This show is one of my personal favorites, but Idk if would recommend it for a teen... I can't begin to express how wrong that was imo, & I'm saying this as a huge Chair shipper... I sadly don't think we need a reboot..

Highly impressed by how much these actors have grown up into socially conscious adults. Unfortunately, it seems they got there through the fire of gossip girl.
I LOVED Gossip Girl, but I was like 17-21. At the time, we didn’t really have influencers so it was all about aspirational lifestyle. I’m now 30, I’m over watching rich teenagers live toxic lives... it’s had it’s time. It’s late 2000s/early 2010’s nostalgia. I’m not sure I’d even like the reboot if I was a teenager. It looks like it’s more inclusive, but it still looks toxic and all about unrealistic hook-ups?!
I also feel like the writers ruined the relationship of the whole cast bc every on the show had to hookup with each other. It would be nice if each main character could have one main love interest in the end. also the relationship with Blair and Serena on the show makes sense on why there actual relationship as cast members didn’t work out. On the show they got over things for the wrong reasons. I wish there friendship on the show was more ideal.
@@fifigallagherThe only CW shows I love are One tree hill, Smallville and Supernatural. Gilmore girls is one of them too. Gossip Girl reminds me of these shows including Friends

That's...not why it's gonna suck. It's gonna suck because the first pictures reveal that the cast members are not good looking nor stylish. What's the point of having Gossip Girls if they're not hot and well dressed?
Yes, AND they only have two men listed as regular cast members (and both of them are gay). I need hookups, because they generate drama and gossip. There is not an equivalent male : female ratio. This "cast" they picked look like *outcasts*
Nate is now on The Boys on Amazon video. Amazing show btw. All the characters in the show have gone on to do bigger and better things. Why their doing a reboot is beyond me. Hollywood is doing a bunch of reboots but if you ask me... Let sleeping dogs lie. Hollywood needs to start being original again.
That has been done plenty times in tv shows and it always is really bad. Instead of concentrating on the actual characters, people will think, “SERENA’S CHILD.” They tried doing that with Full House and I have never heard anything about the show like it never hit popularity after its debute
At the time of Gossip Girl, it was not popular with Facebook, IG, Twitter and social media like now ... they uploaded events only through Gossip Girl ... and at that time the bullying by Blair and her friends was just a mischief an ordinary teenager to exist at that time .... it would be different if GG was created in the present where social media no longer relies on Gossip Girl for news..and the harassment in Blair's era in 2007 is no longer relevant today. I think Gossip Girl may reboot but still present them as parents who set a good example for their children ... they should be model parents who no longer consider marriage as a game like Lily who got married 6 times, or like Chuck, who has had a hobby since sleeping with prostitutes, Nate and Serena who fall in love easily, Blair who bully other students..Gossip Girl is suitable for broadcast in 2007 - 2012, right in its era with beautiful and handsome stars..i watch Gossip Girl over and over again on Netflix during Covid19 Pandemic...but anyway..in facts GG made them famous and their acting was so amazing ...amazing talents
Exactly why there shouldn't be a reboot. Who wants to see a show trying to set an example for minors or whatever? Barf. The target audience is millennials, who watched the original show, we're not interested in that. And Gen Z, they'll try to hook, and they're far too young to care about that stuff too
Let’s be real here Blair and Serena and all those characters were not engaging in typical teenage mischief. They were spoiled brats no matter what year it takes place. Part of the beauty of the show is that we know they are so different from us but it’s entertaining
as much as we love how they are on the show it really is toxic and unrealistic to many. this video and the GG reboot made me realize that I’m growing like the og casts, that kind of scene is not their scene anymore in life. it may be exciting at the beginning but in the long run it’ll exhaust you. like highschool, good to look back but ain’t going back...
I really loved the original GG. I don’t think that the reboot will be as iconic as the original GG. They really had to make something new for this generation instead of making a reboot.
nah she didn’t shoot someone, the guy overdosed on drugs and started having seizure and then she left him there to die. she never shot anyone idk why it said that!!
I think they said these things because they don't want seen as their character in GG and get asked a lot about that.. GG is iconic but life must go on..
I am interested in the reboot because the GG phenomenon has more sense now because of social media. All the characters were just pawns, buffoons exhibited to entretain society (being GG just a platform for it). It makes total sense that GG would rise from the ashes.
Even though I hate some of the characters, I respect and love all the actors of Gossip Girl. They have their opinion. Blake Lively one was the same as mine. I hated Serena too. My only favourite characters were Blair, Chuck, Rufus and Nate.
To be fair, Taylor Momsen seemed to run into the same issue that the character of Nate did: she had no actual control over her life, being a child actor at such a young age. I think her flipping the bird to Hollywood and taking the music route was the smartest move for her as she is insanely successful in doing so, and she clearly enjoys it over acting
They will never beat the OG GG! Blair could make this whole new cast leave town and change their names faster than dorota says "Miss Blair" And don't get me started on this Walmart version of Chuck 🙄 I'm sure Ed is embarrassed and disgusted at the wanna be knock off. They should off based this after the original using the OG cast's kids and actually invited the originals to be involved.
I watched every episode of the old gossip girl and I totally get what Blake and Leighton said... The storylines were very immoral and shallow and so were their characters... Not a good thing at all to pass on to the new generations... And when Leighton revealed the toxic work environment it clearly shows how badly the show runners use these artists as tools to mint money at their expense
unpopular opinion: (according to the comments) i loved Serena from the beginning to the end, BUT there were some really shitty things she did that i didn't like/hated tho anyways, i've always admired Blake Livevly as a person and her work and i always will
Why does that girl have a shaved head. And how come the only TWO male main characters arw BOTH gay? Hookups generate gossip, therefore there is no juicy gossip.
@@Stormy_Cloud ikr 🤦♀️ I feel like they're trying to portray the newer generation but it strays too far from the original cast. 🙄 shouldve just made a brand new series instead of slapping gossip girl on it.

I kind of feel bad for all the actors.... It makes me wonder what kind of toxic environment were they subjected to to. They all seem traumatized by it.
i mean unless the reboot goes on for like 6 seasons again, i don't think the new cast has to worry about getting stuck in character if that makes sense
It doesn’t sound like most hate the reboot (they haven’t even seen it) so much as they are worried about the younger actors. Also Taylor quit she wasn’t fired and she hated acting.
It’s also sad that the one thing all the original cast has in common is their feeling that the set environment was toxic and unhealthy. I’m curious as to what Jessica Szohr, aka the only poc, would have had to say.
You can kind of tell from season 2 when the story began to trail, that Blake and Penn weren’t too into playing the character. From a certain point writing was C- at best, and it was pain staking to watch, can’t imagine how she would’ve felt portraying it.

Most of the time reboots turn out as a disappointment
This show is one of my personal favorites, but Idk if would recommend it for a teen... Some things I think are forgiveble, but for example having the chuck Jenny scene (kiss on the lips party on the roof) and then making him to be one of the biggest romantic leads of the era.. I can't begin to express how wrong that was imo, & I'm saying this as a huge Chair shipper...

Highly impressed by how much these actors have grown up into socially conscious adults. Unfortunately, it seems they got there through the fire of gossip girl.
this reboot is doomed, i feel like it’s going to do so badly
I feel like Blake Lively just seems like a genuine person. It’s nice that she’s in a position where she can speak honestly
It saddens me to hear the actors did not love the working environment when filming the OG GG
Sounds like Glee cast. They hated that show.
Not only the gossip girl casts hate reebot we do either😂😂😂imagine someone else like blair....*NO, NOT HAPPENING*
“To her dark raccoon makeup” I’m screaming

Whew. I just pulled up the pictures and...... I’m sorry but I can’t watch a show that doesn’t have any eye candy. They look busted.
Yes, AND they only have two men listed as regular cast members (and both of them are gay). I need hookups, because they generate drama and gossip. There is not an equivalent male : female ratio.

I feel like the reboot would be more interesting if the Og cast would come back and the show would revolve around their kids‼️
That has been done plenty times in tv shows and it always is really bad. Instead of concentrating on the actual characters, people will think, “SERENA’S CHILD.” They tried doing that with Full House and I have never heard anything about the show like it never hit popularity after its debute
I didn’t know the cast hated the show so much. Had no idea it was so toxic behind the scenes.

And Gen Z, they'll try to hook, and they're far too young to care about that stuff too
@@LuMichelini except they probably wouldn’t go down that route and you do realize a lot of teenagers would watch a show about teenagers
Let’s be real here Blair and Serena and all those characters were not engaging in typical teenage mischief. They were spoiled brats no matter what year it takes place. Part of the beauty of the show is that we know they are so different from us but it’s entertaining
@@LuMichelini i’m pretty sure the target audience is Gen z
as much as we love how they are on the show it really is toxic and unrealistic to many. this video and the GG reboot made me realize that I’m growing like the og casts, that kind of scene is not their scene anymore in life. it may be exciting at the beginning but in the long run it’ll exhaust you. like highschool, good to look back but ain’t going back...

When did Serena shoot someone? I’ve seen the show a million times and don’t remember that
I was literally just thinking the same thing. I just recently rewatched it and I don't remember it either! 🤷🏼♀️
It was the end of season 1, I think. She shot someone by accident while she was high on coke and explains why she went to boarding school
nah she didn’t shoot someone, the guy overdosed on drugs and started having seizure and then she left him there to die. she never shot anyone idk why it said that!!
That's exactly what I was thinking. Serena NEVER shot anyone. I've watched it a million times . Heck I'm watching it now. 🤷🏻♀️😂
not to be rude but this new cast will never beat the real cast they will never be as iconic as blair waldorf or chack bass
Is anybody concerned about what the entire cast had to say?? Bro the backstage of the Gg filming was bad ...
“Many would like to see her return as Jenny Humphrey” I’m sorry but who is that please keep her as far away as possible
Been there done that. The End!...XOXO!✌
it would be iconic to see the non-judging breakfast club become parents but are still rocking the upper east side🤧
A blog would never work today and gg being on social media seems boring and cliché. How the hell are they gonna make it work?
If the old characters arent there im not watching the new gg.
It actually makes me feel better that they hated the show to.
You can tell the producer of the video never watched gg. Nobody would say he fell in love with Chuck the first time he appeared on screen lol
As a die-hard chuck/blair fan, I can confirm that statement. No one fell in love with him at the beginning lol
I wish they wont do the reboot
It’s happening they are shooting Rn. It looks awful tho. I’m only gonna watch because Thomas Doherty is in it!
Blair could make this whole new cast leave town and change their names faster than dorota says "Miss Blair"
And don't get me started on this Walmart version of Chuck 🙄 I'm sure Ed is embarrassed and disgusted at the wanna be knock off.
They should off based this after the original using the OG cast's kids and actually invited the originals to be involved.
The only one that actually made sense as Gossip Girl was Penelope
Underrated character ^^
Ngl Serena was the most annoying character, like I got angry watching
For me it was Dan , I hated him since the beginning of the show.
For me Gossip girl it's not about white priviledge, but more like a RICH priviledge haha
From my opinion, it’s both really
Mmmh yes agreed.
I watched every episode of the old gossip girl and I totally get what Blake and Leighton said... The storylines were very immoral and shallow and so were their characters... Not a good thing at all to pass on to the new generations... And when Leighton revealed the toxic work environment it clearly shows how badly the show runners use these artists as tools to mint money at their expense
unpopular opinion:
(according to the comments)
i loved Serena from the beginning to the end, BUT
there were some really shitty things she did that i didn't like/hated tho
anyways, i've always admired Blake Livevly as a person and her work and i always will
The only thing I loved Serena's part is Blake Lively's Performance and fashion stuff.
The new characters look a hot mess
Why does that girl have a shaved head. And how come the only TWO male main characters arw BOTH gay? Hookups generate gossip, therefore there is no juicy gossip.
@@Stormy_Cloud ikr 🤦♀️ I feel like they're trying to portray the newer generation but it strays too far from the original cast. 🙄 shouldve just made a brand new series instead of slapping gossip girl on it.
@@Stormy_Cloud Thomas Doherty isnt gay and he’s a main character. I think he’ll play a younger version of Chuck with his accent 🤣or maybe Nate with an American accent obviously with a different name 🤔
A reboot wouldn’t be worth watching to me without Chuck and Blair being married with kids and having the other main characters incorporated somehow and going off of that. Mostly because that’s how the show ended.
People think it’s going to be the same plot, with all the problematic, racist stuff happening and it’s not lol it’s inclusive and modern so I’m here for it.
Chuck , Blair and Dan were awesome characters in Gossip Girl series I Would love see them in the reboot
hey!!! taylor was asked to be written off the show to peruse her music career.
its funny that every 'opinion' they got about the reboot was quotes NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE REBOOT
I kind of feel bad for all the actors.... It makes me wonder what kind of toxic environment were they subjected to to. They all seem traumatized by it.
sorry but the reboot isn’t gonna work out at all it ain’t the same thing if the original characters aren’t there
i mean unless the reboot goes on for like 6 seasons again, i don't think the new cast has to worry about getting stuck in character if that makes sense
It doesn’t sound like most hate the reboot (they haven’t even seen it) so much as they are worried about the younger actors. Also Taylor quit she wasn’t fired and she hated acting.
Definitely won’t be watching, the show’s time has passed and I don’t think the new cast could live up to the iconic nature of the OG’s.
It’s also sad that the one thing all the original cast has in common is their feeling that the set environment was toxic and unhealthy. I’m curious as to what Jessica Szohr, aka the only poc, would have had to say.
The entire cast is right
The original WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE
Don't worry, Blake. I hated Serena too.
i would love to rewatch gg but it got deleted from netflix 😭
i was obsessed with gossip girl and also i totally agree with them
the title is about why the 'Cast Hates The Reboot' but they only talk negatively about the original gossip girl.
It's interesting how the reasons we loved the show are the very reasons the actors don't want to come back.
You can kind of tell from season 2 when the story began to trail, that Blake and Penn weren’t too into playing the character. From a certain point writing was C- at best, and it was pain staking to watch, can’t imagine how she would’ve felt portraying it.
