Apparently a director of the movies said that Minions can't biologically reproduce, either by splitting apart like amoeba or sexually. I think this could explain the retcon about Minions being created by Gru. Instead of making them from scratch like it was implied in the first movie he simply started cloning them around the time he was an adult explaining the blueprints for a Minion in the background of the first Despicable Me movie.

I'd like to point out that Gru, too, in Despicable Me (2010), survived a massive bombardment of missiles from Vector-all direct hits that drove him into a crater. And he walked it off. The man is several times denser than the asphalt that got cratered. Maybe he's doped on that Minion juice too?

Film Theory Idea: How did the animals in Zootopia evolve and thrive in the society they live in? Because carnivores, such as lions and tigers, must have to eat other things instead of meat and how would it effect them. Also at the beginning of the film it clearly shows there were natural ecosystems so how do the " districts" are so close and finally can climate change play a fact in their world and the demise of their society?Thought it would be an interesting topic.
Alternative answer to the theory. Carnivores are carrion eaters. The other animals that die of natural causes get turned into food for carnivores.
Or they eat fish and bugs (which has actually been confirmed)
But how do they get their ice cream?
When you really think about it, you don't see any anthropomorphic reptiles or birds or amphibians in their universe so the carnivores perhaps prey on them.

Knowing what an aglet is isn't trivial, it's just a fact about shoes that, when the Phineas and Ferb creators learned it, they were just like "Huh, neat. We should make an episode about that.". The only way that information is useful is in VERY specific circumstances.

But snow cones contain a minimal amount of nutrients and mostly just acts as a source of water.

Since they might have evolved separate to eukaryotes, they might not even have telomeres. Procaryotes like bacteria often have ring shaped DNA, thus they don't need telomeres. In the Intro of the Minions it isn't clearly shown if they have circular, chromosomal or some other kind of DNA, but it definitely is a possibility. A circular DNA would also explain why they don't age, and would make it easier for Gru to clone them and for El Macho to mutate them

In case you weren't aware, around this time 2 years ago, Denise Nickerson (Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka) sadly passed away after multiple health complications. In her honor, I would like to see you tackle the science of Wonka's Three course meal chewing gum, and I mean all aspects, including how it can change its flavor over time, how it can mimic the satisfaction of a three course dinner, leading up to, of course, what goes wrong that turns the victim into a blueberry. You can also maybe go into some nutritional facts like with the Marshmallow Man theory, or HOW the victim is supposed to be juiced, but let's not make it gross!
With the 50th anniversary of the movie just passed, I believe this would be a perfect way to celebrate and pay tribute to such a beloved actress!

My personal head Cannon is that Gru and Dr. Nefario managed to tame the Xenomorph to make the do their will. Xenomorph ressemble their hosts( like the Xenomorph who came out of the dog walks on all fours like a dog). Gru must have used a Banana as a way to make them more docile towards their master. That would explain their color and size

The normal minions are already indestructible but they're not destructive at all. Now if you follow the El Macho principle, you need to make them a bit stronger. They have the potential to eat a nuke. Actually basically eat anything that isn't too wide.

For the record, the exosphere and thermosphere of earth around which that Minion was depicted floating is incredibly, incredibly hot, not incredibly cold. The particles are extremely energetic up there. Not that it matters too much, because there are so few of them.
Not to mention you can't freeze in space, nothing to transfer heat to aside from losing it via radiation over time.

edit: Also, the fact that they can resist extreme heat for a few seconds or minutes does not mean they can forever. Surely you could survive 60-70ºC (140-160ºF) for 3-5 minutes, but imagine it being 15 minutes or even hours. dehydration is inevitable, same would happen to the minions

WAIT. How many times has Gru gotten hit with missles? On the first movie, Vector hits Gru with his arsenal and Gru comes out of it just like a minion: scuffed up but unscathed. He's been hit with lasers as well. And the traps for El Machos base, which he was hit with and survived. (Side theory: minions, and by extension Gru, are immune to poison, because you know those darts were poisoned. Or at least a sedative, which they were immune to.) Gru has unlocked their secrets. The reason they haven't bumped him off is because they can't. He's the best boss because he can use them effectively and survive their blunders. Gru is a true mastermind. On top of this, he managed to become an offensive force. HE STRAIGHT UP SUCKER PUNCHED A SHARK SO HARD IT WAS PARYLISED. He dodged HEAT SEEKING MISSLES, and also tightroped a thousand feet up on an unstable wire without falling off. (Until the line broke, but at that point falling is no longer his choice or in his power to prevent without violating the laws of physics.) He absolutely has the power and potential to be the worst villan ever known, the problem is that he only ever became a villan because his mom sucked and never cared about him. His heart wasn't in it. We see his true power when something he truly cared for was threatened or at stake. STEALING THE ACTUAL MOON DIDNT EVEN REQUIRE HIS FULL POTENTIAL. GRU IS UNSTOPPABLE. EVERYONE GO HOME.
