposed7688 he’s allowed to have an opinion when he says the character’s name is STEPHEN WOLF?! Ok man. Whatever you say. 😂😂😂 and even subjectively, that scene was awful as was Steppenwolf’s design and character motivations. It’s not shitting on an opinion if said opinion is blatantly idiotic and non-sensical.
i think clark wore the black suit because it's the colour of death and he just came from the dead. also, it could've been an aesthetic choice because it straight-up looks badass and makes the fight scenes against steppenwolf more epic and snyder was clearly going for an epic, dramatic vibe. simple.
The black suit isn’t only a reference to the comics it’s also a call back to Man of Steel. Remember that the Kryptonians, like Jor-El & Zod, wore black suits exactly like that under their armor. Remember that Clark briefly had one on during his face to face with Zod in the scene where Superman sunk into the sea of skulls.
I think the thought behind it was good but it was very poorly executed in that scene in Whedon cut. And not written very well either. When Batman replies to Cyborg's idea that they should keep moving saying that that's just a way to lose slowly - that's a very good showcase of the experience you speak of.
@@AlonzoCRichardson Even though that dialogue exchange wasn't in the film, the same sentiment remains in the action - you see Barry entertainingly using his speed to avoid hits from the Parademons and then lightly pushing one into a wall. Bruce tells him to save the hostages and he does, with Cyborg's help.
I miss Flash’s theme from the Whedon cut, I also liked the lines “if these are gifts, why am I the one paying for them?” And “we have families!” “Why does everyone keep telling me that?”. This movie is miles better than the 2017 version and I hope we see the continuation of this universe.
Black suit mirrors his father Jar-EL’s suit in men of steel when he fights Zod’s army on Krypton, it links well with the scene especially because Kal EL hears his father’s voice(s)
For me, a black outfit doesn't mean hopelessness. Instead, an outfit that goes out of its way to not have black, or shadow, or incorporate darkness suggests the wearer believes they can prevent all bad things. The thing they hope for is not happily ever after, it's happily ever always, happily has been and always will be. Wearing black, like Batman, shows a hope that your sorrow can be the last. It acknowledges the pain that your failures have brought, and uses them to motivate yourself to prevent further tragedy. That said, *all* black outfits are a bit much.
One scene that I was bummed out they didn't include was the "Accidents" scene between Victor and Barry. It perfectly reflected the chemistry that they had behind the scenes and I would actually prefer that from Zack's "Do you think she (Diana) would settle for a younger guy?" or something around those lines. But overall, this was a beautiful movie and an exhilarating experience. If Zack ever reads TH-cam comments, Thank You for not giving up on us and making one of the best superhero movies that I've ever seen!
I don't have a line of dialogue that I wish was left in, but I do have one I'm glad was taken out. Superman to Batman...("You won't let me live, you won't let me die.")
Great video. I just recently watched the movie for the first time after watching the theatrical version. I loved all the easter eggs you pointed out. Keep up the great work
I liked this version more too. The one line I miss, was when Cyborg and Wonder Woman are talking on the street about him and he says, "If these are gift's, then why am I paying for them?" One of my favorite lines from the movie.
But see it's a bit wrong use of the idiom I feel. You'd never say "I did wrong and I'm paying for it", it would be "I did wrong and I'm paying the price for it". Nitpick I know but I sense a little weirdness in that line. Tbh, I find the Snyder cut line "What part of this looks like gifts to you?" sounds a bit more of a natural response.
I just noticed Something.... Not Sure If this was intentional, But when the league was facing Darkseid through the portal, the only heroes who are framed in the scene is Cyborg, Superman, Batman & Flash, leaving out Aquaman & Wonder Woman.... A reference to the that Knightmare scene that Cyborg saw when resurrecting Superman and the one at the end with Joker... That could also be showing that only those 4 will be the only one who stays alive in the dark future....
Black absorbs light better than any other "colour". He chose the black suit cause he was flying up into space to recharge his powers from the sun. Its really weird that so many TH-camrs and people online missed this fact just cause it wasn't explicitly stated

The only thing from the Whedon cut I think that could have worked had it had stayed, was when Batman and flash are talking and flash says he’s never really fought anyone before and Batman tells him to “Save one!”
@@fuzzykoala6168 Not really. He's still kind of bumbling in that entire scene because he's clearly way over his head. The "save one" scene was good in the theater version. There's no doubt that Barry is a better character in this cut, but he's not used to fighting anything like Parademons or Stephenwolf.
@@andrewshandle true, but when I saw that fight scene, to me, it felt smooth. The hole idea of that fight was to show how separated the team was, everyone doing their own thing. When Batman gives guidance to Flash it takes a little of that aspect away.
Snyder said during a watch party of Man of Steel the different Houses of Krypton had different symbols and different colors each representing something. The Red and Blue costume was more for diplomacy, while Black was mainly for the Warriors. Clark choosing to wear Black was him accepting his role as a Warrior for Earth and a nod to the Black suit from the comics
That flight theme was superb, the wonderwoman theme got an upgrade, cyborg got a PROPER INTRODUCTION ALONG WITH THE FLASH , batman's goals were now simple and easy to understand, Aquaman for once I thought was actually strong as hell that team up move with cyborg was epic , and superman's entrance was amazing oh by the way you were asking why superman wore the black suit he felt that he was not ready to wear the red and blue the suit of trust and hope he felt he lost that hope and trust for being gone for so long the black suit symbolized his feelings
@Bert Rogan Right?! People hating on the runtime of this movie are ridiculous. They act like they weren't allowed to pause it and watch it at their leisure. For me I kept pausing it after every 1/2 hour thinking please don't let it almost be over. Then I would load a bowl, use the latrine, make me a corn dog and get back into it. I do however feel bad for the people that didn't like it. I know that feeling all too well of being excited for something I've been waiting for, for so long only to be let down. The only difference with these fans is that they went into this movie with biased opinions.
Other Easter eggs include: Darkseid staring down at the dead Wonder Woman, supergirls corpse in the scout ship, the suit that was intended for her in the scout ship, the tied up mutants in front of the bat tank’s headlights, the late Dick greyson’s Robin suit in the background when Superman is holding a dead Lois lane, and that the card joker handed Batman was the same card he had taped to his gun in the BvS knightmare scene.
Hi, great video, sort of think you answered your own question about the black suit though, he needed to absorb the maximum amount of sunlight before the (possibly) biggest fight of his life.
Fascinating info. Thanks! BTW, the Joker card was designed not by Gil Kane (of Green Lantern fame) nor Bob Kane but rather Jerry Robinson. Bob Kane (Robert Kahn) took credit for everything including everything Bill Finger created for the character of Batman (almost everything including how his cowl and cape looked).
Darksied was brought down by an axe blow, then jump forward and Superman gets hit in the SAME SPOT with an axe and says "Not impressed" and beats the hell out of the bad guy. I thought that was cool.

I am pretty sure the black suit is for superman to absorb sunlight better.

Why does everyone focus on the length of the movie. It's been known for a while that this is going to be a 4 hour movie.
because 4 hours is an unusual runtime for a modern single film release. overlength movies just dont happen that much anymore.
Exactly. I suspect HBO wanted to release it in weekly episodes but Snyder was against this and the compromise was doing a 4 hour film in parts which could be watched in parts. Most people binge shows for way longer than 4 hours anyway so isn’t that the same thing.

The staredown Darkseid gave to the Justice League was chilling
In the end of the movie when Batman buys Superman’s mother’s farm back, Batman’s says to Superman, “By the way, congratulations.” That’s a congratulations on Lois being pregnant.

"I understood that reference"
No, it's long. No theater would ever play this.
@@AlonzoCRichardson well, good thing it wasn't suposed to be released on the theaters at this moment.
I loved the expression on the flashes face when he tries to distract superman when he gets resurrected it made me die😂☠️
What no Mephisto or hexagons?
If you listen closely to that scene, it talks mainly about Clark being the hope that cuts thru the dark so I feel the black suit was chosen based on how he was feeling and a cullmination of his various lessons from his fathers
I actually thought it was gonna be longer. Now I wanna see the darkseid fight haha
I think superman choose the black suit to regenerate or to power up.
@@DCGX yeah, for superman comic fans it an be interpreted as intentional when he flew into the atmosphere.
@@DCGX But I don't know if you really need to pay attention to the Biblical symbolism to watch and understand the movie. Or that it needs to be subtle for that matter. I mean does anyone think the Titanic pose is a Jesus symbolism?

I liked it very much, but it was way too long
Upgrated from 7 to 8 rate.
i think clark wore the black suit because it's the colour of death and he just came from the dead. also, it could've been an aesthetic choice because it straight-up looks badass and makes the fight scenes against steppenwolf more epic and snyder was clearly going for an epic, dramatic vibe. simple.
When Darkseid got hit with the axe, I did think "Should've gone for the head"
The black suit isn’t only a reference to the comics it’s also a call back to Man of Steel. Remember that the Kryptonians, like Jor-El & Zod, wore black suits exactly like that under their armor. Remember that Clark briefly had one on during his face to face with Zod in the scene where Superman sunk into the sea of skulls.

I have only one problem with one scene from this film: Why Batman still said "I am rich" instead of "I am Batman"
"The poorly staged dad deaths" 😂🤣
Hi, great video, sort of think you answered your own question about the black suit though, he needed to absorb the maximum amount of sunlight before the (possibly) biggest fight of his life.
Loved the Oprah fake out, totally got me!
