Octarius was my first foray into Kill Team, I haven't played yet but was very disappointed that they put the datacards in a book instead of as actual cards.
I'll be printing off some smaller cards. Much better than using the book, especially when you have 10 operatives.
Short answer to your question: "Yes, indeed. Goes without saying." Was going to buy this, but like you, I have enough going on already and this stuff is not really new. May buy the book at some point. Will keep eye out for the next set and might buy if all new. Think I will end up getting some extra terrain in a month or two, but lots of options for that.
So many terrain options out there.
The long answer is yes as well. I want those new sisters and I haven't got the terrain or much other pro made terrain for that matter but I'll find them on Ebay for that price

Of course prices (US) are going up, the dollar is practically in free fall.
Anyway, one further potential problem with this box... The Imperialis terrain is going the way of the dodo, so the contents of this set don't really go with anything else you can still buy. All of it disappeared a year or so ago.
I think only the Ruins are left (and I think there's a set in the box), and the Sanctum because that's in the Sisters codex, but... that's it.
I'd love to see some new terrain in the upcoming box sets. Although this does still look cool.

E-bay is a decent place to get the bits you'd like if you're not willing to pay the full whack. I'll have a gander for the terrain though I imagine the sisters will be priced high and popular, as will the upgrade sprue for the tau.
Be cool if the terrain goes for a cheap price.
I've only played one game of Kill-team, but looking at the stats of the Noviate Superior weapons, why is the bolt pistol even there? The plasma pistol, shooting standard has the same stats exept it does 2 more damage base, and has AP1. Am i missing something here? The way weapon options are handled in kill-team so far really puts me off.
It's also an option for big 40k whete you may want to build the squad for 40k and dont want to pay the extra for the Plasma Pistol
Fluffy reasons perhaps. I know with space marines bolter weapons get to shoot again with bolter discipline
@@knightmaher1 That is a possibility, i will say though, i'd still rather go with the plasma pistol then pay 1 CP to fire the bolt pistol again.
As for it being an option in 40k: that's fine, my issue isn't that the bolt pistol is there at all. It's why it's there in its current form. It doesn't really need to be. It's not a legitimate option for a kill-team player unless there are some good stratagems.
I'd figure the bolt pistol is the default weapon with the plasma pistol as an optional upgrade that costs a bit more than base price of the unit in 40k
@@doomguy9049 killteam doesnt have pointscost for weapons. Thats not a thing, at least not in the compedium and octarius rulebook.

Warhammer is expensive period. But I bought Octarius when it shipped and I'm just finishing painting the terrain. I still have to paint the orcs and guard and that's gonna take another month or so. I have a box of Chalnath at my feet to pick up next. So divided over the months, it's not too expensive. Before all of this it took me 3 weeks to paint one box of Plague Marines. Another 2 weeks to paint 10 Poxwalkers. If you divide up your purchases according to playing time, most people can manage. Plague marine box $50 (Amazon) is really not too expensive.

I think the concept is a solid idea, as long as they introduce new terrain and new kill teams. Where they fumbled with this was the upgrade sprue and recycled terrain.
I like the terrain/board/kill team combo too. Would be great to see some new terrain in the next sets.
I mean the terrain is solid, but if they had new tau models I would have definitely ordered.
I think this is the wrong terrain for the game. Kill team is pretty vertical and this only has 2 ledges because this terrain was made for 40k which more horizontal
Are we expecting GW to release the sisters models separately in the future? That's really the only part I was interested in with this one.
They'll likely announce it in a couple of weeks, but yes.

You're better off getting them off ebay. GW really likes to drag their feet when it comes to releasing things out of boxed sets. Still no kommandos or krieg being sold separate so expect to wait at least until the next expansion if you REALLY want to buy them officially for some reason
£5 more than I expected....I want the tau team and the terrain. And can and will use the sorroritas to attempt to get either my wife or daughter into killteam(amd nuns with guns are by far my best chance to do so) so for me it's definitely worth the price.

I was sort of contemplating this set for the Sisters, but this set doesn't do too much else for me at that price. Now, the new Warcry release has me VERY interested.

do you know if these Sisters kill team is better than the Sister kill teams you can make from the compendium book?
I haven't made a comparison yet, but I think the extra abilities, spec ops, tac ops etc will be much better.

Warhammer is supposed to be for everyone. Unless you can not afford it then it’s not for everyone.
If you're too poor to play warhammer, you should look at why that is and fix it. It has always been a pricey hobby, that will never change and I played since 1987.

@@grendelprime166 For one grand you can get a decent computer and tons of games. For one grand you can get dozens of tabletop games from other companies. For one grand of Warhammer you get one or two armies, or somewhere between 3-6 boxed sets, with rules that are GUARENTEED to be obsolete in two to three years. I can "afford" as much Warhammer as I like, but does something like that sound appealing? Unless you're living wildly irresponsibly, you only have so much money and time to spend no matter how much you make. Games Workshop has to compete for customers, end of story.
Does it has yhe main rules for kill team or the book is just a supplement that requires the main rules ?
This is just the supplement so you will need the separate main rules book to play this too.
I built a kill team sized trench battlefield terrain board for my kriegsman, and now im working on a ruined city board to connect to it using some terrain pieces from the warhammer command box and im gonna use the set from the chalnath box when it arrives as well.

A little on the pricey side in my opinion, however that’s not going to stop me from preordering it on Saturday. I enjoy playing kill team a lot, and I think we have barely scratch the surface on what this game system can do. I’ll be buying every release as it comes out.
It's got a huge amount of depth to it for sure. I'm still working through Octarius and loads to do!

Even in Wayland and element games they are pretty good prices. I'm ordering the octarius box tomorrow and for chalnath Ill buy the book and proxy in terrain from battle systems and buy a pathfinders team and the Mrs already has sister so we are good there lol

They said they were going to release one of these every quarter for a year. This is right on schedule
I like this idea of combining terrain with kill teams but for me it’s just coincided with some other products I’d rather get before this one. It would be good to release separate kill teams, though. The cynic in me might think they will keep bringing out sets with one new Kill Team and combining it with existing terrain and an older faction to reduce existing stocks or simplify the production.
If it was easier to play more kill teams (as it is with Warcry) and I didnt have Tau coming with Imperium magazine and Deadzone wasn’t released this week, then I’d get it! 🤪
They really need a box with both required books to play this game. Until then I'm not touching kill team 2.0

I think sales volumes would significantly increase if they sell the Killteam’s as stand alone.

A starter box is needed, but not as a format for every release.
I fear this pay barrier may kill the game.
The ability to buy the books separately would also be better, though it feels like the rule content should really have been in the core book.
The terrain seems a little too sparse to me. They should have put in enough for someone to have enough to cover the board, in my opinion.
If you’re using only the terrain in the box, those sisters are getting shot off the board.

Even though the tau kit isn’t completely new I do prefer it to the sister sculpts. The sisters just don’t do it for me and I thought kill team was sold as teams of elite warriors not noviciates? The terrain is cool though I wish there was more of it. Kill team is my thing but I’m undecided if this box is?

I could buy the current pathfinder squad, a regular SoB squad and a box of equivalent terrain for less than the Chalnth box price. So the rest goes to a book with a few new rules in it and another board and dice??? So basically, no discount, just early access to the noviatates? Nope, not getting it...

@@tabletopskirmishgames The Shadow Throne set, that's probably going to be more interesting. Boxes like that end up with a rather good discount compared to buying everything seperate. And as I don't have any custodes, this is a nice start for them and GSC, I only have the figures from the preious Kill Team box. So now I would have a small army.

I think Octarius looks like a much better deal in comparison. Feels like they actually made an effort for that, whereas this new one feels like it’s just been chucked together? Hard pass for me and the waiting game for the Space Marine edition begins…

I compare it to octarius and think its to much. It doesn't come with rules, tokens, measuring widgets or cards. Also comes with less climbable terrain which is pretty important. Probably won't do it
Octarius was so good, it's going to be difficult to beat it for sure.
Given the inflated prices already charged by GW, it would have been a simple matter for them to absorb the price increase which other manufacturers (with far lower margins) must pass on.
Is it too expensive? Yes.
But that's just GW in a nutshell.
So it doesn't include the actual pathfinder team? Only an upgrade sprue? So $170 plus the cost of the Tau
It does have the original Pathfinder team spurs PLUS the upgrade sprue. Sorry if I worded that in a way that sounded like it was only the upgrade in the video. 👊

I have no illusions about GW doing me any favors with their prices, so this is no shock to me. I like everything in the box, so I’m in. For future boxes, however, I’m going to try and just buy the books from parted-out sets on eBay. If they come out with a GSC box, though, that’ll be tough.

Not getting this one. I already have the terrain from previous edition of KT and I have plenty of terrain boards. Don’t like the sisters models and the Compendium already has good Tau fire team options. Jerk move by GW to put universal rules for terrain in an overpriced expansion. Lastly, I too am interested in the upcoming Warcry releases and resources would best be used for those. Thank you for producing these videos on your channel!

Sadly that seems to be the theme with new KT. Either play with the typo-ridden compendium or buy white dwarf magazines and $50 narrative books for bespoke teams.
I can’t justify buying it having just brought Kill Team from Wayland Games (cheaper and I didn’t have to wait for it to be made). I would have preferred the new Kill teams in individual boxes and cheaper

I've got two friends who are the target audience for this, and even they are passing on it. Super into Tau and Sisters. Lots of disposable income. It's the armies they main in regular/big 40k. And they even split boxes all the time for other other armies. But they're gonna pass on this.
A lot of people seem to be skipping this one.
Love KT, sisters, and Tau. I'm passing on this box though as I just don't see the need. The only thing I'll pickup separately is the book.

I thought we would see the Kommando and Krieg kill team boxes before this set. Someone suggested that they still have too many Octarius sets to push so moved the release around.

As always with GW the price of everything separate is still more than the box so you can't really say it's a bad deal, but it is a significant downgrade from octarius.
Especially the terrain. There's so much less of it, I don't care if in-game most of that board would still be obscured, I don't see why they included two sets of the ork terrain but now there's only one.
More terrain would have made it a bit more appealing for me.
I'm as excited to see where the terrain goes as the new models per set. We've got the "basics" (heights, doors, walls), so what now? Imagine having a Tyranid Hive Fleet, or a Daemon World setting. As far as basic terrain being behind a paywall, they are literally giving you the rules for it on their homepage, right? You and your opponent, or tournament organizer, agree on what's what, you don't need a kill zone book for terrain
Be awesome to see some new interesting terrain. The articles this week have been great. I don't imagine there are many more new terrain rules in the book so they've probably posted all of them.
I'm incredibly mad that they are locking rules behind yet another HUGE purchase paywall. I already bought a giant killteam box and was hoping to have all the rules to play but if different terrain has different rules and the only way to get those different rules is to buy a whole nother $160+ starter box. I should only have to buy one starter. Not mutiples.

The price is less than I thought it would be. However the teams don't seem to be worth the cost. I was hoping for new sculps for kill team rather than old models added to a starter set. I think I will get the book and see what turns up on ebay.

What did you expect it to be !? Octarious was $30 more and had way more terrain, rules, and way more accessories
The extras were dice, markers/ tokens and rule book. Less terrain but it was similar to blood bowl. Which was £85 pounds with no terrain. That was all new teams and 26 models. Warcry was similar old models new book and about the same terrain only difference was dice and markers and tokens. They charged the same and removed chaotic beasts. It seem that this is good value if you want the terrain and the models. I just don't see the value in this and I can normally convince myself to buy everything.
Yes. So its come to my attention that the price of cardboard boxes must have gone up 900% of the regular value. This is why any, kit or set that comes in a box costs easily 5 to 6 times the real value.
So if GW wants to combat the high price of boxes they should use plastic bags and bubble wrap. Then they could sell this.set for 25$

Octarius will take some beating, it was a great set.
Really dislike the sisters team styling. I think the upgrades to the pathfinders make them look worse than before. As a note, the a-team used Mini-14 rifles often not AKs.

I'm probably going to get it, mostly because kill team lets me mess around with more armies, Tau and Sisters are both ones I wanted, and being relatively new to the hobby, I don't have much terrain at all, besides the Octarius stuff. But I'm not convinced the character models will be worth it. So, I'll probably get it, but if I feel ripped off or even not super happy, it might be the last one, since orks are one of my armies. That I'm concerned with only the second box? Feels like a bad sign.

We are at £105 already without book, transfers etc and I can get this for £84 I don't see the problem.

Feel like these boxes are just bad products honestly. An expansion that costs more than most big box board games. It doesn’t even have a mini rule book. You’d probably be better off investing the money in therapy if you think this is a good deal. If you have the disposable income then fair enough ofc.
And six months later, Chalnath is now $120 USD as everyone is trying to get rid of these. It's selling so bad that its now in the same ballpark as Adeptus Titanicus, which my FLGS put for 30% off just to get it out of his store pre-pandemic.

Weird how this doesn't come with core rules, rulers, cards or dice, yet the price is still the same as the first one which did.
Octarius was £20 more expensive but I do agree that having to pay extra to get the core rules of a game you want to play is kind of machiavelic.
However, to be fair, I'd rather pay for the book and game essentials once (the ones included in Octarius or separately) than paying for a rule book, dice and gauges which I already have each time I'm buying a new killteam box.

The Novitiates sprues are packed, should be great fun to build them into a Kill Team.
