  • A 1400 mile review of the new Falken A/T Wildpeak Trail. This is the same tire used on the new Toyota Rav4 TRD. It's also really the only crossover/small SUV all terrain tire on the market. I give you my honest opinions and impressions here.
You can also read more from Falken here: www.falkentire...
I purchased these tires from SimpleTire.com and had them installed by Discount Tire. I would have purchased them from Discount Tire, but they were unavailable at the time.

What sold me on these tires is how calm he is talking about them while driving the car as if the road was wet by rain. That inspires confidence. I just installed toyo open country at3’s on my crosstrek 2 weeks ago. On a crosstrek it had pitch sound starting around 25. As much as I wanted to keep them I couldn’t get over the hum they made. I traded them in today for the falken wp trails and immediately notice the hum was not there. I’m glad you made this video and happy with the swap. Also the tire shop gave me a refund difference as these are cheaper than the toyos. Thanks man.

just got these for my Renegade. Once they got them balanced right they seem awesome. Braking is really good. Little roar but lower tonr and more mellow than my road tires. Feels like I sit taller now, great stance and look.

Funny that both crosstrek and renegade owner here
I drive renegade everyday with the falken wildpade on
While my beloved drives the crosstrek with stock factorys road tire….(which I drive occasionally)
My Jeep run great with the falken, on road or off road
While our crosstrek also run very well with the on road style all season factory tire, on road and off road too
      That’s a little bit ironic 😂

Love these tires. Bought them for my 2018 Nissan Rogue SV a week before the heavy snow storm in the northeast (NY). These tires held perfectly in the snow, both on highway and back roads. I truly believe these to be the perfect cross between all season and winter tires. best of all a 65K factory warrantee. Fair warning, these tires, though the same size as the original (225/65/17) turns out to be about an inch or so larger. They still fit perfectly with no rubbing. Also worth mentioning, I agree, no extra road noise compared to my original tires and yea, I seem to have lost about 1mpg compared to original stock tires.

    • @Pelletgagecom
      @Pelletgagecom 3 ปีที่แล้ว

If the tire is actually larger diameter, you might expect that the mileage shown on your odometer is less than that with a smaller tire, and a commensurate difference in the MPG...

I've got an 05 Toyota Sienna AWD. I was going to get a larger tire because I couldn't find an A/T tire in my size, but then I came across these. Decently priced as well. I think I'm going to go for it as a loss in mpg isn't a big deal to me. Thanks for the review!

Coincidentally found your video. But great I did, cause I thought about getting either the KO 2s or the Wildpeaks for my 2019 Crosstrek. For the Falken I mostly found some reviews when they were mounted on trucks. Really just what I was looking for. We get a lot of snow here, and I heard they might be better in snow than the KO 2s. Your video helped me with the decision. Thx 👍

You lost mpg also during the winter. Everyone does in winter climates don't forget. Was looking at the toyos too as mentioned below. I'm planning to purchase a Rav4 Prime PHEV (as soon as they're more readily available) and I will definitely swap out the factory tires for a set of these. Based on my research, this is a great year-round tire for the ever changing conditions here in Ohio. I will be camping off road fairly regularly, so this seems like the perfect tire for my needs. Most people don't seem to be losing quite as much in fuel economy as you are, but that is a very important factor to me since I drive 25,000 mi per year.

If you bought them in the winter, then that's not an accurate representation of your fuel economy. If it's cold, particularly with Subarus boxer engine, you lose a few MPG. I lose about 4 MPG on average in my forester during the colder months. When it's warmer I can easily get 30+ MPG.

  • @JonLabbe

What in the world. The Toyota RAV4 TRD new tires, Falken WILDPEAK A/T Trail, have a much lower Treadwear rating and Traction rating vs. the retail version of the tire. We are talking close to half the Treadwear.
    Toyota version: Treadwear 360 / Traction B
Retail Falken version (as stated by 3rd party tire dealer websites): Treadwear 680/ Traction A.
This is nuts. I would fear the Toyota OEM version won't come even close to a 3 year lease running approximately 13,500 miles per year. Don't want to replace tires on a lease. Never have had to on vehicles with tires in the 600+ Treadwear rating in the past.
    Thoughts?

These tires suck in deep snow. Especially deep wet snow. I ran Contintental Terrain Contacts on my Forester before these...but for whatever reason wanted to try the Falkens. Have hated my decision since day 1. These Falkens underperform in every category compared to the TerrainContacts. Don’t waste your money if you live in snowy mountainous climates...and learn from my mistake...stick with what you know works well
