The most helpful thing that I did while joining the mauraders fandom was probably reading “All the Young Dudes” by MsKingBean89 first. Like she said, it’s the base for most of the fandom. It would be kind of like reading harry potter golden trio fanfiction without reading the harry potter books first (in my opinion and experience)
i think that all the young dudes are a very good baseline for the fandom, but i think in terms of canon compliant fics Choices is much better in terms of development of all the characters and plot

Something strange happens with All the Young Dudes, I'm still reading it, I'm on the third year, and the fic is good, very good, I haven't finished it but I already consider it canon, however I think people don't overvalue it , but rather exaggerates it. It's a good fic, one of the best Harry Potter fics I've ever read, but I think people put it in a slightly exaggerated status of perfection, maybe when I finish it I'll put it in that status myself, but for now I I'm just reading a very good book (I already consider it a book) nothing more
You can also brave the world of unfished fics and read Casting Moonshadows. It's Wolfstar and it has Jily and, if I'm not mistaken, Dorlene, but it's very sad and not finished

before i decided to take the break tho, i speedread art heist baby over like 3 days and it just made it worse it was so sad why do I keep doing this to myself (it's because I love them)
crimson rivers is a piece of art and so is bizarrestars as a writer kind of a bad person tho making me suffer like that i swear the second reaping took me out
I just finished You Signed Up For This, and omg! Solmussa sent me for a spin! You really should finish it, it’s gets sad for chapters 25 & 26, but the rest it happy and it has a happy ending! Like, an epilogue of fluff happy ending! Loved you video, I really need to look into getting an ao3 account to read zepparieli’s fics
added a bunch of new fics to my tbr because of this your vids never disappoint. i just got my friend to start reading Best Friend's Brother and she is thoroughly enjoying it so far. also i 100% relate to not being able to read angsty fics. it destroys my mind!!!
Y'all NEED to read Teach them how to dream by calamitoustide. It's like the best thing everrrr. Its a au where Regulus is the teacher for the kindergarden five year old harry goes to and on the first day he meets a hot dad (James). Also its not sad and I can confirm it has a happy ending. There's just a little bit black brothers angst. The main couple is starchaser (jegulus) but its also wolfstar, marylily, dorlene and rosekiller. Its 30 chapers and it switches between James' and Regulus' pov. Please just give it a try!

Have you ever read Uneasy Lies the Head by pipthepoet? It’s a royal au with Prince Sirius and Regulus, royal guard James, servant/assassin Remus, squire Peter, etc. It’s got wolfstar, jegulus, marylily, dorlene, and rosekiller. Like with Crismon Rivers there are minor character deaths but no major character deaths. It’s still a work in progress but it’s updated every week.
I tried to read Best Friends Brother but I just... can't get through it 😭One thing I cant stand is when miscommunication & zero communication in general lasts more than like one chapter. It was fine for me in Crimson Rivers because the plot itself being The Hunger Games was extremely entertaining and it wasn't just focused on the pairings. Crimson Rivers made me sob many times though so idk if that's an improvement
