Speaking of baskets. The sweet grass basket arrived yesterday and proudly joined my collection. It is certainly one of the older ones which were made for use. It is the best made by far than any of my others. Made probably 60’s or 70’s. Love it. Thanks for rescuing it from the landfill.

Sandra Hostetler I saw a Halloween skull, like Dollar Tree stuff for $39! I’m done with them. Their prices are all over the place. Mist are outrageous, at least here in Tampa.
Good point, Sandra, but it's not just Goodwill. Some of these places have forgotten that they are THRIFT shops that get their merch for FREE. I agree about Goodwill; the last time I went in one, I almost fainted at the prices, and on damaged items, to boot! But we also have some other local thrifts - CASA and Hospice, that get a bit ahead of themselves on prices. I've seen stuff in there priced way above new. People should "stomp their feet" so to speak; while I love supporting them, they could price themselves right out of business. If your shoppers are thrifty, there's a good chance they're not stupid about prices.

That time he rescued that tiny, white unicorn for Sissy from the bins my heart melted! He's definitely a keeper. :) I was a single mom since just before my daughter was 2 years old. She's 20 now. That's probably why I feel very protective of Jocelyn as well.

She has placed a wonderful person in their life who obviously cares for them as well as for her; he is so thoughtful and loving of them, too.. Her job is not an easy one as a single mom, I know. I love how she's teaching Sissy so much about thrifting and the items they find, etc. Good start for Sissy no matter what she decides to do with her life. She will have a "business" background at a very early age. There's nothing to not love about all of them -- just a good, good family. My husband and I live in Charleston South Carolina. Occassionally we'll go down to the marketplace and shop for sweet grass baskets. I love to watch the women weave them. It's incredible and the baskets are beautiful!!

Yea, I can see Andrew's hairline. He's handsome under that baseball cap. As a basket maker (among other things) you are correct. Good baskets are hard to come by. Most are imports. Examine carefully for broken and missing splines. Once in a while you will find a beauty! Happy hunting.

Have not read all the comments, and just started watching today's episode, so someone may have already stated this - the fire house candle holder should have/would have had a base that the candle sat on. The the fire house would have set on top of it. My mom had a few of those, and yet they are very cute! Love your videos.

About that recycled plastic purse...back in the late 60’s -early 70’s it was all the rage to make bleach bottle purses. You sliced off the top and bottom leaving a ring. Cut the ring and make a strip. Now you can cut out squares. Punch holes so the squares can be crocheted together to form the purse. My mother made a ton of these. She’d punch some of the squares so she could make simple tulips or other flower designs. Hers were very popular with the locals.
Pandabutt 03 I literally brought it in, set it in my living room... realized it didn’t match the colors at all and without hesitation my mind went to... “I need to redecorate around this vase.”

Wish we had Charity Shops this big here in the U.K.! I visited a Goodwill when I went to Michigan last summer to see my Dad, and the prices were *ridiculous*!

My Goodwills are all over the place with pricing. A new Wilson’s leather coat NWT was $20 and a pleather, peeling off was marked $60. Same with home furnishings. I’m getting turned off by Goodwill. Even though I bought the $20 jacket. Lol.
Had never heard of the brand until about 20 years ago at another GW, I found a cute basket for 59 cents or so. The cashier had a minor fit. Then I knew what a Longaberger was. It's been my only one. Vintage baskets are fun. Great find, glad you got it.

Good morning from the very fine state of South Carolina. The sweet grass baskets are made in Charleston at what used to be the old slave market. Women sit at the entrance of each section; make and sell them. From my experience, they do not like to have their picture taken. Come visit.

I once visited Anne Hathaway's cottage. The guide said they cleaned the chimneys by lowering down a live goose. As it flapped its wings on the way down, it removed all the soot. I suppose they ended up with a clean chimney, but a very dirty goose!

These thrift stores don't seem to realize they don't have Ebay clientele. With a local reach, you can't charge those prices! Our ARC thrift stores would rather throw away valuable antiques than come down on their prices. 😭

I did find money at my local thrift store a few weeks ago! A $5 bill folded up in a stack of baking pans!

I’m coming to Pennsylvania. The GW’s here in SoCal are full of junk, and the selection is tiny. One aisle in your GW equals 3 in mine. Plus Community Aid looks fantastic!!
On another note took a break from work at went to GW......thank goodness I cleaned the car out it’s hard to hide $85. Worth of stuff.......😳😏

I went to my Goodwill that I don't like, yesterday and found to signed and dated Orrefors vases. I'm so excited!
Kelly Fullilove I found one also a few months back the mini corona vase and recently a signed Paloma Picasso vase! She is the youngest daughter of Pablo and designs jewelry for Tiffany. I am so pleased.
My Goodwills are all over the place with pricing. A new Wilson’s leather coat NWT was $20 and a pleather, peeling off was marked $60. Same with home furnishings. I’m getting turned off by Goodwill. Even though I bought the $20 jacket. Lol.

I found a signed Longaberger basket last week at a GW for 2.99. I always look at the baskets.
Had never heard of the brand until about 20 years ago at another GW, I found a cute basket for 59 cents or so. The cashier had a minor fit. Then I knew what a Longaberger was. It's been my only one. Vintage baskets are fun. Great find, glad you got it.

Good morning from the very fine state of South Carolina. The sweet grass baskets are made in Charleston at what used to be the old slave market. Women sit at the entrance of each section; make and sell them. From my experience, they do not like to have their picture taken. Come visit.

I once visited Anne Hathaway's cottage. The guide said they cleaned the chimneys by lowering down a live goose. As it flapped its wings on the way down, it removed all the soot. I suppose they ended up with a clean chimney, but a very dirty goose!

Thanks for all your great video’s. Love them! The W.Germany vase is a great catch for 15!! I have a little collection of W.Germany vases myself, but I live in the Netherlands so I probably come across them more often then in the US but I’ve never seen that one and I’m sure it would not have been 15 dollars, probably more like €25 or €30 (33 dollars) in the thriftshops where I live.

These thrift stores don't seem to realize they don't have Ebay clientele. With a local reach, you can't charge those prices! Our ARC thrift stores would rather throw away valuable antiques than come down on their prices. 😭
