Insanely impressive how I just tried this for a moment, and managed to survive almost twice as long + almost beating an U rank friend, me being S rank with calm pps and high apm due to downstack quad counter-attacking (I have reliable pps, I was trying to play calmer to think more about countering)
There's another level of what I would call advanced cancelling tech which is when you consider the effect of over-cancelling: if you have 4 rows in your meter and you cancel with 5, it sends 1 row to the other player. Since this is likely during a window where the opponent has no cancel, it is a way to cheese them. This is used a lot by B2B players (fs, blaarg) since the small B2B bonus can be used for cheese.
that is called a counter-attack and it carried me back in the tetris friends days until i got to the level where people had consistent T-Spin setups and higher APM
