Finally! This is so over-due! However the expected completion date of the project is 2030! I hope this deadline will be brought forward by as much as possible because 2030 is too far away and already the roads are too congested! Cant wait to see this being implemented and completed! Exciting times!

i agree Sara. long overdue. i'm lucky, when i am in the country, i work late night/early morning so i don't have to deal with the traffic. But when i do have to go to places and it is during rush hour, some places you barely move.

We need the plan start to be announced. I am quite looking forward to it as it can change the way people travel and how quickly. Also, there should be a western line connecting Zallaq and Budaiya

Any updates on this project? Is it still going ahead? Very excited for this project for Bahrain. Good choice of grade-separated automated trains. Coming from Vancouver, Canada, I can attest that these types of trains have been great for the city and very flexible in terms of frequency and length of trains. Cheers from Canada!
This project is to be talked about in 2021 next year but due to the covid 19 as you can see this project might get delayed or postponed. But hopefully it will be ready before 2025 or 6
I'm a decade long railway nerd, and from my POV, according to the population density map of Bahrain, the metro should aim to serve the Northern, Capital, and Muharraq Governates, with the highest frequency of trains found in the Capital Governate.
Hope this reaches almost every area of Bahrain...riffa or muharraq...2030 is far..this project should b given priority to be completed as soon as possible...roads r already congested
They should make it go across the causeway to reduce the amount of cars coming in every weekend from Saudi Arabia. Great idea and useful for business people getting into the city from the airport.

I'd like to suggest a lean idea that people should be offered subsidized metro fares so that they prefer using more of public transportation especially while commuting to work

They need to cut the finishing date to 2023. First of all, the roads are already getting congested with an average of 7 traffic jams a day in Bahrain. Second of all, the Bahrain Light Rail (BLR) Is a very evolutionary idea that has grabbed attention of 80% of the people in Bahrain. But we should also consider the workers too! 😊

2030 is too far yohh. thay should have 3 shifts to get work going 24 hrs per day and cut down that target to 2022
Vishan Somal this is what i mean. 3 shifts. 1 shift will work 8 hrs. That means 3 shifts * 8 hours = 24 hours.

We should also have a line directly connecting Sar and Budaiya. Budaiya can become a transport hub, like Manama
