This was super helpful! I've been searching everywhere for how loud/quiet these actually are, and comparing the volume with and without headphone. Thanks!!!
Most likely yes (though I don't have an electric violin). The resin makes the bow "stick" to the string and creates the friction that makes the string vibrate and create a sound so it would make sense.
Super helpful! Could I ask what type of amplification and such you use? Or is there an amp directly in the violin so you can have direct output cus that would be great! Thank you and merry Christmas!
The Gewa Novita electric violins (the one in this video) are powered. You can connect it to any amp. In this video, the violin is connected to Focusrite 2i2, which is connected to a Macbook via USB. The sound you hear in the video is original sound of the violin (no additional amps / software effects).

Great detail in explanation! I'm glad I went for the electric violin for my practice at my apartment
Thanks for sharing this! I'm considering an electric violin to practice on my apartment.
Go for it! 😊
Oh nice 👍 now I now what violin I am looking for
do you need to put rosin on the bow when playing a silent electric violin?
Most likely yes (though I don't have an electric violin). The resin makes the bow "stick" to the string and creates the friction that makes the string vibrate and create a sound so it would make sense.
Correct! You do need rosin on the bow. Regular violin strings are used for electric violins as well.
