Would this omnibus be a good starting point for someone who has never read anything about X-Men and would like to start? This omnibus will be released in my country in the next few months, and since I'm looking to start reading X-Men, I thought I'd start with it.
This video is great Omar- I’ve not read a lot of X-Men- I’ve been collecting since 95 and read as a kid. Have a shit ton of comics in my collection but you can’t have read it all but these videos are so enjoyable- like taking a class and now I want all those omnis! Hey Omar, great video. I didn't know what this book contained or what was different about it from the main omnibus that was released. You actually talked me into it, which is not a bad thing. Just want to see the flesh out stories. It's like a dessert that compliments a full course meal.

Classic X-Men is how i got to know X-Men growing up collecting comics in the late 80's and through the 90's .These are what i would buy and read so to me its gold .i never even knew they were reprinted stories from Uncanny lol
So I have a bunch of epic collections X books currently. Do u think this Omnibus would be a great companion to go with them or would I be getting the same stories again? I’m really intrigued by the additional stories you mentioned.
So it sounds like the dream scenario would be an expanded Uncanny line of omnis that has the bonus pages from Classic combined with the main X-book? Because I'd love to check these stories out but I'd want them in the context of the stories they were a part of but switching between omnis after each issue sounds like a pain.

i'm not confused..how did the Phoenix Force bond to Jean when she was in a cocoon at the bottom of the ocean while Phoenix assumed her identity for those years, and later Jean came out of the Cocoon to join X-Factor..did they produce that Classic X-Men comic BEFORE the retcon of X-Factor #1? I just bought X-Men Classics around #47 and they are from 1990..

I agree with your praise. I love this omnibus so much. Those stories always felt like Chris Claremont doing his own fanfic on his stories. They felt even more special than the original stories BUT you needed the original stories for these ones to work so well.
Does this Omnibus make no sense for reading any of the stories, even if they are short and not the full experience? Very tempted to pick this up without having read the main Claremont run as the art work is so good and I love the Mignola covers especially and I have a bunch of other omni's to read. If it's not comprehensible then I guess there's no alternative. I see it looks like they're reprinting the first Uncanny omni, do you know if it has anything new in it? If not a second hand copy of an earlier printing may be more affordable...

Marvel has released Omnibuses of the silver age X-men, but both are out of print. Yes, you would need the Uncanny X-men and Classic X-men omnibuses. I did a comprehensive reading order of the X-men books in collected editions if you want to check that out on this channel.
Nice video. Thanks. You said this is like director's cut to uncanny x-men omnibus. But for a blu-ray movie with theatrical cut and director's cut, there are probably 80%+ identical content. I assume that's not the case here. This book only contains backup stories and new/changed pages, but no direct duplicate pages to uncanny x-men omnibus. Appreciate if you can confirm.

Question: How does this differ to the new X-Men 'Epic Collection'. I get that, yes, it's hardback, yes, it's got some extra bits. But besdies this, which is better?
Epic collections are usually compilations of one specific storyline while the omnibus could be 1 2 or 3 different archs in one book the Xmen classic omni is pretty much the first 44 issues of the All New Xmen run including the Phoenix saga.
I think I am still confused. I started collecting the uncanny xmen omnibus reprints for 2020. I have volume 1 and volume 2 with the intention of getting volume 3 reprint in January. When should I read this? Before Omnibus 2? Read all 3 then this one? Nevermind, at 8:55 you mention to read all 3 then go back.

These are the books that inspired the movies, you are correct. Like the Dark Phoenix Saga can be found in the first and second omnibus of Uncanny X-men.

#JaYrOx no one gets books retail. If you are, you’ve certainly got a lot of money to spend. Just go to InStockTrades or if you live outside the us then go to Ebay, Wordery or Amazon. NEVER get books for retail, that kinda price can never be justified for just pages slapped on a hardcover, rather get a PS4 or a tablet with that kinda money
I can't understand why anyone would buy this, since it only contains the new pages. It would be extremely awkward to read a few pages from one book, then have to switch back to this book, and hope that you're reading the panels in the correct order. Why not include just all the pages?
That would be too much double dipping. So it would be two omnis instead of one. I’m good with just the new pages considering it didn’t last that long and they just focused more and more on back up stories.

The thing that annoys me is that it takes a bit of mental work to figure out when to stop reading one book and when to switch to another. I guess I just wish I could open up one book, read from left to right, and done. Simple. But with what we have now, it's just too complicated for me to deal with. So rather than buy the Omnibuses of these original tales, I think I'm just going to buy the actual comic books. The Classic X-Men comics are not too expensive.

I would strongly suggest reading the Claremont original stories and then come back to this for sure.

It’s different. This doesn’t contain the full issues, just the added on pages to those original issues.

Okay so I have a few issues of Classic X-men, and they reprint, say issue 98 of X-men. So, my question is is the reprint included in the omnibus?
Partially. Just the pages or panels that were changed, not the entire issue. I hope that helps.

Think of it like a director's cut that is canon. Future stories are impacted by these backups and extra scenes.

D-Nero absolutely not. Think of this as a Director’s cut of Uncanny x-men. You’ll enjoy it a ton more after reading the first two omnis.

It's an amazing complete experience and as I stated on the video, I think of it as Claremont's Director's cut

Is it me or the first X-men Vignettes tpb has a glossy thicker paper- a lot thicker- than current glossy paper?
