  • Texas and Steve Sarkisian have done such a good job recruiting they have two QBs on campus who were each rated the #1 overall player in their respective cycles, and on Late Kick Live Ep 368 Josh Pate discussed Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning fighting for the starting job in Austin. While it is widely assumed Quinn Ewers will ultimately hold onto the QB1 role, does this mean there is no competition in practice and within the program? What do you expect from the Texas Longhorns this season? If you're Cooper Manning don't you want him to sit a year to get in the weight room and learn Sark's offense. Basically no matter what he does in college every NFL scout is going to give him a shot

    • @mjbset93
      @mjbset93 ปีที่แล้ว

🤷🏽‍♂️ Sark might need you to save his job by midseason if they play badly without you. Then remember if he hangs on in spite of play below expectations, your first meaningful starts are in SEC games with a team that might be shocked by consistent physicality of the SEC. Now without the conference switch and a coach that could be on the hot seat, your thinking is very logical.

@David Webb that was quite comical mentioning 7-6 the last decade as the perennial top recruiting program in the big 12 or at, worst the third best doesn’t help your point. The likes of Vandy, Kentucky and Missouri won’t be on your schedule every year. Arkansas probably will but they might get their house in order soon. A&M recruiting has been on par with y’all for years. OU is always a tough game. So season above 0.500 in conference isn’t a given. If you think the SEC schedule won’t be consistently tougher than the Big 12 schedule y’all played you’ve got burnt orange shades on.

Sure the SEC has 2 really well stocked cupboards.
But this OL and this DL aren't what you saw 2 years ago against Arkansas.
Sark and Flood put up one of the best offenses with the best line at Bama...leave...then Bama starts to falter in both of those regards and Bama fans are happy to tell you they want Sark back. Meanwhile Texas pulls the best line class in the nation.
      Coincidence?

Texas hasn't been truly two deep at QB since Simms & Applewhite until this year. Quinn, admittedly, let his mechanics slip a when he came back from injury last year. If he fixes that, there should be a big jump in passing game production. If he doesn't, Arch is there to take over. We haven't seen him play at this level, but his strengths are football IQ and accuracy which are the two thing needed for Sark's offense to be deadly. As Josh said, the danger is Quinn not improving and still not making the switch to Arch. He already failed to make the switch two years ago with Card/Thompson.

Holy crap, look at that schedule. I hadn't really paid attention before now.
Besides Neyor getting to face his old teammates...which is just neat
And having to go TO Bama...
    And of course Oklahoma...
The rest of this schedule (and this feel weird to say being a Texas fan of late) looks pretty damn winnable.
Baylor might be an issue. They had a down year last year, but Aranda is a good coach. And many of the big 12 coaches are VERY GOOD...BUT...
    -Tcu loses a lot
    -ksu loses a lot
    -ISU loses a bit
    -Oklahoma state loses a lot
I mean. We will see what ol lance can whip up at Kansas, I suppose...and Oklahoma, while they lost a bit, they GAINED quite a bit...and Bama, while they lose a LOT, is still Bama...
