From Los Angeles, California. It's true that not all Nigeria police officers are corrupt but most are, as much as 90 percent. Try traveling from Lagos to Benin city, you will see the worst of policing. I have traveled that route many times and have been a victim of those corrupt officers. At that Nigeria/ Benin Republic border, you will also meet the corrupt immigration and customs officers who will do everything to get bribe from you.

@edwonder_pt That's great but Nigerian Police aren't a reflection of Nigerians. Just live in Nigeria for a year possibly drive a car in Lagos and you'll have a filled experience with The Nigerian Police first-hand.

If we do a poll of the people just commenting here who have been to Nigeria if they have ever been asked for money on the road by Nigerian police directly or witnessed /know others who have, I would not be surprised if over 95 % have.
Many people leave the house with Naira change in their car, just for this reason. Its not all but it is a culture and common practice for them to ask.

Agree with you. How would they have responded if he did not speak the language & say that he was not a Nigerian? Every police officer anywhere in Africa would look to be an angel if they see a camera
