Great series. You promised to explain the tokens through the videos, but only explained the injured tokens and the objective tokens.

I haven’t looked at Harlequins in detail yet. I’ll take a good look at their datacards this evening and add another reply here later 👊

Something I'd love to see is what all the words in the weapon profiles mean

So for open play we don't get to choose equipment?

As it's written no, but no reason why you can't if both players are happy to.

One thing I am missing... how do you pick your kill team, surely 10 guardsmen are not equal to 10 custodes...

    • @tabletopskirmishgames
      @tabletopskirmishgames 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Each Kill Team has a different amount of operatives, so the Custodes will have fewer operatives that the Krieg.

@@tabletopskirmishgames oh OK, the core rules in the starter box is not clear on this, I had to download the octarious rules and compendium to start understanding list building.
And battlescribe helped me out on equipment points (10 each?)
I'm guessing you only worry about Requisition points in campaigns right?

All you did was read the page from the core book which is unclear and mentions nothing about how to set up your own kill zone or where the missions actually are. The book mention you can set up a kill zone by reading guidance on pages 76-80 but all those pages do is show some pretty pictures of terrain that do no come with the Octarius box. I can't find anywhere where it actually telly you how to set up a board for a simple game!

I read the book so the info is accurate, then film footage to accompany it. Some people like to learn the rules this way as it brings the book to life.
In Open Play you choose a kill zone. You can find the kill zones in the individual missions. For example, Mission 1.1 Plunder is in the Moroch book on pages 76-77, and Mission 1.3 Fuel Run on pages 80-81 of the Octarius book. The maps on each mission show you exactly where to place the Moroch terrain.
If you use the generic missions from the Core Book, they don't focus on specific terrain so you have to adapt and use what you have with your imagination.
In Open Play, you can also choose to set up your own terrain (whatever you have) however you like. You can place terrain anywhere as long as both players agree on the terrain used, and the terrain features. The example boards and info on pages 76-80 are guides to show how you could arrange things.
To summarise, in Open Play you have two options:
Option 1: Follow a mission map from one of the expansion books (eg Moroch or Octarius) and place the terrain where the map tells you to place it.
Option 2: Use your own terrain and imagination to create a fun board to play on. Take inspiration from the example boards, and assign terrain features to the terrain you are using.

When you play a game and go through the Mission Sequence, it will make sense. I recommend reading all the rules and then applying them during some test games.

I like how easy it seems to be to create own missions. This will be great as I’ve got something planned for next month and beyond that will fit this perfectly!
