A lovely compilation. His control really was masterful. Genuinely two-footed, he could spray accurate passes with either and scored some cracking long-range goals with both left and right foot [not much in the heading department though :-) ]. Even pele rated him as being a world-class player.
Definitely, I always wonder if Ireland had a united Ireland squad back then could we of challenged for silverware, not to mention names but think about it in his era on both sides of the border, full of talent
Always wonder what would have been if Leeds had followed Don Revie's advice on his departure ,to give the managers job to Johnny Giles. As it was, they gave it to Brian Clough
THE Leeds United great. In the 1960s and early 1970s Giles was the best midfielder in England right up there will Alan Ball and among the three of four finest players in Europe. Modern comparisons would be Pirlo, Xavi, Scholes.....that good and better. he had it all.
@@tigerarmyrule Pirlo is the closest, I think. He stroked it around and controlled a game in a similar way. I was lucky to see him play many times. He was great at making space for himself - always had time. The sign of a great player.
Had the pleasure of meeting this man an absolute gentleman.

JG could have played for any side in the world at his prime .

One of Matt Busby's biggest errors was letting Giles go Leeds.
The greatest Irish player.
By a country mile.
Yes Liam Whelan also.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I especially enjoyed the glimpse of the '63 Cup Final. Thank you

3,53 Good old David Coleman and his One Nil!
great,well done
4.47 Gee wiz that's a good midfield trio
One of the greats but how come he only played 59 times for the National side!
Is there not any montage anywhere of just his passing skills?
I supported Leeds as a boy , mind you I would have got beaten up if I hadn't ...luckily I could play a bit too.
If ur going to tribute to him show goals
Hard as nails too
Dub done good he hated manutd but what a player
He left in 74?75 after the European cup
A Real Football Hardman he would of eaten up the likes of Joey Farton or Royseten Keane
Bayern Munich beat Leeds 2-0 in the 1975 european cup final, not 1-0.
Bayern bought the European cup final in 1975, they didn’t win anything
