- College Football teams are in summer workouts with fall camp around the corner and all eyes on the upcoming 2024 season, and on Late Kick Live Ep 527 Josh Pate discussed the biggest what-ifs the sport has to answer this fall. What if Sherrone Moore and Michigan finish under the 8.5 win total? What if Jalen Milroe's passing game makes a leap under Kalen DeBoer and the new staff at Alabama? What if people besides Josh proceed to adopt the Big12 as America's College Football conference? What if Arkansas sees things go south early in the season? ARKANSAS MENTIONED! WHAT THE F IS QUALITY FOOTBALL COACHING 🐗 🐗 💎
So help me god Josh if you hexed this Arkansas season 😂😂😂
I agree with his take on the big 12. So many entertaining games plus that TCU run to go undefeated 2 years ago was a fun journey to watch
Yeah that was so fun to watch. Remember how they made the playoffs instead of alabama, and Georgia made the look like a high school team. The worst natty in history of football. That was a great one.
@@joshjohnson2736lol are you salty😂. Let me guess Alabama fan or Michigan. Them winning a playoff game must never have happened lol
@@jacoblittlequigseven as a die hard Alabama fan who knows Alabama was undoubtedly a better team than TCU, that run they went on to even make the championship game was something special to see. The final result of the final game was just about exactly as I expected. But them just getting there is what was great about it. They freaking beat Michigan in a playoff game, that they had no business being able to compete in, let alone win. And they did it. And the run of games they went on to get there was ridiculously entertaining football to watch. I don’t understand how anyone could have watched those games and felt any differently. Which leads me to believe that the people who felt differently, are just the people who didn’t watch those games. They had like 6 or 7 games that they won in the closing possession of the game. They were the most dangerous team in the country in close games entering the final minutes of the game. They just kept finding ways to win over and over and over again. Michigan by all accounts, should’ve beaten the brakes off of TCU. But they kept playing with their food, dragging it out later and later. Then they had to learn the lesson the hard way about what that team was able to do if it was late in the game and they still had a chance. Clearly Kirby Smart paid attention to them well enough to know that. He made damn sure that when it got late in the championship, he could e taken his guys off the field and it wouldn’t have mattered at all. 😂😂
@@HawgWyldFishing true. Honestly goargia will be dominant for a while. It's the whole talent vs who deserves to be in argument. But I just think it is funny that it was Alabama or Ohio State and now it's tcu. I mean Ohio State lost to goargia why would the argument not be over that still. But you definitely can't take tcu out of the playoffs like some people seem to want.
Your thumbnail maker needs a raise.
Go Blue!
I love Josh pate! He just seems like a great dude and he really cares about college football unlike all the SEC, BIG 10 coattail riders
*What if neither the Big10 nor SEC want FSU and Clemson?* Would they try for the Big12? Independent? or stay with the ACC? How would the rest of the ACC feel about the latter?
I would put money that the sec isn't looking at FSU Clemson right now. I know they are big brands and southern schools. But they just realigned and haven't even gotten anything under there feet yet.
SEC takes both of them asap without blinking an eye imo.. both huge teams with huge markets, southern mentality.. shit SEC has vandy, I'm sure they would love to add clem n fsu
Love the thoughts on the Big 12. My favorite time of year as a college football fan is watching who is tiptoeing the line of bowl eligibility. Mainly because my Huskers haven’t been fun to watch the last couple years
Josh. Thanks for the hogs content. I hope we can be better 4-8. We need to go 6-6 at least. But I don’t know how we do it. I just hope we do. I’m hoping the O line will be better. If our O line is better I think we have a shot at a decent season.
Petrino would not get the job. He is not allowed to have employees under him as a state employee. That's why he is OC. T-Will would be the interim.
And they also said he'd never be allowed back. Doesn't really matter if he gets named interim or not because he's not the permanent answer. He's not a recruiter and he can't assemble a high quality staff. It was fun his first go around, but he's towards the end of his career
Petrino has WAY more HC experience over T-Will. If he wasn't allowed back, he wouldn't be OC.
Michigan still has the nation's number 1 defense. And probably will do a lot better than 8 wins, lol. Give me a break. Lol
Exactly. They only lost 4 defensive players so that defense will be a problem for anyone they play. And as long as their QB is decent, they can go very far next season.
they do? big if
@robert5755 Yes, they do. Duh. 😆
@robert5755 No ifs about it. They're all back lol Except for Sainristil.
Ohio state will have a better defense they lost one less player and gained downs
Go cats 🇺🇸
I think the more interesting "What If" is ... What if Arkansas comes out and stuns a lot of people. We all know Sam is on the hot seat, that's not a very interesting "What If".. he gets fired, that simple.
What if FSU, Miami, Notre Dame all make the playoffs...?
I didn’t take that comment to which you’re referring to be B12 v. ACC. I believe he was making a different point. Just an observation.
They expect AR to start out 2-4, that is why Petrino is there now. There will be no other choice but Petrino. But, again, if the offense looks horrible and the guy responsible for that horrible offense, are you really going to lock him down for a four year contract? Do you even want to hire him as HC if his offensive stats are garbage? I think that depends on if there is another proven coach out there that's not at AR but is elite on offense and wants in the SEC? Alex Golesh anyone? Or a Lance Leopold?
Petrino isn't the long term answer. He's not a recruiter and can't assemble a high quality staff.
@@elmerfudpucker5387 It's got to be better than what's been going on at AR right? I'd want someone younger with a fresher mind and a closer bond with players. We see that working throughout college sports today.
What if Miami and VT are back? What if UNC, NC State, SMU and UNC are strong. Will the ACC SOS be disregarded because of perception and not fact? What if the ACC has a winning bowl season? Will the pundits just say that’s be cause the best teams were in the playoffs? What does the ACC have to do to earn respect? It must be more than just winning games because they had a winning record against the SEC and went 4-4 vs the Big 10 in 2023 and nothing changed. ACC leadership (or lack thereof will be its downfall). Not the talent on the field or the passionate fan bases.
😂
Bro wake up, it’s the ACC
SEC only has a 64% lifetime winning margin over the ACC by an average of 6 points. Let’s not pretend the SEC is so much better. Look at week 1: Vt/Vandy, Miami/Florida, Clemson/Uga. Either conference could go 2-1 and nobody would be surprised. Only two teams from each conference have won the natty the last decade with the ACC being #2 behind the SEC in terms of # of draft picks. The ACC is not as good as the SEC but it ain’t as far behind as people make it out to be.
Crack rock is definitely being smoked if the Big10 is Americas conference JP
I see a half glass. Neither half empty or full. It is what it is.
It's a joke that Sam Pittman was brought back when everybody thinks they'll struggle again this upcoming season. Decent genuine guy but he's not a head coach and has no business being in charge of running a program. Not a chance he finishes the season before being fired and Petrino might get named interim for the remainder of the season, but he won't be the permanent replacement.
Bold Prediction: For a second straight season, Bama makes the final four in CFB and men’s basketball. Is this a 9.5? Has any program done this once, much less twice?
My hogs are so awful. We will be 4-8 again most likely. Just another disappointing letdown season
Great defensive teams will make the playoffs. M should have a fine defense this season, despite the losses to the NFL they remain loaded.
Agreed 👍🏾
Yeah Wishagain, 8-4 is pretty good! For you. Look how often you're worse than that! Can't contend every year, unless you're like Ohio State or something.
AR will overachieve this season. That may look like 6-8 wins but they will.
@@philipdoolin7467 Arkansas? Do good? Don’t make me laugh. Arkansas only knows how to lose games, underachieve, embarrass fans, and give up.
Happy Independence Day,
We will never join a conference
you are in everything else except football stop it

This is a football show I am clearly talking about football, if you want to talk about the closest sport to football , lacrosse about the last two years be my guest. Back to Back lacrosse champs
Your pathetic program doesn't deserve to be in a Conference. What has Notre Dame ever done to be in a Conference? Notre Dame lost to Louisville and Clemson. I can't wait for the excuses after this season
@@aaronwestburyLook up NDs winning percentage over the last decade. Then compare it to all the other programs. ND is much better than you like to admit.
@@kevinbond8966 is that why Notre Dame hasn't made it to the playoffs?
Will Michigan have to give their helmets back to Delaware?
Actually the design came from Princeton, check your facts before you try making a dumb joke

No matter how you compared it, the top half and bottom half of the big 12 is a much bigger drop off than the SEC, or disproportionate raito. Of course it's debatable until we see how each conference does. But is OSU does not beat MIchigan this year, the will fire Ryan Day. .lol
As a Texas fan, Im very curios about the game with Michigan. I honestly think we would have beaten Michigan in the playoff even though I wasnt surprised by the Washington loss. Wash waa a terrible matchup for Texas but Michigan was a perfect matchup. The problem now is that the core of the Texas run defense is in the NFL and thats why I think Texas would have won against them last year. Nobody ran on Texas last year.
Michigan could've run on Texas last year buddy c'mon now. And even if they couldn't JJ could've thrown all over your DB's. Y'all would've lost. Period
Michigan would not have been good for y’all either 😂
@@donovanjohnson3947 how so? Texas' only weakness all year was good pocket passing. They had the best interior DL and middle LB group in the country woth excellent edge play against the run, and DBs whom weren't great against the pass but were elite against the run and they would be waaau mlre willing to make McCarthy win the game through the air than they were with Penix. I don't know how thwir NFL careers will go but Wash was waaay more dangerous of a passing than Michigan. And that was Texas flaw. The Texas d last year would be able to shut down Michigans run better than Michigan would have been able to ahit down Texas offense. My only hesitation in that game would have been Sark getting out coached. Texas would have beaten Wash if Sark had committed to the run like Harbaugh did.
@@tyler-xi8wd JJ/Michigan werent half as good at passing as Penix and Wash. Texas would have absolutely been able to shut down or at least limit Mich run game and JJ wasnt a game winner on his own. He was only good when his run game set him up. And despite Texas pass defense being a weakness, it isnt a huge problem when JJ isnt as good and the defense has already limited the run. Michigan was the better team than Wash overall but the matchups were drastically different. Im not even saying Texas was the best team but they were perfectly suited to beat Michigan even more so than several teams I'd say were worse than Michigan. In fact, I think Texas was a better team overall than Wash bit I predicted they would lose because I knew it was a bad matchup.
Michigan would have absolutely beaten Texas last year, I don’t care if your strength was stopping the run, they still wouldn’t of stopped Michigan
Your big head stay hating on Michigan you want them to go away so bad your bought and sold my friend 😂
Michigan wont be able to cheat as easy this year plus having to vacate wins and chip will hurt recruiting
They won’t vacate anything. NCAA already issued a statement saying they don’t believe the sign stealing affected Michigan’s success. So enough with that cheating mess already.
7-5 Michigan hope they do even worse
That’s not nice
@@BoldandBrash12
They chickened out of our rivalry, opting to play lowly MSU only, so hoping something bad happens to us is all they can do.
To hell with Notre Dame. 😊
I wish that there was some type of machine for ND fans to know what it’s like even believing your team can win a national title game
Id take a 2-10 season. As long as we get Day fired 😂
@@MarkyMark1221if Michigan can do it so can ND.
Mike Irwin who is very close with people around the Razorbacks covered the Bobby Petrino stuff in this weeks Ask Mike and he said BP will not be the next Razorback HC.he said BP didn't come here for that.Mike has been pretty accurate on things he's talked about in the past,so I'll believe him over some idiot fans that rub one out to the thoughts of BP before they go to bed each night
Yep I wish people would pay more attention than just reading headlines
Mike Irwin contradicts himself all the time. At one point last season he was talking about Pittman resigning on his own, then a few weeks later was saying he'd be back. Also talked about how good a hire Enos was when he was hired. Irwin talks to a couple boosters who are very supportive of the athletic department and now rarely says anything that might be considered negative.
