This is the best non-fairytale movie Disney has ever made. Today you can see Zootopia, Wreck-it-ralph etc. but how much did the studio and the workers put their talent, professionalism and everything they had, they made a outstandinglishy perfect film! I love how they animated the car! like in art or in music, you can use anything together, it isn't just about drawing into a cell, you need inspiration, motivation and random breakthroughs like just clapping two wine bottles together, those make sound, which you could use in music or use the live action movement in animation. The magic of animation is just so overwhelming!
To this day, I still think that Pongo and Perdita remain the strongest of all the classic Disney couples due to their mutual respect and genuine love for one another. The only other one that can possibly match them are the Parrs from The Incredibles
When I would see this movie, I honestly thought Cruella and Jasper and Horris’ cars was animated with CGI. I never knew they had that kind of physical technology to do that good of a job making convincing 3D Animation.
I read that Ben Wright, who played Roger in this film, also played Grimsby, Prince Eric's butler in The Little Mermaid and sadly he had to tell them. Nobody was around that had remembered.
I remembered that this movie is on Disney plus and it's also in the program Once Upon a Studio. My favorite character in the movie is Sergeant Tibbs. He's the cat in the movie.
I do think that the Xerox process was a step backwards for Disney animation. Mostly because of how much the outlines stand out and look a bit rough at times. (Although that's more of the clean-up artists fault) I can still forgive the xerox process for two reasons. 1: Walt Disney had no choice but to find a method of doing animation cheaper after the financial disappointment of Sleeping Beauty. And 2: It meant the studio had drive their films with good stories and characters. This film and Jungle Book are among the best examples.

If Doug Walker (AKA the Nostalgia Critic) doesn't appreciate it, I don't have to either. I never really did to be honest. Even as a kid I was wondering why the Disney films of the 40's and 50's had a very colorfull line work and then in the 60's and 70's, hell even in 80's their was strictly black outlines that looked somewhat rough at times. I just don't think it was a true evolutionary progress in the quality of Disney's animation.
Personaly, I think the xerox process was a great advantage for this film because inking all the dalmation spots by hand would have taken forever. But I still would have liked to see films like the Jungle Book or the animated scene in Mary Poppins use colorful hand inked lines. But those films are still great, even with xeroxed animation.
I think if you enjoy seeing an artists hands, you will enjoy the sketchiness of the 60s - 80s If you prefer the 'cleaner' perfect look, you will like the others. Personally, I love both. It's all better than 3d

There are 4 dogs from Lady and the Tramp in the twilight bark scene and they are Jock, Bull and Peg(they're from the dog pound scene), and Lady. This film is found on limited gold edition, and a Disney halloween. My favorite characters in the movie are the farm animals and they are Captain(he's the horse), the colonel(he's the old dog), and sergeant Tibbs(he's the cat). My favorite scene in the movie is where the cat finds the old dog and tells him to come up front so he can listen to a message that's important and have the cat translate it. (Don't get nervous Tibbs. Just be careful and brave).

People should know that this movie is also a read along, a golden book, and a wonderful world of reading. But this movie has a sequel and it's a television show and a live action movie. There's a Christmas read along of the movie. If you get the 5 minute disney Christmas stories book, there's a story from that film in there. Plus when you get that book, you may want to know that there's a sleeping beauty Christmas story in there. You know this is the first time sleeping beauty has had a Christmas story.

This info is in the Vogue Knitting book. We have to strike a balance between making money, eliminating waste, improving products versus the value of labor. I often wonder if it's not so much a matter of saving money during production, as it is increasing the total market demand for the product. Of course we should try to save money, and reduce waste. Technology should never replace people.
@@Seekarr I dug around and finally found that somebody's blog said the film was partially Xeroxed, and that it was the final film of that era to utilize the technique. But even if that's true, I maintain that the look of "The Little Mermaid" is very classic and clean ... none of the trademark rough/sketchy style of "The Jungle Book" and "101 Dalmations".

Oh yeah. I like 101 Dalmatians because of it’s present day setting. I do, however, like the Rescuers better.
I always loved the fact that the animators decided to sneak some Lady and The Tramp characters into this movie just for the fun of it.

In my opinion 101 Dalmatians was the greatest Animated disney film of the 60s.

Diego Bareno - Little Mermaid was the final film to use the Xerox method, but some of it was done in digital for experimentation purposes.
