Recently I saw the same while in Cairo, Egypt. these beautiful Victorian and Ottoman palaces left empty and to ruins. I often imagine what it must have looked like during the prime years of these beautiful buildings.

Thanks Kent, it is a trully amazing place and such an amazing structure. When I made the film, only the towers were taken down.... now a few months later, they carved giant holes in her :(.... This is my all time favourite and there is nothing like it in the world.... It's actually taking away my need to explore and make films about it ....

An update on the castle : A group ( stated in the film ) Are fighting to save it , with legal actions to préserve it. Sadly enough the deadline for investors of alternatives to save it, was the 15th of April. Sadly enough ( but as expected) The high demands to save it did not meet expectations. It's as if they made it impossible up ahead, so it couldn't possibly be saved. There was also stated that a rich dude in china, would want to buy the castle. Take it appart to build it up again in China. yet it seems like this also got drowned into the water. They will restart demolition in the upcoming week sadly enough :(
I still remember coming across the first pictures of this place almost 10 years ago and was struck by it's magical attraction. Photos of Miranda have been wallpaper and face screen of my phones and computers ever since. I am thankful for all the UrbanX folks and others who have risked for themselves to visit and photograph and record the history. At least we will always have these. I had always hoped some wealthy rich person would feel the same love and save it and restore it. In the end I blame the family for it's neglect and demise. It makes me wonder why did they dislike this place so much? What happened here so painful they wanted it to go away? Is the family so shallow? or maybe they couldn't admit they did not have the money to save it? When they stripped all the wooden floors for their other castle and the marble - it was the beginning of the end. They should have never been allowed to do such a thing. That tells me maybe they couldn't afford to own it and it should've been taken over by someone who could. It angers me - you can't replace what is lost.
The story behind everything remains a mistery. It wasn't a money thing. The owner own's multiple castles. There must of been more to it. Sadly enough she is gone now :(. Never to be saved. I can assure you she was magical, beyond magnificent. I will miss the place deeply forever...
Miranda now sleeps the eternal sleep, but she lives on in the hearts and minds of countless admirers, both those who saw her in person and those who only knew her through videos like this one. Rest in peace, sweet Miranda. 💔
I feel like crying when I see something like this. Shame on the owner who allowed this desecration - I can almost feel the despair of the stones that are now lying on the ground...... buildings are not lifeless structures, they all have a soul, and this one was shamelessly ruined. Sitting on top of the tower was my favourite place in the world, and I know I'll never find a place that will give me that feeling ever..The nature... the beauty of the castle,despised by it's owner. But maybe that's okay... when I close my eyes. I walk around there... and sit on top of the world. Still can't believe she's gone. I haven't been back there since I made this film.... I think I couldn't take walking trough those woods and not see her coming up on that hill, it would break my heart .
How I understand your feeling because they are like mine..I haven't been on top of the tower..why? because I was under shock twice when I saw her...but it must have been so extraordinary to be there and watch the world around...

When you get up there and see the view, it is all so worthed :) Btw, I do remain cautious and watch very carefully to the ceilings I will walk on the next floor. Overthinking is never good ;)
She looks so different with all of the conical spires removed. I've read that the chateaux on the other side of the valley is owned by the same family and that most of the interior damage was actually caused with their knowledge and consent, as they sold as much of the interior fixtures (fireplaces, spiral staircases, hardwood floors, etc) to the highest bidders over the last 25yrs. I'm happy to see that the demolition was suspended. It leaves a flicker of hope that the right person(s) will come along with the money and expertise to restore her to her former glory, which will be no small feat. There was talk about someone considering taking on the monumental task a few years back, but the estimated €25-35 million cost put them off the project.

Being in the United States, I knew that my chances of ever seeing her in person were slim to none, with slim being several furlongs behind in the race. I've sought out as much history as I could find about her. Ever since I was a child, I've been fascinated, (some would say obsessed), with Victorian architecture and abandoned buildings. I explored my first abandoned home at age 9 and have been hooked ever since. I've been doing URBEX long before there was a fancy name for it. LOL. Thank you for this tender memorial of this (now lost) faded lady. Do you know if there is any footage of the final demolition of Chateaux Miranda?
I think there is some on youtube. There is also a group on facebook that wanted to save her , it has pics and footage of her now...It's called Aresno . There is a link to it in the end of my film. I believe I stumbled upon how she is now on youtube. And as yourself.... I saw her as a kid... And was hooked fforever. I will never forget that magical place and how it was so amazing to spend a few hours by myself in silence on top of the tower. One time I visited with my girlfriend. But most of the times I was by myself. And I can assure you;... It are moments I will never ever forget and treasure forever.

Shame on those who let this happen. Unlike my country, they did not even have a communist era to tear down all castles in Belgium. This shouldn't have happened! I wanted to ask those who are competent in the topic, if there was all the money needed to rehabilitate the building, would it be possible? Okay, the interior desing and most of the floors are gone, all we can see now is basically the shell of the castle, but still... Would there be any possibility that human force could rebuild it? But then I read the comments and became aware of the fact that demolition went on - so there really is nothing to do but mourn. :(

About a year ago I would have said yes. There was a possibility to save her, estimated cost would run up to 25 mill euros. ( I think some more accually). But it was sure possible . Accually , there has been a few nice bids on the castle, but the count refused ./... he's an ass. Such a shame to let the most beautifull castle in Belgium go to waste ....

I think the main problem with the owner is that his an inbred git who doesn't really gives a f#ck about heritage, and believe he has money so the usual " oh its very expensive to maintain..." doesn't stick with this one. At the end it's just an utter shame, belgian authorities are also f#cktards because they removed the castle from listed buildings (surely they have been bought to do that). I just hope is that the owner has the same fate as his property...
thank you. I was looking to see how bad they had done. the roofs needed to go down to build new ones so 9ne could really save this place. if they only had the balls to give me the job and budget I would rebuild this to have the original feel and yet all the modern world safe clean new interior.
I feel you bro, this castle cauight my eyes years ago... and I couldn't ever take it out of my mind. I visited her multiple times. Once it's not used, and there are wholes in the roofs , these places are doomed. Plus there was a fire in the 90's set by some tards. I saw her go worse troughout the years... it's such a shame. I play euromillions just to have enough cash to fix her up and live there forever. Such an exceptional beauty... and a special place to be in...Sadly enough it's getting more and more dangerous. I have much more footage of the explore... but it would take a long movie :) Currently there is still hope to save her... though I highly doubt it that someone will come and have enough money to fix her. Estimated renovation costs runs over 35 mill euros... I think 40 would be more likely... But if I could, I definitly would!

I was fixing it in my dreams and a big group came to help clean up. so I woke up and typed in my search bar. Miranda and then put France. and there it was But I did not get why Miranda as I had all Noise in my searches. then I took a stop and read on Noise. only to find out it was really Miranda. shocked me. see I am a Contractor. and I got guys that would fallow me to help build it. as they all was in my dream. I had not ever hear of this place until late I saw it in my dreams. really odd. but I can fix that place.

It's been empty since 91? That's not even 30 years, and it's so completely decayed! And they removed the pointy roofs, it just doesn't look right without them :(
It went so fast because some kids made a fire in the attic. Burned a hole in the roof. After rain started poorring in it got downhill very quick. Many windows broken by vandals too...Anways... they got what they wanted , she's gone now :(

For now she is still there. About the security guard... can't tell you if he will be there or not. Just a mather of luck I gues. I've visited the castle multiple times. And I never met him, while others went two times and met him twice. The dog is quite gentle , if you get caught, just don't run ( dogs can freak out ) and be nice. He will just ask for your identity and tell you to leave.
For now it's still possible, they were about to demolish it this week, but they stopped it again. Somebody filed demolishing permit as illegal ! So they cannot proceed for now.... It's impossible to say how much time there is left. But If you want, look for lostworld EXP1P on facebook. And send me a message when u are planning to head out there. I can update you then !

The demolition has been stopped by a group of people who want to save it.The question is how long they will be able to postpone the demolition. Glad I could show you a glimpse of her. The Château is huge, extremely beautifull but also in very bad condition on the inside... so beware if you ever get there! Going inside is not the smartest thing to do...Yet her beauty pulls me back time and time again, so if you ask me if it's worth the risk... f*ck yeah it is ! Hope you get there lad...watch your steps!
I think you do! But I'd hurry. There's no way to tell how fast it will be transformed. Could take a few years before they start, they could start next month . But they are slowly cleaning up inside.
We have been able to take a memory of the castle, a baby cat that was abandoned by his mother... He was about 10 days old! We named him Noisy! We saved him from the left tower at the entrance. Now he is 3,5 years old and very happy!!
Het zaakje stinkt enorm. Vlak na het van de lijst werd gehaald werd aanvraag tot sloop ingediend. Het is aangevochten geweest door de associatie die in mijn filmpje beschreven wordt. Ook uitstel kunnen bekomen. De sloop is eigenlijk ook zo goed als illegaal verlopen. Bij werken is er ook " toevallig " brand uitgebroken. Niet veel later lag het helemaal plat :( . Enkel de bijgebouwen staan er nog, naar verluid zou de smeerlap ze helemaal renoveren om zijn dochter in te laten wonen.
Het is een vraag die bij iedereen speelt. Het zou me niet verwonderen als er een familiale haat speelt. Het kasteel was uiteindelijk maar een folieke .... :'(

The owner said it would be too expensive and he does not want someone to get hurt bc so many people went inside... Some people attacked his employee.. Maybe there is something more behind this story... Nevertheless I always feel bad when I see something like this vanish. But it was built long ago. I'm sury many people had to pay a high price to get the money for the Building and they wouldn't be that lucky just because od it's beauty...
Trust me on this one, the owner is nowhere to be trusted. And his employee attacked? Trust me I've met him and he is an insane crazy fuck. The way he was coming at me whenI was nog even on castle grounds are enough to get him suckerpunched. He was lucky to have two more guys with him and I was alone. Don't believe all the cry baby stories of the count and his dog. The count has no respect... nore for history, nore for his family legacy... Not for the architectural value of this place. And he sure has the moeny ;) . He lives in Lausanne in Switserland.... The place to be for tax evading rich fuck .

Shame on those who let this happen. Unlike my country, they did not even have a communist era to tear down all castles in Belgium. This shouldn't have happened! I wanted to ask those who are competent in the topic, if there was all the money needed to rehabilitate the building, would it be possible? Okay, the interior desing and most of the floors are gone, all we can see now is basically the shell of the castle, but still... Would there be any possibility that human force could rebuild it? But then I read the comments and became aware of the fact that demolition went on - so there really is nothing to do but mourn. :(
Thank you so much. She will always remain in my heart and mind. I visited her many times. Now she is gone indeed, or at least 3 quarters is down :( Tower is not accesible no more. It's such a shame. About a year ago I would have said yes. There was a possibility to save her, estimated cost would run up to 25 mill euros. ( I think some more accually). But it was sure possible . Accually , there has been a few nice bids on the castle, but the count refused ./... he's an ass. Such a shame to let the most beautifull castle in Belgium go to waste ....

What's wrong with the owner? Why destroy a piece of history it's not like it's hurting anyone! Restore it! It would be an amazing home!
I think the main problem with the owner is that his an inbred git who doesn't really gives a f#ck about heritage, and believe he has money so the usual " oh its very expensive to maintain..." doesn't stick with this one.
At the end it's just an utter shame, belgian authorities are also f#cktards because they removed the castle from listed buildings (surely they have been bought to do that). I just hope is that the owner has the same fate as his property...
thank you. I was looking to see how bad they had done. the roofs needed to go down to build new ones so 9ne could really save this place. if they only had the balls to give me the job and budget I would rebuild this to have the original feel and yet all the modern world safe clean new interior.
I feel you bro, this castle cauight my eyes years ago... and I couldn't ever take it out of my mind. I visited her multiple times. Once it's not used, and there are wholes in the roofs , these places are doomed. Plus there was a fire in the 90's set by some tards. I saw her go worse troughout the years... it's such a shame. I play euromillions just to have enough cash to fix her up and live there forever. Such an exceptional beauty... and a special place to be in...Sadly enough it's getting more and more dangerous. I have much more footage of the explore... but it would take a long movie :) Currently there is still hope to save her... though I highly doubt it that someone will come and have enough money to fix her. Estimated renovation costs runs over 35 mill euros... I think 40 would be more likely... But if I could, I definitly would!

Lostworld EXP 1P I never visited it. but I had a dream that from my ancestors land was a cry for help. it had the name Miranda in my dreams. it had a smell of burnt Wood. and old woods. I was fixing it in my dreams and a big group came to help clean up. so I woke up and typed in my search bar. Miranda and then put France. and there it was But I did not get why Miranda as I had all Noise in my searches. then I took a stop and read on Noise. only to find out it was really Miranda. shocked me. see I am a Contractor. and I got guys that would fallow me to help build it. as they all was in my dream. I had not ever hear of this place until late I saw it in my dreams. really odd. but I can fix that place.
Wow, I sure hope someone steps up to save this beautiful old place. So sad to see all the floors and rails stripped from Chateau. Is the acreage still in tact? I see it was 190 acres. Would of loved to have seen interior of the horse barns.

It went so fast because some kids made a fire in the attic. Burned a hole in the roof. After rain started poorring in it got downhill very quick. Many windows broken by vandals too...Anways... they got what they wanted , she's gone now :(

For now she is still there. About the security guard... can't tell you if he will be there or not. Just a mather of luck I gues. I've visited the castle multiple times. And I never met him, while others went two times and met him twice. The dog is quite gentle , if you get caught, just don't run ( dogs can freak out ) and be nice. He will just ask for your identity and tell you to leave.

For now it's still possible, they were about to demolish it this week, but they stopped it again. Somebody filed demolishing permit as illegal ! So they cannot proceed for now.... It's not too late ! She isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The demolition has been stopped by a group of people who want to save it.The question is how long they will be able to postpone the demolition. Glad I could show you a glimpse of her. The Château is huge, extremely beautifull but also in very bad condition on the inside... so beware if you ever get there! Going inside is not the smartest thing to do...Yet her beauty pulls me back time and time again, so if you ask me if it's worth the risk... f*ck yeah it is ! Hope you get there lad...watch your steps!

They started demoliton in Octobre, but has been stopped, no one knows for how long :(.
We have been able to take a memory of the castle, a baby cat that was abandoned by his mother... He was about 10 days old! We named him Noisy! We saved him from the left tower at the entrance. Now he is 3,5 years old and very happy!!

Het zaakje stinkt enorm. Vlak na het van de lijst werd gehaald werd aanvraag tot sloop ingediend. Het is aangevochten geweest door de associatie die in mijn filmpje beschreven wordt. Ook uitstel kunnen bekomen. De sloop is eigenlijk ook zo goed als illegaal verlopen. Bij werken is er ook " toevallig " brand uitgebroken. Niet veel later lag het helemaal plat :( . Enkel de bijgebouwen staan er nog, naar verluid zou de smeerlap ze helemaal renoveren om zijn dochter in te laten wonen.

The owner said it would be too expensive and he does not want someone to get hurt bc so many people went inside... Some people attacked his employee.. Maybe there is something more behind this story... Nevertheless I always feel bad when I see something like this vanish. But it was built long ago. I'm sury many people had to pay a high price to get the money for the Building and they wouldn't be that lucky just because od it's beauty...
Trust me on this one, the owner is nowhere to be trusted. And his employee attacked? Trust me I've met him and he is an insane crazy fuck. The way he was coming at me whenI was nog even on castle grounds are enough to get him suckerpunched. He was lucky to have two more guys with him and I was alone. Don't believe all the cry baby stories of the count and his dog. The count has no respect... nore for history, nore for his family legacy... Not for the architectural value of this place. And he sure has the moeny ;) . He lives in Lausanne in Switserland.... The place to be for tax evading rich fuck .
