MS-DOS uses Adlib (FM synthesis) to play music, no other driver is selectable, such as General MIDI, which is related to MaxDesign's specially developed music format .hsc. The Amiga uses the .mod tracker format, which is based on samples.

DOS version ROCKS. Such an amazing game, with such a awesome soundtrack!

This is a game where the creators spent a lot of time on the FM music. It sounds far better than most other DOS games with FM sound. I don‘t mean the songs itself but the FM instruments used. On the other hand they didn‘t spend much time on the Amiga music. The most basic of samples were used, which were pretty much overused even by then. It could have been done much better on the Amiga then they did.

I'm pretty sure the composer, Hannes Seifert, created his own proprietary FM tracker. All of the FM music he wrote is very high quality.

​​​@@forestforthetrees7173yeah absolute correct. Hannes wrote the "synth engine" and the tracker. Hence the name, HSC tracker. I think it stands for Hannes Seifert Composer

I loved this old post-apocalypse rpg. Not only shooting like in many games today, more strategic, planing and also fighting^^

The Amiga music is quite cool but he DOS soundtrack seems more dramatic. The music in the character select screen is such a lovely tune.

Open Cubic Player ( OCP ) can Play .hsc Music from DOS Version. (Tested under Linux) :O)

DOS sounds better. Maybe because I played it like that. Amiga sounds flatter and tinnier.

DOS version all the way, it sounds much more gritty and foreboding. The Amiga version sounds cheap by comparison.

hmm i think both have some Creepy feelings like at 7:40 the Rat Grill man on Amiga and others sound also pretty good.
