Dumpster Diving to Reduce Waste, Give Back, & Save Money! Today was a blast :)

- This was an awesome full day of dumpster diving! I drove a little further away today and loved the change of scenery. I primarily stayed at apartment complexes today but did score some great return items at a $1 store.
I am always so happy when we are able to save things from the trash - even if I personally can't use it or sell it - I love being able to donate and rescue perfectly good (and sometimes brand new) items from ending up in the landfill. Thank you so much for watching and I will see you next time!! :D

I have an idea for your "Family" frame: put some cup hooks along the bottom and hand your car keys, dog leash, caps etc. Those rooster circles are "Stove burner covers" ... just 2 are missing, can be hung on your kitchen walls as decorations! Love the Three Kings tapestry pillow you are keeping!

Yes on the family sign she can also get some family pictures & put double sided tape on the pictures put them where the pictures would go while hanging on the wall then add the hooks like you were saying

Little tip....put the beautyful pillow in a pillowcase before you throw it into the washer...use an elastic band to close the pillowcase end...it will wash up like brand new 👍🏻

Also put it in the the drier BEFORE WASH IT! on high heat for about 5 minutes or until its real hot. Will kill all bugs including bedbugs.
If your dryer has a sanitizing cycle, use that!

Yup, I wash pillows regularly. Just have to make sure the washer load is balanced or it goes whumpa-whumpa-whumpa when the spin cycle starts 😜. Just be sure to put them in a plastic garbage bag and close tight before you put it in the car.

What a nice person you are. Caring for a loved one with dementia is very hard. As the caregiver you have so many jobs rolled into one, and as being the granddaughter it is emotionally difficult. May the Lord bless.

To help your flowers last longer, trim the ends of the stems with a knife ( scissors will squish the ends)add an ASA tablet or some 7up to the water and enjoy them.
Can't believe someone threw those flowers out, they are still good. Those lids are burner covers.
My guess is that she thought his mess up was a dozen long stem roses bad, not a spring bouquet bad.

Little tip. Cut your flowers at a slant to they do not set flat on the bottom of your vase. This will make it easier for your flowers to suck up water.!! Also take off the leaves down to the water line so they don't rot and create bacteria in the water! Add a asprin or a small amount of bleach to keep bacteria from forming. Kelly, after you wash it, if possible put your pillow out in the sun from 10 to 2, on a bright sunny day.
Also, if your pillow keeps getting flatter, dont throw it away. Put it out in the bright sun!
For several hours. The sun dries out your pillow. All the drool and sweat and moisture.
You will be amazed how much it plumps up the pillow. 10 to 12 on one side, turn over 12 to 2. And will smell marvelous. Put it on a chair or table or in desperation on a towel or blanket in the grass or on a porch railing.

The rooster “lids” are actually electric burner covers and yes the pads are called pot holders.
Put pillows in the dryer on high; should kill any critters that may be hiding. Move the large mirror to the empty wall over by the chair where you want to put the 3 wise men pillow and arrange the smaller mirrors you just found.

If you’re concerned about bugs in the pillow the best way to kill the bugs is to put the pillow in a black plastic bag and leave it out in the sun for a few hours. This will kill any kind of bugs. We learned this from an bug exterminator. 😊
That family frame..tie a piece of string one end to the other..get some tiny clothes pins..instant hang a couple of pictures in the center..instant repurpose.

Did my first dumpster dive yesterday evening, inspired by you. Everything I nabbed was outside the dumpster tho. You are an eco-warrior helping to save the planet/reduce waste 🙂
Bar soap on zippers keeps them working well. Make sure any loose threads not stuck in zipper. The family sign you can take cuphooks and attach on bottom for hanging keys. I think the Spiro art was to have other gear things with it to make designs. I'm happy to see you doing retail dumpster diving again too.

I found the clearance section in the flower department of my regular Krogers grocery store and both myself and my mom regularly score there. Big or just complicated arrangements for just two bucks usually, 4 at the most. And they last for a good long time especially if you rearrange them every 2-4 days. It's really nice for the winter months in Ohio. And keep checking because they purge but then really build up again. Sometimes I just pick out greenery and get that, super cheap and good for some life and positivity around the house.
Those are burners' covers on the electrical stoves.,they usually come in sets of four 2 small and 2 large. When the stove is not in use you put them on and it will make the stove looks nice and decorative.

I always keep a big gulp cup and a bottle of water for those special plant finds. Just to prevent wilting while we drive home. I've been known to get cuttings while out and about and use my big gulp cup for that.

Being the crafty person I am, I would have taken all the parts and reassembled them into something really cool! Sure wouldn't have left them behind! I'm into upcycling--making something out of bits of other things!

18:57 Those roosters are stove burner covers. They're used to extend serving/counter space or just to look nice when the stove is not in use. Though they could be turned into wall decor. I know a LOT of people collect chickens/roosters & will love them.

You can absolutely donate the pacifiers, most people take them out of the sterile packaging & wash them before using anyway & it says to do so right on the package. They'll go to good use.

Those round things with roosters on them are covers for burners on stoves. Try rubbing some wax or a bar of soap along the zipper on the wallet. Sometimes that helps it zip more smoothly.

if the zipper on the wallet is metal, you can add a drop of oil to the spot that sticks and it might helps the zipper pull glide over. i learned that in sewing class lol.
