Absolutely incredible. Of course, RR2 but also the level of access and the collaboration you’re getting with Seawind. A great testament to their company and culture, yea? Also jealous of that food. 😋
Of course, but more than one thing can be true: transparency into their build process with passionate customers, sailors, and creators is smart and strategic on many levels. I don’t think they’re trying to hide it.
Guys your attention to detail is fantastic and can only add to your comfort and safety when your out at sea relying on your wits !! Stay Safe & Fair Winds !!
This isn't anything I would have ever thought I'd geek over, but now I can't wait to see the progress reports. Your enthusiasm is contagious! She's so pretty as she comes to life... even her bones!
As a retired engineer and keen sailor I’m fascinated with the build and assembly process, as well as your reasoning behind each decision. I’m loving your videos. From my perspective you cannot put too much boat building detail in these videos. RR2 is looking great! I have surprised myself by how much I am enjoying the bits where you share what your life in Vietnam is like. Because of your videos my wife and I are looking at joining a tour of Vietnam and Cambodia in November.
Fascinating. So much thought and consideration of function, life safety, and all wrapped in beautiful sleek lines. It is like a marriage between art and engineering.
Look at Nick rattling off some Vietnamese! Impressive, sir. So wonderful to see RR2 coming together and so happy you're sharing it with us. Your excitement is absolutely contagious. Love you guys. Keep the updates coming!
It's great to see the excitement you have for RR2. As an ex-production manager, I'm interested in seeing the boat and the factory build process. Seawind look like a good company to work for.
Differing thicknesses in foam enhance bending stiffness, not so much physical strength, increasing thickness will add substantial stiffness whilst minimising weight as core is of minimal weight. Mitre or bevel on foam enhances bond of laminate to existing surrounding solid laminates and reduces air voids in laminates at this junction. Great video, great to see the tooling and resultant modules. Cheers Guys.
I have that kind of feeling when Christmas is approaching and every day you come closer to opening the wrapped box! ...and you count those days. It looks great, it feels great, and I expect Ruby Rose 2 to sail great. I wish for more! PS - The engine made me drool.
Totally get why you both love the food, street food when you know where to go is the best👍👍 I am a technically minded guy and have sailed cats for 45 years, just a tad smaller than RR2!! But I’m loving the detail…. Keep it coming
I currently watch another couple building their own Cat and then watch you all. The impressive feature is the labor involved. Many perhaps just don't understand that. Even boat repairs such as Parlay Revival and others is a dedication of love BUT the effort to complete the task mindboggling ................................. enjoy
Nicks like a kid in a candy store. His excitement bubbles over really fun to see the enthusiasm. what the heck is with him speaking Vietnamese where did he pick that up?
I love seeing your giddy excitement as you generously share each detail of the 1370 build - really gets us excited about our hull (given how long we'll have to wait)
Nick, your bouncing off the wall and this is by far better then my Physical Chemistry class n 1973. I’m just loving the series! Jody sign up to patron……
Have really loved your channel for years but seeing the joy and excitement while building your new home, RR2, has brought it to a new level. So Happy for you both!
All those visits to the factory and the discussions with the constructors - fantastic, but it makes me jealous 😉 who else will be allowed to visit the built? For me outstanding, that James discusses the jacklines. As they are very important for me - they are rarely constructed on production boats.
2 reasons why I enjoy the boat building videos. I’m an engineer, nuff said on the first reason, yes?! I am also a sailor and the information and insight into the boat systems helps me to be better prepared and self reliant for off shore passages and remote anchorages.
Absolutely loving being taken along on this whole build journey! RR2 is going to be fantastic and you will know every inch of her in depth. The excitement is real!!! Even for us land lubbers. Thank you for sharing so much with us all!
Nick & Terysa- THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! What incredible insight into what really goes into building a glass boat ( Seawinds is obviously quite excellent!). I LOVE seeing all of this behind the scenes stuff- it gives me total joy to watch & learn. (I think you call this 'geeking out'- LOVE it!) If I could, I'd join patreon- that's how much I'm enjoying it! Keep it up, I'm 100% positive that tons of others are enjoying as much as I am!!!
Nick is an expectant father and mother . Fun to see his enthusiasm and to have that degree of design input is amazing . Your videos are excellent and have improved to a new level of excellence.
Absolutely brilliant. Resin fusion is an area I have not spent enough time learning. I used to teach this subject and I have only had a limited exposure to fusion. I agree that it is the only way to build boats...of all sizes. I am eager to see your finished Ruby Rose II plus watch the next assembly stages. Very exciting. 😉😉👍👍
Another informative video by you awesome couple. You have proved great clarity about stages of the build that helps us understand why you chose Seawind as your vessel of choice. Special thanks to the Seawind team for sharing their unique practices.
Fascinating build processes by Seawind, and your detailed coverage is top notch. Those resin lines, when plugged in and full of fluid look like some kind of weird Matrix/Frankenstein contraption.
Great to see you getting so much input , they really seem very flexible about this ! They aim to please. The bits of film of the city look amazing. The food looks tasty.
I'm so thrilled to be on this Journey (via video) with you. The boat looks amazing, even at this stage. Love the factory tours and all your knowledge about the process. Thanks so much!
Super interesting. Back 40 years ago, at various fiberglass shops we talked about the pros and cons of different boat building methods. Infusion was brand new. Going moldless was a big topic then, because of mold cost. This was before CNC machining was popular.
Very interesting to see the parts being made ready for the construction. The cut lines in the foam for drawing the resin through is genius. It's incredible seeing the thought process for placement of jacklines and preventer lines. I'm so used to seeing completed boats where these decisions were made long ago that it never even crossed my mind how much thought would go into their placements. Refits usually don't come across the placement issue other than to shift lines a few cm over from the original position.
Great vids as per usual guys. Love seeing the new home under construction. Why not mix it up a bit as well, if it not to late and all the footage is already in the can, and show a bit of Vietnam outside and what you do when not at the build
It would nice if y’all could show a little excitement 🤣. I truly enjoy these videos. The construction techniques are much more than “Next Generation “. Thank you for sharing!
Interesting comment from Nick, this is the way to build a boat. Close, they are using the best known techniques for building composite structures of reasonable cost. Why would I know? I worked at Boeing in composite manufacturing. Boeing is not cost sensitive. They are weight sensitive. But as a research person, it was my job to know many other focus points. Simply, the SeaWnd people know how to build a balance of low weight and reasonable cost. The computer design gives lowest reasonable weight given the cost constraints. Nice job SeaWind.
Your new home is looking better every video. It’s nice to see the as-is and the what-it-will-be segments back to back. It helps us non-boaters understand what is there and what will be in the finished boat. Regarding the non ordering meal; were you able to determine what you were eating or is that something you don’t ask if you don’t what to know?
I am really enjoying watching this process! How exciting! I really like the way they are building these boats! Engineering of these boats makes so much more sense than what I have seen on other boats brands. I am a nerd/geek, so I am looking at everything really closely. The infusion process just overwhelms my neurodivergent brain with all those hoses going everywhere are once! LMBO
Love watching the build process, at least small portions of it all. Fascinating. It isn't out on the blue, or diving, or racing; but it is still an interesting side of boat life that most have not seen before.
Always fabulous.... but as someone who has fallen overboard and just about died (I didn't just for reference) may I suggest doing the best you can to get the jack lines as far inboard and central as possible. You don't want to ever drag in the water.... you should be able to construct a system whereby if you fall you can NOT go over board or if you do it is just your legs. Trust me.... watching your boat sail away without you is no fun.
This is an amazing journey guys, so interesting & credit to you & the team there for allowing this. Nick are you losing weight, starting to look pretty trim! Vietnam must agree with you!!! ⛵💪✌❤
Impressed that you've picked up a "bit" of Vietnamese - are you doing language classes whilst there as well? Perfect time to blend the learning with real world use.
He speaks French and Italian. He’s got a very good ear for language- his mother speaks no less than 6 languages (fluently!) so she’s been a really amazing role model for him
Yeah I’m going to sit these videos out as I’m not really interested in the boat build! But I can see that heaps of people are so I’ll see you when it’s getting close to finished!
Great insight guys to both the boat and Vietnam 👍🏼 make sure the preventer cleat has plenty of reinforcement underneath it. We ripped our midpoint cleat out on the Lagoon 440 with a strong gust on the boom.
Looking good guys. Lets see more of the stages of the vacuum infusion process and the steps they use to complete the whole progress. Also what steps are they taking or rather how do they stop the foam core from absorbing water with time like a spunge?
Absolutely incredible. Of course, RR2 but also the level of access and the collaboration you’re getting with Seawind. A great testament to their company and culture, yea? Also jealous of that food. 😋
Thanks mate 🙏
They're doing it for the advertising

@@i_am_am_i Correct and it works for me!

Being so close to the build and enjoying all that Vietnam has to offer is bloody special.
The fact that you speak the local language sets you miles ahead of a lot of people. Love the detailed video's, keep it up and enjoy.
Guys your attention to detail is fantastic and can only add to your comfort and safety when your out at sea relying on your wits !! Stay Safe & Fair Winds !!
I like the local flavour, seeing the local eateries and street life it lends to a more rounded and exotic show. 🍜🍡🍲🥘⛵⛵⛵
As a Vietnamese who live in the USA for 35 years, I appreciate the local video and culture video footage. Keep up the great work

I understand about 10% of what you're telling us, but the excitement is 100% effective. I'm loving living vicariously. Thanks.
Thank you so much Mike
Fascinating. So much thought and consideration of function, life safety, and all wrapped in beautiful sleek lines. It is like a marriage between art and engineering.
Impressed by hearing you speak Vietnamese, Nick!

Thanks mate!
I was about to say this! Loving the build process behind the scenes and the life in Vietnam!
Wait!!! Was that Nick conversing in Vietnamese?? Mate, you never cease to amaze!
I was so happy to hear you speak Vietnamese!!! Go nick!
It's great to see the excitement you have for RR2.
As an ex-production manager, I'm interested in seeing the boat and the factory build process. Seawind look like a good company to work for.
Cheers mate. Glad you’re enjoying the series 😊
Stunning series mixed with the life of a couple of adventurers... What more can one ask for...
Enjoyed the Crowded House reference! One of my favorite bands and albums!
Can't wait to see the birth of this beautiful baby.... wishing you guys many many safe passages and great memories to last a life time.

Watching the complexity of the construction really helps us understand the justification of the price. R&D is no small feat.

The number of man-hours alone is insane!
@@rickemmet1104 to true. The 1370 is in my top 3. Time to delivery may become my issue.

That foam stuff is FASCINATING. Also, I had no idea Ho Chi Minh was so beautiful. Love seeing the city.

Make sure when you put the new engine put the new clear fuel filter that you can be able to drain that time of the time it is easy to replace them
I'm loving this stuff.
How exciting
Quite amazing, frankly! Give me more please😀
