    “Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal, nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947. More commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It’s the world’s most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn’t break, jam, or overheat. It’ll shoot whether it’s covered in mud or filled with sand. It’s so easy, even a child can use it; and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people’s greatest export.”

      They are trading their shot out, not maintained Chinese AK copies for the decked out M4's for obvious reasons. Most of their AKs have completely worn out barrels and are older than most of you here. I would trade such AK for modern M4 too. While there is some evidence of AKs being used by US troops in Vietnam, it was very uncommon. I've interviewed thousands of vets and gone through tens of thousands pictures and while it periodically happened (mostly in special forces units) it was rare; ammo procurement was a problem. The Chinese AK's (type-56) were the vast majority of AK's used in Vietnam and were no worse than their Soviet counterparts. An argument could be made the later stamped reciever AKs were not as good as the earlier milled ones, but marginally so. Interestingly enough far more SKS rifles were used by the north Vietnamese than AKs. While I'm nit-picking some stuff I did enjoy the video and think you did a great job with the animation and the core idea of what you're trying to get across

    Like said, the Kalashnikov or AK-47 is one of the most prolific weapons of the twentieth century but to me, it represents survival such as having to survive with it while walking through the radiated grounds of either Chernobyl or Russia, wearing only a balaclava and an ushanka or just a plain old biohazard/hazmat suit..

  • @AWACS_Eagle_Eye
    @AWACS_Eagle_Eye 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a little fact. The people at the Kalashnikov Concern factory deny that Mikhail took cues from the STG 44 and was just a coincidence that it the AK and the STG were similar. Another fact is that the AK as said was extremely reliable but it was untrue that AKs needed a lot to produce. AKs are mainly handmade but only have 8 moving parts so it's easier to build and it's reliability is off the charts

    • @BloPsy_Actual
      @BloPsy_Actual 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      AKs are mainly handmade? To build a proper AK, you seriously need a lot of things. You need stamping machines, forging machines for the crucial parts, presses to press the rivets, barrels, barrel pin...
      It's not really cheap to make an AK. The only way to go down with cost since you need a lot of machines, is to make the factory huge as F, just like Tula and Izhevsk.

    • @digitaal_boog

      @@BloPsy_Actual if it’s an AKM then it’s a lot cheaper. The AK47 is expensive as it’s a milled receiver

    • @BloPsy_Actual
      @BloPsy_Actual 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@digitaal_boog Uh, AK-47 was always and only stamped, since AK-47 is a prototype designation.
      The adopted AK was also stamped at first, because that's how it was designed (AK-47), but later was switched to milling because off reasons I don't have time to talk about.
      Yes, making milled AK is bit more expensive, but AKM isn't that much cheaper really. The only real benefit is fast production. It's still quite expensive to setup an AKM factory, much more expensive than for example AR-15 factory.
