Just wanted to say one thing to you Matt. Thank you for rescuing these old Fords from being lawn art or forgotten barn keepsakes. It's great to see so many cars getting their chance to be back on the road again. Also that shifter looks like it was made for the Scroll 32. Kudos man!!!
Matt, you made me actually chuckle out loud when you sat in there and said "Hell yeah" when you grabbed the shifter. I'll be sitting along 73 this summer near your old place watching for you to drive past.
Hey Matt, That shifter looks very 1950's and the steering wheel and column all look right as well. The flat aspect of the floors make the car looks larger inside. You will be lucky to get maybe 3 inches of padding in your seat bottoms but you can make up for it in the thickness of the seat back. Maybe you could clean that roll up and down rear window also ! The project is happening dude ! Work Safe and Be Well
You know Mike's got to love the Beer reference with the new shift but it really looks like it's going to work out great for you glad to see it's coming along so well for you Matt
Shifter looks great ....always reminds me of my early days on the local bus from school ....the old GM buses ...the shifter always seemed so unique and old style ..used to love sitting up near the driver just to watch him work the gears
Sitting in that car, with the long shifter and the open roof, I had visions of you turning green with R.F. lettered onto red coveralls. Ed Roth would be proud.
The shifter is AWESOME, Matt! Thanks for sharing! I also subscribe to the concept of relative improvement! Sure, the BIG stuff has to be done, but there's a complete world of the "little victories" along the way! Thanks for mentioning the windshield...some of us old rodders with OCD were feeling a bit uncomfortable looking through that busted glass! (smile) Have a Happy Easter! Be safe!
Yuppers, she's coming alone great Matt. Can't wait to see it runnin' down the road turning heads. That floor is really nice and the shifter is Bitchin'. Myself, I'd love to see it as a custom paint job super detailed trophy winner.
David, you can do It. I'm 68 and I started TIG a year ago. There are great tutorials online to get you started, then practice practice practice. Go for it.
@@deuceman32 thank you, from what I can tell it seems basically the same as brazing, as you know back in the day before mig welders that is how we welded panels and patches to cars.
Hey Matt, When I first saw the shifter, I thought it was way too long. I'm not a fan of ridiculously long shifters that stick up higher than the steering wheel and have so much throw that,in reality, to operate the car you grab the shifter in the middle. But after seeing you in the car, it looks perfect! But I do think you are going to either A) have to drop the floor where the seats set, orB) have seats that are VERY reclined. It's just a matter of personal preference. But I don't see how to put a semi upright seat in this without your head hard against the roof. You could build a seat without any padding to speak of (I've seen guys ride hard tail bikes with just a shop towel for cushion), but then it's no fun to drive it more than a couple miles. Whatever you decide, this one is going to be Bitchin'! Thanks for sharing 🤙
Sometimes that stuff happens. When I was doing my '50 Chevy I had combined a '64 Gran Prix shifter, a '64 Riviera console, a 1986-ish Camaro shift cable, and it was getting a 700R4 out of a Suburban that had been my driver for several years. None of that was planned, the console I'd had for ages, the shifter was a no-sale from a car I parted out, the only piece I picked was the cable and even that was I got lucky at the you pull yard. And that only happened because I had to change the cable in my folks pickup truck and I got a look at how they work and attach. Here again you guys building on a budget, don't overlook this stuff. GM auto trans cable linkage just uses a tab that bolts on the trans ear and as long as the shifter throw is far enough any one will work - the detents are in the trans. I don't think they even hit me for $10 for the cable at the junkyard.
That shifter is perfect! Also almost perfectly matches the angle of the steering column which is very pleasing to the eye. does that rear window mechanism work? I love that it rolls down!
I too am flashing back to the "Ed Roth" days. Grew up near a guy woth a channelled flattie '34 3 window with such a shifter. Ordinarily not my cup of tea but in this car/style it rocks! You are on a roll Matt. Keep It up!
Matt, great job!! the Schroll 32 is really cool, the shifter looks as you say made for it...can't wait till you start making progress on the Ardun 33, well yesterday was the first day of your full time devotion to the ITG Channel....God Bless!!!
Man that shifter is perfect! When I see you get in and out I remember why I put small steering wheels in channeled cars. But I do love the look of that wheel!
Well I have always wondered what happens to interior height in a channeled car and now I know! If I ever build my dream 32 roadster I think I’m going to have lengthen the body and drop the floor! I am enjoying your videos. I love seeing piles of rust turned back into a whole car! Too many cars have been scrapped because they were “too far gone” but this and the ‘39 prove that anything can be saved. Keep at it!
WOW! I can really see why Chevy was not very desirable now finally looking and really seeing why Ford used metal sheeting in their doors to hang there window cranks and latch assembly while Chevy used wood. Your floor pans came out really looking great!
I saw the amount of work it took to fab the great fitting floor. Now to have an almost easy peasy shifter insert, it's an awesome look with the "big wheel".
Oh yea ....broken ears on tower....I had an old int’l d series.....dash to dash shifting ...you weren’t going to steal that one fershir......off the left knee for reverse and from the glove box to get 1st ....,it was pretty cool though thanks for refreshing my collective memories
Nice, y'all are moving right along on the Schroll Hot Rod. Very cool shifter but who really needs all that chrome anyway, Ha !Like always, another great show Matt. Oh, I wanted to ask, you probably get asked about the '39 Ford Forgotten Hot Rod more than we know, but..... Haa ha, I was just wondering when you guys are going to have time to do a little bit more on her. It's been a while. Thanks Matt.
Very Cool shifter idea! I thought it wasn't go to work either, but it works great! Im looking forward too the progress on the Schroll 32. I bet Larry would love it. Greg
Loving that shifter and the seating position. I'm 6' tall so I'd likely be laying back pretty far in that hotrod. Looking forward to more progress and getting back to Dad's Daily. Stay safe.
Maybe it's just me Matt but, could you give a thumbs up or mention a thanks to the guys that help you in your videos, unless they are in a witness protection program or something. The only one I know for sure is Mike because we see at lot more. I think they would appreciate it also. Keep up the good work as always. Thanks.
Very cool Old School! Was easy to imagine Matt supersized head shoulders above the roof and having to reach UP to this bitchin' shifter. Like a Big Daddy Roth t-shirt!
Very good save of parts. Like most I’m super interested in choice of seat selection. That’s been a concern of my build. Wanting a period correct looking seat.
Awesome looking shifter & nice looking car can't wait to see it run under its own power instead of Matt just sitting there going vroom vroom. You might have to use a go-kart seat.
Try some wedge locks to go with the clecos, they work along the same lines but have a nut on top instead of a spring, allowing you to pull pieces together, they make an air wedge lock gun or you can just use a wrench, they will give you all the pull down you want.
Amazing how the shifter angle and steering shaft angle match @ 16:13. Couldn’t have planned better. 👍👍😎👍👍

Schroll 32 just wants to go back together...i just love how it is coming together. So awesome that shifter rocks!
Matt, the only thing missing from this episode was you doing sound effects of banging thru the gears and high revving that Olds!🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂✌️✌️✌️
Cool shifter, reminds me of those old Ed Roth t-shirt illustrations with the long shifters! :-)
Matt, you made me actually chuckle out loud when you sat in there and said "Hell yeah" when you grabbed the shifter. I'll be sitting along 73 this summer near your old place watching for you to drive past.
Wave us in if you see me passing by!!
The car is rebuilding itself, like Christine. It’s funny how they come together like that.
Neat. Same angle as the steering column.
Can't wait to see what kind of "seat" you put in this!!
I hope he can find one that fits the patina!
Definitely an old school solution. Looks great.
Wow Matt!! That’s THE SHIFTER For that car!!! Man, that car is really coming along!!! 🇺🇸🧰🛠
every thing you do gives me a great big smile that shifter is as you say very invo for this car

You know Mike's got to love the Beer reference with the new shift but it really looks like it's going to work out great for you glad to see it's coming along so well for you Matt
Love the shifter, I like how it lines up parallel to the steering column. Great job
Thete is a definite advantage to hoarding vintage parts. The shifter was meant to be. Another milestone.
Bomber style seats would awesome in this ride!
Shifter looks great ....always reminds me of my early days on the local bus from school ....the old GM buses ...the shifter always seemed so unique and old style ..used to love sitting up near the driver just to watch him work the gears
Love the shifter and the way it all came together. Serendipity when things like that happen.
Sitting in that car, with the long shifter and the open roof, I had visions of you turning green with R.F. lettered onto red coveralls. Ed Roth would be proud.
X2 on the Ed Roth statement. The shifter looks like something from the early days. I can also hear you making vroom vroom sounds from here.lol
The shifter is AWESOME, Matt! Thanks for sharing! I also subscribe to the concept of relative improvement! I’m 63 y.o, never learned how to tig weld, but man I sure wish I knew how. Your a great craftsman Matt.

The “big Daddy”. Ed Roth shift lever fits in nicely with the “Chicken Shift” motif of the car. Looking good!
That's a classic Ed Roth shifter, it being so long.
Make sure you shift it with your pinky up. Lol.
Are you going to make the rear window roll down ?
I'd say that shifter found it's home. Looks great in the car!
Nice angles on the camera, and even with the time-lapse, easy to follow what you were doing

It’s so nice when all the pieces of the puzzle fit together so nicely!!!!!
That shifter is sick! It was meant for this build.

That shifter is so badass!! Congrats matt on doing the channel full time
Cool!!! this shifter seems made especially for the Schroll 32! 👍😎
Great episode!
Thanks for the small victories reminder, I’ve been hitting a wall on my T lately.
WOW! I can really see why Chevy was not very desirable now finally looking and really seeing why Ford used metal sheeting in their doors to hang there window cranks and latch assembly while Chevy used wood. Your floor pans came out really looking great!
just freaking awesome shifter..and i dig the steering wheel..your smiles said it all...starting to make great progress..and i see your Dad is back...
That shifter is perfect! And good job with the floors too
That thing is ROCK solid now. Holy crap!
Matt, I thought you might have to call Mike (the electrician) to bend that for you. It looks great! Thanks for sharing. Kevin
It is always fun finding the right part in the pile of stuff that was just sitting on the shelf, and you didn't know you had it.
I saw the amount of work it took to fab the great fitting floor. Now to have an almost easy peasy shifter insert, it's an awesome look with the "big wheel".

Awesome! I always love how a piece speaks to you and says it needs to in the project like it was made for it!
That shifter was meant for that car! Very cool!
Just amazing how they channeled the cars back then. My dad's 33 Chevy was like that. We Z ed the frame lowered the floor back down.
That's a really cool shifter I can't believe you just had it laying around like the old Ed Roth models I used to build when I was just a kid
Love the shifter reminds me of my grandfathers old 36
That shifter is cool, you'll be banging gears in no time. Nice work on the floor too.
Looks good Matt, that seat is going to be practically a pillow.

Looks like the right pieces.are just falling into place. The shifter looks like is has been waiting for this build.
Looks like an Ed Roth cartoon shifter, I guess you're going to have to leave the roof open if Mike is going to ride with you!
Very Cool shifter idea! I thought it wasn't go to work either, but it works great! Im looking forward too the progress on the Schroll 32. I bet Larry would love it. Greg
The Blatz beer tapper handle shift knob is so cool. I remember drinking a few of those long ago.
Baddass! Came in to check it out and smash that like button!
...It’s not like a turn signal switch guys, hit thumbs up, do it!
See how things work out? Really got to thank you for providing such great content.
Loving that shifter and the seating position. I'm 6' tall so I'd likely be laying back pretty far in that hotrod. Looking forward to more progress and getting back to Dad's Daily. Stay safe.

That shifter is perfect for that car
My wife said “that doesn’t look very comfortable”....wait till she see mine...lol

Heh Matt, could see your face light up when you got behind the wheel to check the shifter. This car looks so cool, my fav.
Good retro shifter ... perfect
Very cool Old School! Was easy to imagine Matt supersized head shoulders above the roof and having to reach UP to this bitchin' shifter. Like a Big Daddy Roth t-shirt!
Perfect shifter for a channeled coupe great choice Matt
Big fan of the new shifter, I see a boat load of "hell yes" in your future
Really like the new/old shifter
Fun stuff. Nice work on the floors bud. Nice!
Great job Matt old school
Nice job 👍 those clecos are a little hard on the posterior 😂
He was very careful in his butt placement. I counted them when he got out.
@@imouse3246 😅😂🤣😎

That shifter is kick ass! No wonder your friends wanted to buy it off you!

Hey Matt, I can tell you're a happy camper.Watch out that you don't sit on one of those cleco's.
Brilliant episode, really enjoyed it. Happy Easter.
Soooo sick. Man I'd love to take a cruise in that when it's done . It'll look awesome with the bench in it.
Coming along nicely. Shifter is bad ass!
It fits the car, looks great, hope it works out. Thanks Matt for the video
Looks great !!!!

Yep miss kate is going to love driving this to the salon Matt lol, congrats on your new adventure all the best .
Your content keeps getting better. It was great, to begin with...The cars are cool-beans Man.
Awesome shifter Matt!!! Bringing it together!!
Real nice I really like the car and the shifter came out great.... Good job
Looks cool. We drank Blatz as young hoodlums back in the day. It was cheap and so we're we.
