What Software Do You Use to Animate? (Pixel Art)

- Ah the question that never stops coming.
As mentioned in this video, I've made this video to have something I can send to people when I inevitably get answered this question once again.

In some ways this ease of use reminds me of what Adobe Flash provided back before Adobe Animate.
Any chance for a beginner to pixel art video? Maybe things to focus on or a learning path? Great video btw!
Thanks! As for the video idea, I'll certainly add it to my list and maybe one day I'll get round to it 👍
@@nootall Appreciate the consideration!
Would also really appreciate such a video.
Seeing your work flow and what one should focus on in your eyes would be great!
"now if that's all you want then I'll see you later."
Cool video and all . But what software do you use for animating ?
Hi tunezz, thanks for the question!
Believe it or not I actually don't use any software. All of what you see are a sequence of photos I've taken in real life like they did back in the old days
@@nootallwoah, what practical effects are you using for the “UI”?
Timelines in ps is still dreadful. All their R and D went to Ai generative fill. Ps's timeline hasn't changed one bit.
Yeah adobe sucks in general lol
i compiled it myself so it was absolutely free for me.. lol
would you say that still worth learn pixel art?
In what context? If you're just trying to have fun with it and create things for yourself then I don't think it's ever not "worth" learning.
and if I were to make on indie or pixel art style games?@@nootall
For fun and art, yes
For games, no
@@herrice3227why not for games?
@@herrice3227 Dead cells, undertale, celeste, sea of stars, risk of rain reborn, heretics fork, dave the diver, terraria, noita, enter the gungeon and I could go on and on.
Hi, is there any possibility of designing the logo in Aseprite? Can it export vector pictures?
You can do logo design sure, but Im not sure if you'd be able to export it as an SVG directly from aseprite, I've never tried
U can use Krita it's free and can do animation
U need a tutorial for that and done
One time the Alt+N will be found... And new frames will be added
ohmagawd. there's a shortcut.
@@nootall yeah
Just got Aseprite 4 days ago and been making pixel art daily since. Did my first animation ever on it with no problem.
There's a very small learning curve to the program and a couple guides sorted that out in under an hour. Could not recommend more for pixel artists.
Hey that's awesome, thanks for sharing 👍 glad to hear it's been relatively easy so far. Do you have history with other similar kinds of software? I found that helped a lot for me when starting out.
@@nootall I used an old Gimp version prior to this, but found the program to require more effort for the same results in Pixel Art with less relevant tools and a cluttered UI. Only did 1-3 pics a YEAR on Gimp, across 12 years. Gave up on trying animation.
Aseprite separating frames from layers helps infinitely! And link cells are the cherry on top. Sooo much easier than learning animation off just frames. It took me 17 hours to make a 20s animation, but I'm proud of the result and I'm learning how to be more efficient as I go!
@@Kmn483 Absolutely, the timeline is a real blessing lol. And a 20s animation in pixel art is some real commitment! I can't say i've done anything close to that. A lot of frames 😶🌫
I was on their website wondering if I should buy it cause even 20$ is actually a lot for me... Maybe I'll just buy it whenever the pay comes in lmao, gotta be crazy and lots of pasta for a month.
You could compile aseprite from source it has the same features, after all it is open source. I would give you a link but you know youtube these days, and if you don't want the hassle at all try libresprite its FOSS and a fork of aseprite tho it does lack some features(or so I've heard) I use libresprite and tbh I don't find any major things that are missing.
on steam is 16$
What software do you use?
This is a joke.
A very good question I'm glad you asked, I have actually been experimenting with windows movie maker and I've found that it is now the superior choice
@@nootall Really? I prefer adobe illustrator for my pixelart, much more efficient. And then after effects if I need to animate it
well i tried to msg you on twitter incase you was escaping again but i couldn't, it's cool to see you again ! keep up the good work
You couldn't message me? hm thats weird, my DMs should be open to everyone.
But yeah time has honestly flown by since my last upload, it doesn't feel like it was as long ago as it was.
But yep, I've set up a more organised schedule since then and so things will be more consistent 👍
@@nootall its about twitter not you it says i have to sub on twitter so i can msg anyone who didnt follow me back :'D , glad to see you !
