    I'd love to have a compact tractor but my 5 acres just doesn't generate enough work to make it worth a purchase.
    Fortunately, I have a local dealer that has insanely affordable rental pricing. I can rent any of their Kubota or Yanmar tractors for a weekend for $100 plus $75 delivery and 11% insurance. Skid Steers and excavators are $200.
    Get a tiller, post hole, extra buckets, or grading attachment for $10-$20 extra.
    Usually in the middle of summer when demand goes down, they offer 50% off.
    You certainly won't find those kind of rates at your local Sunbelt but I'd recommend checking around to see if he can find similar deals.
    I do the same thing with trailers since I'm not running a business and only need them occasionally.
