M y 91 year old Dad was a Spam salesman 70 plus years ago living in Austin cannot wait to show him this video Thanks Jacob glad Jenn allows u to eat spam
what? a Spam " salesman"? that doesnt even make sense. Do you mean sold it in a grocery store?
@bobknobbe3561 In fairness he did say 71 years ago so maybe in the 1950s they did. Who knows
Either way Spam won't exist soon. It's gross and the younger gen won't eat it
My late father served in WWII as a DC9 mechanic in Samoa. All of our childhood, Spam was not allowed in our home because Dad was so sick of eating it as rations during the war.
It probably took him back to horrific memories, as well.
Wow. I am from Sweden and I had no idea that spam came with different taste and forms. When I was a poor student I bought spam and canned food. I had no idea how to bake spam I thought people only ate it cold as it was.😅 Thanks for posting this. Today I have learned something new.
Probably the most amazing part of the Python SPAM skit is how trapped the woman was in being forced to eat SPAM because she couldn't order any of the dishes sans SPAM because it wouldn't be that dish if you took the SPAM out, so it would become a dish they don't offer.
A crowning achievement in alternate universe bizarre nerd humor.
Adding to the tocino comments (pronounced “toe-see-no”), tocino is sweet marinated pork belly in the Philippines. Spam is huge in the Philippines along with other canned meats like corned beef and vienna sausages.
Tocino is a pork-belly product common in the Philippines that's been cured in a sweet marinade and is frequently served for breakfast. Spam's take on the dish definitely captures that sweet, bacon-y flavor, so much so that it makes us want to run out and buy the real thing for a direct
I’m amazed. I’m considerably older than you, C’bagger, & I thought those younger than me would never had heard of Spam. I ate & loved it as a child but not thought about it since 😊
I didn't know that there were so many different flavours of SPAM. Here in England we only get plain original SPAM, we like it. SPAM = SPECIALLY PRODUCED AMERICAN MEAT.
they make Figgy Pudding SPAM limited edition last Christmas and I assumed that was a UK flavor?
@@AKayfabe I don't think the SPAM figgy pudding came to the UK. It's what is known here now as Christmas pudding, which is a British christmas staple. We have one every year. I Don't make it from scratch, thought many do, our goes in the microwave for a couple of minutes.
Brave of you to be in Minnesota right now!❄️
my favorite little city, was just there in November and I have family names up in that museum if they still have the wall of names of packers that left to serve in WW2
I cut my fingers many times opening the cans with that key!!!
You Spamalot?
@@henrys3629😂 from Camelot, you Spamalot!
@@henrys3629and coconuts migrate! Being lifted by African swallows!
Jacob your to cute with the spam guy where u take selfies Love it 😍 ❤❤❤
Spam was always great in family camping trips 😊😊😊😊
First time I had SPAM was on family camping trip (50+ years ago). Cooked with some canned baked beans in a cast iron skillet over an open campfire. One of my best meals ever!
@@ellenwoodruff4518 agree 😀
Another great video. I absolutely love watching your adventures. Travel safe
Wow, I learned something about SPAM today.
Dinky Moore stew and ramen noodles put me through college! ❤❤
Thank you Jacob for the he tour of the Spam museum 😊 never knew there was one 😅 they definitely covered the whole history of Spam so cool ❤❤❤❤❤❤
My wife is Filipino. Tocino is a Filipino meat
So funny that they would have that part of the museum dedicated to Monty Python and the Spam skit.
I love how Spam rhymes with so much. Who'd-a-thunk that Spam could get funnier than the memes.
17:00 this is japanese style lunch box! (we call it Bento)
24:44 I like museums that have artifacts that are games. They are like arcade games!
They need a cafeteria where you can get different spam meals.
Love Teriyaki Spam in Spam Musubi!
I hope you stay ahead of the snow storm coming that way and to the east. Safe travels.
Love your channel and Spam😅
man said “Spamples” lmao
I hope that it was planned out that you wore a yellow and blue shirt to match the SPAM logo! I need to go here it looks like a lot of fun! Another great video!
Nice 👍 SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota! 👏 Great job, Jacob the Carpetbagger!
It's similar but I prefer Treet. My mom used to bread it and fry it,
yum.
Another way I like Spam/Treet, cube it, fry it til it's really brown then put it in a bowl of cooked 🍚 rice 😸
I’m not a big Spam guy, but I would go to that museum. Monty Python’s Flying Circus made me want to sing the song.
Torino is basically BACON
I was there last year - I also love Spam!
If you want to get penny presses, the toledo zoo has at least 5, just saying. They also have a museum in the zoo. Very cool dioramas with lots of interactive activities
Jacob, the Arnold Ziffel Museum is apparently a joke. The stairs lead to apartments. I actually used to live in Unit#1 20 years ago!
thank you, I was looking for this comment lol
Morning Jacob 🌅🤓📸 thanks for sharing this Spam a lot lol looks nice. I think you been here before, its great to come back to see what been going on. Thanks again for sharing.😊
I agree. I think it's fun to see him to revisit places in addition to exploring new things.
@@loravaloo55 yep.
The Oregon Lottery has a free penny press. I squished some unique coins.
Thanks for the info. I live in Salem Oregon. That's super cool.
@@loravaloo55So do I. That's how I know. I squished a copper penny, wheat cent, and a German cent exact same size. Came out amazing.
Welcome to Minnesota , theres some plaques by a couple of parks near Redwood Falls where the Indian war took place if your interested.
You got us! We thought you were crazy enough to drive from SD all the way to Texas! 😅😂
I been there. I bought a deck of cards. In fact. That's where my sister is moving. Austin.
I have to find that Japanese spam commercial now. Always nice to see you enjoying yourself with the spam. Lol
I've never had Spam before. This video actually kinda makes me want to try it, lol.
I haven't had Spam since the 70's, I remember from when I was young. Never tried it again! I do love how happy you were, being there!
Cool video Jacob love spam. Safe travels And take care my friend.
Damn dude now I'm hungry
Hey Jacob- FYI-Appalachian Renaissance Faire of Tenn Spring Fling- April 20-21 in Morristown, TN at Fulton-Hill park.
In Hawaii they do alot of spam glad you like it my nephew love spam I can't do alot of pork due to my stomach so I stay away but I don't mind fixing it up foe thw fam
Okay, now I want to see a video where you taste test all those different crazy types of Spam. This needs to happen. For science.
You find the coolest places!! I absolutely love fried Spam on English muffins!! 😋
OmyGosh! I was there at the same time as you! I was part of the tour that was going through. It's so fun to see you go through the museum because I wasn't able to try out any of the interactive stuff!
This is so interesting to me as I love your channel and I am very fond of SPAM. I even made it into the finals of the Kentucky State Fair SPAM recipe contest about 25 yrs. ago. (Final table, didn't "ribbon". 😢 I made a SPAM pate with a hint of horseradish. Served with cornichons and french bread toasts). You do the best videos! Love you and Jen- safe travels!
Your SPAM pate sounds very good!
Both my grandfather hated spam because of them being in ww2
Tocino means Bacon in English.. Jacob, have you ever tried Pork Roll ? Next time you are in NJ, look for it in a deli.. usually, pork roll, egg and cheese on a hard roll with salt, pepper, & ketchup... trust me, you'll enjoy it.. try to get the pork roll well done... you're welcome !!!
It may come as a pleasant surprise to learn that SPAM is not the preservative-packed mystery meat you might think it is. In fact, SPAM only contains six ingredients! And the brand's website lists them all. They are: pork with ham meat added (that counts as one), salt, water, potato starch, sugar, and sodium nitrite.
I love Spam ❤
A story regarding Spam that sticks in my mind is of a Sailor who survived the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. After several days of not eating, surrounded by sharks, he decided to try and open a can of Spam. However, the sharks went into a frenzy right then, and he dropped the can without being able to get any.
I finally tried Spam, it’s good!
Oh my goodness! Jacob are you still in Minnesota?? We would love to shake your hand! We are near St Cloud. Reach out if we can say a quick hi during your travels! 😃
I love Spam!! My Dad used to keep some in case of an emergency!!😂
i've never had spam but i think you've convinced me to try it! i also audibly gasped when i noticed that you weren't wearing crocs 😂
Needs spam crocs lol😅
It tastes like what cat food smells like.
Man, you drove 1100 some miles from Minnesota to Austin from one day to the next. That’s covering some ground.
That’s what we said but it must be a typo! He’s in Austin, MN! 😂😂😂
I live in Texas and I was thinking, there's no way he got to Austin that quick!! Ahhh didn't know there was an Austin MN. Learn something new every day 😸
Watch out! Looks like Mr. Spam got fresh!
here for the spam! spam is definitely a staple piece to have in every home in hawaii! I always pick up a spam musubi from my nearest local 7/11 whenever I’m having a craving for something inexpensive!
tocino is pork belly skin that is fried kinda like pork rinds
Spam spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam wonderful Spam!
I love spam ham; something you can use to make with just about anything 😊
If you decide to expand the Etsy shop, PLEASE add a phone case! I collect them and i have over 50 i’d love to add yours to the collection! (:
Did you call them ‘spamples’ 😂
Yes, he did😅 I giggled
Love these travelogs. It's like a mini vacation.
Just imagine: dear, I’m taking you out for a nice Hawaiian dinner. Very expensive spam!
We have had an extremely mild winter until this weekend. Please pay attention to the weather reports and road conditions and be very careful!!
I hope no one is 'spamming' you in the comments.
Aw shucks, I'm an hour late to the video and I missed my opportunity to make the spamming joke. Thank you for carrying the heavy weight of bad jokes. It's a burden.
shall you?
@@perceivedvelocity9914 Most welcome.
Oh scarecrow potted meat puns are the best puns of all
Spam pun
Thanks for visiting the Spam museum. You are right about people from Hawaii liking spam. The way I like it is in an omelet with cheese. Aloha
Very neat. Cooked spam the other night with rice gravy pan fried it. Was so delicious. Thank you Jacob. How neat!
I am not a big spam fan but i did try the maple spam and it is so good
I remember when I was younger my mother making Spam, rice, and gravy so much I hated Spam. But being older now, fried spam is actually really good..ALSO just noticed Big J not wearing his Crocs today..never thought that could happen :)
I worked for the Hormels at the Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix. They own it. They're nice people. I cooked brunch for them every sunday. It was a good time.
tocino is a filipino sausage. it is sweet and delicious! I’m from guam and us islanders in general, we keep spam alive!! Spam Musubi, Spam Fried Rice, and even Spam Kelaguen (spam mashed up with lemon powder, i suggest serving with warm rice and flamin hot cheetos or funyuns)
Omg hi I am a fellow Minnesotan and we litterally just had a spam and rice sashimi bowl right now I didn’t even know this was here in. Minnesota!!!!!!!thank you for sharing this !!!!!
The pub is my favorite.
Good Morning " Ya all " jACOB..!!
Hey Jacob South Pittsburg TN now has a Lodge cast iron museum
Fried spam, rice, and eggs are an amazing breakfast combination
Actually funny enough, I got a can of the maple spam recently with the "this is going to be disgusting" but it's actually really Delicious, the sweetness really balances out the saltiness of spam!
35:40 "Ope" When in minnesota
In Minnesota just in time for the blizzard!
Jacob, have u ever made SPAM fries? Cut it lengthwise into fry size strips and deep fry til crispy. Put back in can, standing up, and serve w Nacho cheese dip 🤯🤪
Yum!
Spam is great sort of thin and F r i e d eat it for breakfast of scrambled eggs / sunny side up andbuttery toast YUMmmm - E!
If you ever come back to California again, you should see the Bunny Museum in Pasadena/Altadena on North Lake Ave
Tocino is bacon in spamish, and arepa is tipical food from My country Venezuela base on pre cook corn flour in round form
I love spam sandwiches with Godiva onion slide. It’s great in Hawaii did not know there was a spam museum - thanks
When I visited my family in West Virginia, they would make "West Virginia Steak Sandwiches"-you guessed it-Spam!
Maple sounds good to me. I like to put maple syrup on my sausage and livermush so I see no reason why that wouldn’t work for spam
If you are still in the area you need to try Maid Rite sandwiches
He's in Austin MN, NOT AUSTIN TEXAS.
I think the orig video said TX
I remember when I was little spam was a staple in my house. Now I dont have it so much. And my husband loves the chilli.
Tocino is a Filipino breakfast fried pork. So goooood. Sweet in taste.
Can I get eggs, bacon, sausage and spam without spam in it?
I'll eat your Spam
