Holidays do this to any side 😅. The young left arm spinner from Woking is fantastic. Great action and turns the ball. Awesome to see. Shoveller digging his team out of strife from 3 wickets down for cheap. Wonderful century.
Fair play to Woking. It's a shame that player availability has such a massive affect on Sanderstead's consistency throughout the season. But like you say, there's more to life than just cricket. In any case, I always look forward to watching your videos on a Sunday morning (in Australia)!
Flashing stumps, Falafel wagons and 15 year old Spinners. Had it all barring the result. Thanks for making the effort Dan. My Sunday morning coffee and highlights reel is complete for another week. Any sign of some Village filth on the horizon? Could do with a good belly (there's plenty of it) laugh. 😂
Dan, a little tip to Will. He plays in front of his pads too much and goes hard at the ball without waiting for it. He needs to learn to wait for the ball a little longer and play it under his head. He's got talent but just needs to iron out some wrinkles in his technique
Fair play to Woking, they played very well. Very impressed with the young spinner in their side. I’m sure Sanderstead will bounce back from this defeat.
Absolutely - great toss to win, the pitch got harder to bat on. But, the Woking batsman kept it simple and took advantage of a relatively weak bowling attack. Amazing they were bottom of the division! Two good 15 yr olds.
Dan what has happened to Sanderstead. I have been watching your excellent videos for a few years and each year the strength of the First eleven has deteriorated, now watching the bowling and fielding today( with a couple of exceptions)it appears to be at a very low ebb and is more like watching the Sunday eleven( no offence meant). I know it’s not all about winning, winning, winning and you need a good atmosphere in the club which I hope you have but as an oap that has enjoyed watching your standard of cricket I am disappointed that it has dropped to todays level.
Something I notice is that they lost a large group of players from those first few years when they had people like George Jackson etc. only people that remain from that team are really Tyler and Jallen. From an outsiders view, i suspect this was because the large cohort of good players at that time were around the same age, which was end of school/start of university stage. That is typically a period where everyone moves away etc for uni and work. I suspect this is what happened to that group
Absolutely spot on there. They were all around that age, I miss George’s aggressiveness but fine bowling and Tyler who plays some sublime shots doesn’t seem often to take that to a decent total these days but he is still one of my favourite players. Johnny Longcock bowling/ batting etc was always a joy to watch.
George Jackson is now at Sutton opening the bowling in the Surrey Prem, moved away for a better standard of cricket and the Surrey Prem is possibly the best club standard in the whole country.
Lord Falafel being chauffeured, of course you have to pause the game its etiquette...like the time we had to as an apprentice hoodlum rode his BMX across the square...serves us right for trespassing on his hood!!
No disrespect but Keysie opening the bowling says something about resources and Max is a work in progress. Losing Mikey is a big blow. However, all clubs have holiday absences and yet still put out stronger sides than our heroes. How Woking are bottom of the table is a mystery😳
Well, Mike, with Mikey (had to go home), Alfie (back problem) and Sandeep (holiday) out all you can do is go to the 2nd XI for your bowling. It’s not like we can have a bunch of 1st XI level players just sitting in reserve. Most clubs have this issue at this level - that’s why everyone is capable of beating everyone else in this division. As if to prove the point, our depleted 2nd XI (2nd from bottom) beat Oxted (promotion hopefuls) yesterday!! It’s the beauty of club cricket at this level….
True enough - missing 3 front line bowlers is a big hole to fill. That said, Shoveller (the ton man) is a class above having moved from Camberley and played at a much higher level than this.
Long time supporter Dan so hopefully you take this as helpful and not piling on. But talking from experience (our club went through this a few years ago) I really think you guys should look for a player/coach from your overseas/pro next year, perhaps a older (30+) player. I see potential in the squad (even when its so depleted like it was today) but there is alot of silly little mistakes that could honestly be reduced massively by good training drills and skills work, not just showing up at training and having a hit and giggle in the nets. Like i said this is intended as constructive criticism, we dug ourselves out of a hole a few years ago no reason you guys can't!
Looks a really makeshift Sanderstead side, that just got outplayed by the better team on the day, Sanderstead really missing the bowling of Sandeep, Alfie and Mikey and the middle order batting of T to steady the ship
Must be a bugger not being able to field your your top team week in week out.I have no doubt though that the guys who do turn up play to their utmost abilities.Bad luck and onward to next week!! I think my fantasy team has taken another hit!
Absolutely - most clubs have the same issue. It makes for an exiting run-in where we should be back to strength for the last 4 games. We could yet finish top or bottom!
What's happened to Mikey? Can't believe he's qualified for annual leave 😂 he's only been here 5 minutes, definitely some large holes due to unavailability!
Hi Dan, shame to see such a rapid decline on the channel. It’s evident to see that the squad simply isn’t good enough but I wonder if players stuck around more maybe the past few seasons would have been a different story. I have just seen Shareef has moved clubs…..again?! Thoughts?!
Need to do what my boss does regarding availability, only 2 people away at the same time, club captain over to you!😂 Seriously only joking, but a potential solution haha
Tbh we are a “family first” community club- whilst it’s frustrating to come up short occasionally due to holidays etc, it is not the end of the world for us. If we were a prem/Div1/Div 2 side, then yes we’d need to ensure consistency of availability - but we are not!
The extraneous noise, mostly traffic, is very noticeable at times Dan, is there anything you can do to minimize that? Rather distracting when 'we' want to concentrate on your dulcet tones.
It was windy at times and I forgot to use the lapel mic - meant that some noise got through. It has definitely been significantly windier the last two years - somethings happening!
Committing is still a thing in my book .But that’s just me followed your channel for a few years and you have said how it’s more social than serious.👍👍
When I played First XI cricket, the only excuses for missing games were work, injury or marriage. Not as much commitment today but that's probably true in a lot of contexts.
I think in some clubs that’s still the rule depends how much success you want i guess. Winning premierships can be a life long memory if your a youngster wanting to climb the ladder the example of minimal commitment wouldn’t be one i would want to follow.
@@russellwilks5414 In my experience, the best teams usually field the same XI every week, without much exception. They want to play and they want to succeed. They also don't want to give others a chance at taking their spot.
I remember years a go a bowler take 2 steps forward and when he got to the crease, went backwards one step and then forwards again - complete comedic trash
There seems loads of decent players coming through at youth levels & that where the strength in any club lies. No good having first teamers who stay for 1 or 2 seasons & move on.

Absolutely - great to have such a quality ton on film!
Max Shoveller has about a million runs for Camberley in Prem and Div 1 cricket!! Proper player
Came here to say same. Very good player, especially at this level.
@@marklong931 is this is Scorer by any chance?
@@NJSurrey I am the 1st XI scorer at Spencer. So yes I guess!
@@marklong931 yeah I recognised the name! We have your 2nd XI next week! Enjoy the rest of the season mate
Yes - very good player. A joy to see such a quality ton and get it on film.
The young Woking spinner reminded me of Dan Vettori with his action, he’ll be a tricky bowler in the future
Indeed - top class youngster
Thanks for that , I am glad he has progressed well

Absolutely - and it’s the same for most clubs. It’s why we are mid-table - full availability every week would see us (and any team) on top!
More to life than cricket? Are you mad? Or worse, American?
Looked like a tricky track to face pace bowling on (try saying that with a mouthful of crisps). Upwards and onwards to next week.

There’s some filth on its way!
Outclassed by Mr Shoveller terrific innings
Certainly was John - he’s been a top Prem/Div 1 player for a while and now plays for Woking. Proper.
When I saw 'big ton' in the title, I was anticipating a heavy defeat for Sanderstead.
The Viking Weasely is a Ryan Sidebottom in the making.

We did that last week, Bob. Got rolled for 51!!! Video will be revealed at some point….
