- Time to turn Brutus into a proper adventure bike ready for the rough road. Bought of HEED Crash Bars from Poland and transmission reinforcement for my BMW R1100GS. They were not the easiest to fit had to get a little bit creative but it worked out in the end. They feel strong and durable and really well put together. We'll see how they last in time.

I had HEED bars on my old tiger 800. Absolute faf however they do their job well
Considering the entire kit was just 365 euro shipped to my house I can live with faf to mount, and yes they feel strong, haven't dropped it yet but they feel strong.
I've had similar experiences adding crash bars.
This was my first time fitting some on a big bike. Was expecting them to go on a lot easyer.

I wonder if you can still take on and of the valve covers without a 3 hours mechanics session? You need to have some space to make sure that the rubber donut in the spark plug hole stays in place when mounting.
Tbh i don't think I can take the valve covers off without taking the crash bars off. It'll be fun. 😂

Mine fit perfectly the first time I Installed them. After her being pushed over multiple times parked in New York City the bars are now warped & it takes hours to get them aligned when I remove them. I assume you'll have the same issue
Next time I'm taking a grinder and adjust them for good 😂
Hello Alex, just seen your video. I've just installed the Heed crashbars on mine 1100. It fits great but the rearbolts on the underside don't seem to go in anywhere. How did you do that?
A lot of pulling on them with straps, it was a huge pain :)) kind of scared to ecer take them off
@@RideWithAlex thanks for the answer. Where did you put the bolts on the rear underside of the cilinder bars I don't have any holes under the engine to put the bolts in.

I did change the bulb to LED check the next video.
@@RideWithAlex i saw it Yes. I will maybe do some lamp conversion..or maybe change the whole front ? I will pick up my 1100 this week.. I bout it for like 600-700$ I hope it is Worth it.. will you keep your bike ?
@@michaelbmw1931 curently I have no plans on selling it. Riding it every weekend.
Are there any skidplates that does fit with heed crashbars that doesn't cost almost the same as crashbars itself.
Haven't found one but the crash bars ofer under engine protection.
@@RideWithAlex Yeah I notice it too, they indeed offer some protection but I don't feel comfortable to drive in deep sand, mud or samller trails or cross big logs or anything like that without proper skidplate.

Great Video Alex, Are you going to rebuild the engine? Or fit a secondhand one with low km. I've seen online with only 30,000km for around 500 Euro.
The engine is running fine, not going to touch it if it still runs. :)))

How are the crash bars holding up?
Holding up allright, dumped it twice now on dirt and they are fine.

I think so, I do plan on going on some pretty long tripa this year so they should come in handy
