  • A two day trip on the brilliant Sinnis Terrain 125 water cooled. On my own on day 1 but joined by Dave on day 2 at Bala. Great weather on the first day but very wet on the second. Routes were devised in the main using Calimoto.
    The roads used were perfect for this bike.

    I know it’s a late comment but thank you on this immersive video of doing what the bike was designed for. At the tender age of 50 something, I’ve been, step by step coerced by my son in motorcycling so your video really serves to whet the appetite!

      Thank you Dave for your comment. All comments are gratefully received. It's good to hear that you enjoyed the video and that it might persuade you to try something similar. Wales is a great place to ride a motorbike whether it's large adventure bike or a smaller machine such as the Sinnis Terrain. If you want to EXPLORE Wales, then a smaller bike such as this allows you to turn down any little road that looks interesting because the bike is so un-intimidating. Even if the road becomes unrideable, the bike bike is so light it's really easy to turn it around. I cannot speak too highly of the Sinnis Terrain. It's comfortable for long days in the saddle, well made, economical and the luggage that comes fitted as standard allows you to have a quick trip away at a moments notice. They now come with a SEVEN YEAR WARRANTY! Amazing. Cheers, Phil.

    My Terrain arrived in December, great looking bike and feels bigger than a 125cc. Very comfortable and loads of fun, so much so I started my own vlog. Great new hobby! Totally agree they are very happy at 50 - 55 mph!

      Thanks for that Bumble. My aim was to show how lovely the back roads of Wales are and riding a small capacity bike which is as comfortable as the Sinnis Terrain allows you to take in your surroundings more because the bike is so easy to ride. Sorry for not replying sooner - been on a bike trip! Thanks again for your kind words. Phil.

    Thanks for this Phil, My Terrain is on order and should be in the UK today so not long now I hope. Seeing honest reviews without any bias from Chinese manufacturer haters who claim these bikes would be no good on a long trip. I am lucky enough to have country lanes to explore close by and the Terrain will be ideal!

      Thanks for your kind words Andrew. "Chinese manufacturer haters" - yes I take your point. A lot of these haters I suspect have never actually tried such a bike. It's an easy bandwagon to jump onto. Their loss, I think.
      I'm hoping to improve the picture quality of this video! Bear with me!

      Thank you for your kind words, Lester. The helmet cam certainly creates the immersion effect. The "track" was worse in real life as it were. It's always the case. Both ends of the bike were "fishtailing" at one point but to it's credit it coped admirably.

    I rather enjoyed this little trip you took on the SinnisTerrain 125, the B roads are lovely, why with all the leaves turning into those beautiful autumn colours. You are so right, a 125cc bike for this purpose is just perfect! Although I have seen incredible videos of "Ed March" riding a Honda c-90 across the globe!! It was very nice of you to send this to me in your comment. The fact that you got the G1 Scrambler first, and then switched and got the Terrain was interesting. I too find the G1 a bit on the small side as well. But went with the flow of things and the experience has been great so far. My G1 (which by the way goes by the name "Indy") already has 1.600 kilometers on it, and so far so good.
    I believe I have a one day window tomorrow where the weather will let up. I will of course take advantage of these few hours to do a nice day trip myself before the rain pops back in. I was thinking of going to Segovia which would be about 220 kilometers in total from where I reside. So happy to be able to travel , and actually enjoy the scenery on a much smaller bike than I'm used to! B-roads here are very nice as well.
    I'm now 62, no spring chicken but still strong, healthy, and riding a motorcycle for me is great therapy, a wonderful thing to be doing. It's actually kept me young, many people think I'm 40 years old!!!

      Thanks again, Lefty. yes, riding a motorbike keeps you feeling young at heart I'm sure. I am 65 and still enjoy riding abroad with my wife, fully luggaged up (but not on the Sinnis!) and believe we will continue for some time yet. Riding a bike like the Sinnis or the Zontes puts a different slant on exploring the world and I believe sometimes it is a better tool for the job rather than a bigger, heavier, more cumbersome bike. They are fun rather than thrilling. Hope you have fun on yours! Cheers, Phil.👍

    I'm from the welshpool area and own a terrain if you fancy a ride out. When at Lake Vyrnwy, you could have gone alongside the lake and onto a stunning road over to Bala. The other side of the lake is equally stunning over to Dinas Mawddwy. I've yet to find out if the Sinnis will get up the steep hill above 20mph from Dinas Mawddwy to Dolgellau! Be alright if someone's towing a caravan!.

    • @phillangford4059
      @phillangford4059  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment. Well, recently, Sinnis have started selling the Terrain with a seven year warranty! This means they must be very confident in their product. I liked my Terrains very much - both of them: the air cooled and the water cooled. And whilst the water cooled version has certain advantages such as more power and a sixth gear, the air cooled one has no water pump to worry about and no concerns over water leaks or radiators that might break in the event of a fall. I put an "O" ring chain on mine and this cut down on the frequency of chain adjustment. I still think they are a cracking bike and have no hesitations over recommending them. BUT they need to be used in the right environment to get the best out of them and that means avoiding motorways and dual carriageways. As this video shows, little back roads are perfect and the Terrain makes a great little bike on which to go exploring. Have you seen my other Terrain video : "Sinnis T125 Movie"? Worth a look. Cheers, Phil.

    Hi Phil, very much enjoyed your trip. I have never had a motorbike, I am 65 and contemplating taking the Cbt. I very much like the idea of getting out and off the beaten track, maybe a couple of nights camping. The Sinnis Terrain looks like it would be a good bet. I have seen an slightly older air cooled 5 speed. If I may ask, have you found the bike to be robust and reliable. Best wishes. Kim

      @phillangford4059  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kim. Thank you for your comment. The Terrain is a great little machine and is VERY friendly. It is ideal for exploring and taking a tent would allow you to go to places off the beaten track. As for being robust - I have found the three Sinnis bikes that I have owned to be just that. Further evidence of how good they are can be found on You Tube if you search for "Riding from Reality" with Paul and Holly. They took two air cooled Terrains 10,000 miles to compete in the Mongol Rally. They had no issues at all and were loaded up to the hilt with gear.

    Hi Phil. Can the panniers and top box be removed quickly and easily?
    I don't have access to a garage and therefore the bike would live under a quality cover. But the sizing of it with storage attached would prohibit that. Enjoyed your video. Thanks.

    • @phillangford4059
      @phillangford4059  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, glad you enjoyed the video. I just wish I could get the quality the same as my other video - Sinnis Movie. The panniers and top box require a socket set to be removed. Dead easy but not what could be described as quick release. Four bolts for each box. I bought simple shoulder bags off Ebay for the top box and left side pannier ( item number 203050443744 ) and just a simple loose bag for right hand pannier which has an odd shape inside because of the exhaust. If the bike is to live outside I would strongly recommend treating it with acf-50. See the Missenden Flyer's video which shows how to apply it. R & G heated grips are a Godsend and cheap at £36.95 off Ebay. Hope this helps, Phil.

    • @phillangford4059

      Hi There. I simply left the bike behind the hotel with the steering lock on. Generally, I don't worry too much about security. Places like Bala in Wales are quiet back-waters. I don't like cities so I'm never likely to leave the bike there. The best form of security for any bike is to cover it with a lightweight bike cover. Itchy Boots does that it seems to work very well for her. Thanks for your comment.

      Hope you have as much fun on your Sinnis as I have on mine. I would highly recommend treating your bike with ACF50 as I have. It keeps the bike completely corrosion free. See the Missenden Flyer's video of how to apply it.

    The best 125 I've ever ridden was in fact the old MZ ts 125. Not fast, only 55mph, but quite torquey and only 4 gears and really comfy. This poor Sinnis sounds like you're constantly wringing its neck.

    • @phillangford4059
      @phillangford4059  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's interesting, I too had an MZ ET125 in 1986 brand new. Cracking little bike although the pre-mix was not the most convenient arrangement! From memory, I recall that it too had to be worked fairly hard to make reasonable progress but being so lightweight and nimble, I could maintain enough of a pace to manage well enough. The Sinnis red lines at 9,000 r.p.m. and sounds quite buzzy but is none the worse for it. On the little back roads of this video, it was perfectly happy and only had to be worked harder on the main roads. The engine is very robust and not highly stressed as borne out by some of the trips other people have undertaken - see Paul and Holly from Riding from Reality who took theirs 10,000 miles to compete in the Mongol Rally. Paul's bike got its first oil change at 5,000miles! Have a look here too, at Andrew Perry taking his to Slovenia:
      www.sinnismotorcycles.com/2020/01/10/uk-to-slovenia-on-the-sinnis-terrain/
      I often choose the Little Sinnis over my bigger bikes because it is so much fun. Riding a smaller capacity machine is very rewarding but in a different sort of way. Anyway, thanks for commenting, Tom.
