Years ago I did a lot of embroidery and learned from books. I am back embroidering but I really enjoyed watching the video and has really helped since I had forgotten so many things.
Hi I am a total novice in embroidery and don't do it often. I have found your videos make it much more enjoyable though, as I'm starting to widen out the number of actual stitches I include. Thank you.
Someone in my cross-stitch group just mentioned satin stitches to me, so I came to look it up. I think I may have clicked the wrong video, but I got into cross-stitch because I was interested in embroidery and didnt know the difference, so I'm happy to watch an embroidery video. But I think I may have just fell in love with your voice, so please forgive me if my interests aren't entirely craft related, but I'm going to let some of your videos play while I do my cross-stitch. I may even end up getting an embroidery kit after a few lol x
Super helpful tutorial.. You've illustrated so well! I think i learned it now and i wish i could show how good it looks!!Thanks for this amazing video!!
For months I thought of trying--glad I found your website a good lesson. Thank you for sharing. I subscribed to your website to learn more about stitching. Thank You!
This was a wonderful video and you are a great teacher! I could listen to you talk about embroidery all day. In the video though you said that the shorter the stitch the better it will look, could you show us how to do a satin stitch with a shorter stitching method? I'm really trying to get a polished almost manufactured look but every time I do a satin stitch it just doesnt look polished at all.
I'm a super beginner and have just discovered this channel. I have never done any embroidery in my life xD this video made me so happy especially when you said "just take it slow and relax". I love how friendly you sound, you have such a nice voice lol. Keen to start :D so i'll be doing more research...really want to do embroidery in rectangular frame tho...wondering if i can just hack an old picture frame?
love how light the vibe is - in this illustration💖 😂Yeah we are doing this because we love it, doesn't have to be perfect at all 😋💙 ✨ Also it was super helpful 🌟 Thank you very much 💯💫
I think it may be because of what tightens the hoop? The thread sometimes gets stuck onto it, whichcan be really annoying! But this is just a prediction.
I'll do it this way sometimes if I'm going to be teaching an image off a lightboard or computer screen. The fabric lays directly on the screen without the hoop in the way
In my school our teachers teach us how to do embroidery and yeah it s because I live in West Bengal, India. And I tell you, you can do exactly like taught in school. Well I tell u I am 10 years old and I like needle work,😊😊 Amazed at your talent 😉.
this is really informative because i've been struggling with satin stitch and confused how many strands to use, thank you ❤ btw your voice reminds me of alicia silverstone 😁
Hi! Thanks for this. When it comes to the stitch, do you take turns stitching above the center stitch and then below, like alternating? Or do you just do what you feel? I’m super new and self taught so I’m grateful for your channel!
which brand should i use for satin stitch? I am searching for it. is it normal satin floss which has 6 strands and you have to seperate each to have a single ply? or it is already like that? thank you..
IM... Im so sorry...Im learning how to stitch... and this is gorgeous and everything buT THE CAT JSUT BARFING IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR VIDEO WAS THE FUNNIEST THING... xD
Generally you want to keep your satin stitches under 1 inch (3cm) because the longer they are, the more they shift. Too long and they'll loosen over time and go all wonky.
Total noob here...what’s the best way to start and end a satin stitch? I would like to do most of my embroidery on clothing or totes, which means it needs to be pretty stable...
I imagine, very novice here so I'm probably wrong but, you either go down the pull your thread under and back through so it looks seem less, or you just sart on the bottom of the otherside and work in a circle. I'm curious to the answer to this as well.
I like the way you talk, embroidery is fun! One question, if I want to outline my satin st , shuld I do it first or after, or both are fine? I really can't get a smooth line by satin st, it's too frustrating for me :P
Actual video starts at 7:00
Thank you❤️👏🏻
omg that is insane that is the longest hold off ever 😭
thank you...lol
Thank u 👌👁👄👁
Thank you
Thank you for mentioning about what the back looks like when doing the satin stitch. It seems so wasteful but apparently I’m doing it right. 😅
What a difference... I've been meaning to test different variations of the strands as a sample for myself and this is so helpful! Thank you!
I am so glad you enjoyed it!

I'm about to do a bunch of crescent moons and starting in the middle seems like a really valuable tip

The moment you said that your cat was throwing up was the moment I hit subscribe! ❤️
Lol I am so glad! I try to be sorta professional but mostly I am just myself. I am so happy you find it relatable! Silly cats.

For months I thought of trying--glad I found your website a good lesson. Thank you for sharing. I subscribed to your website to learn more about stitching. Thank You!
Yay! Just dive in and practice! Have fun!
If you use the full 6 ply it does give you a serrated edge look on your leaf edge like an elm leaf!
Thank you! You make it look easy and enjoyable!

I turned around and yelled at my cat thinking she was the one throwing up. Some experiences are just universal

Your channel is so amazing! One of my fave as an embroidery beginner :)
Aww thanks so much! I appreciate your feedback :)
I like the one strand better! Great job!!
I love listening to explain things.
This was very helpful, thank you!
Great tutorial. Exactly what I was looking for. May I ask why you embroider with the hoop inside up like you have it in this video?
katbaleu no
I think it may be because of what tightens the hoop? The thread sometimes gets stuck onto it, whichcan be really annoying! But this is just a prediction.
I'll do it this way sometimes if I'm going to be teaching an image off a lightboard or computer screen. The fabric lays directly on the screen without the hoop in the way

Hi! In theory I am going down one side and then the other but in reality I tend to do a little back and forth first!
which brand should i use for satin stitch? I am searching for it. is it normal satin floss which has 6 strands and you have to seperate each to have a single ply? or it is already like that?
thank you..
You're hilarious! Love this stitch too,

Thankyou so...... Much for this tutorial
it's very helpful☺
Hi! Can you tell me what kind of fabric you are demonstrating on?
OMG, the cat is throwing up... i immediately hit the subscribe button LOL
I also do the fakey satin stitch.
what kind of fabric is best to embroider with?
The cat throwing up caught me by surprise. Good plot twist.
Silly question but i’m a beginner and want to start a new project, but can you use satin stitches to fill a big space or does it have to be small?
Generally you want to keep your satin stitches under 1 inch (3cm) because the longer they are, the more they shift. Too long and they'll loosen over time and go all wonky.
Crystal Sommer what stitch should I used to fill a big gap then? Cuz i have not idea, do you think brick would be good?
Very nice 😀😀
Thank you So much
The kit I just purchased said to use 6
Great video

Are you asking about how to anchor the floss?
This video is help my work education.😁
Amazing
Thank you! also your voice is really relaxing :D
thanks for this video really helps me a lot :)
Awesome!
Where do you get your supplies? Love your work!
Hello Maria! I get floss from DMC and Lecien, online or at local craft stores. I like to see fabric in person but then buy from fabric.com!
What fabric do you use?
8:31
What kind of thread is that tho??
What fabric is that?
Amazinggggggg 💕♥️💕💝💝🤩🤩 love from dubai 💕♥️
Beautiful thanks
Good video but I wish you showed how you make it to the top (since you start from the middle)
I imagine, very novice here so I'm probably wrong but, you either go down the pull your thread under and back through so it looks seem less, or you just sart on the bottom of the otherside and work in a circle. I'm curious to the answer to this as well.

You mean outline it to "hide" your satin stitch edges? Either way works but I find after easier!
thanks a lot!
But our way is different
We are doing these type of embroideries since 16years...
Wow salamat sa tanan kadugaya
I use two or three strands and it just doesn't look neat . Tried marking lines, changing direction of stitches but still doesn't look neat :(
Keep practicing!! Don't give up. If you need a break try some other stitches for awhile :)
wooow
This is lovely!
Wow
Superb:) Thanks
holo great video
Hi. Are you using perle cottons?? Thanks
Nope! Six-strand cotton embroidery floss. Perle doesn't split into smaller threads like this.
New sub here 😍
What ever happens to 2 being better than one
What thread we use
Here I used DMC cotton embroidery floss but you can use whatever you like!
Useful 👌
Thanks for the info about the cat throwing up. I'm eating lunch.
2
Why are you using the hoop...the wrong way?
Osm
I love your videos I like you can upload a video of how.beard long hair
is the cat ok tho...
Yes thanks for checking! She's on a new diet now :)
Please hindi main bataye
Thank you 😍

I think talking less would make this tutorial easier and simple 😐
Sorry but this is an honest opinion.

The satin stitch is the satan stitch for me 😭 I can’t get it right
