Great advice, Eileen! I was so struck when you said, "I don't splurge on my fantasy self anymore." I replayed that and gave it thought, because I do that. With retirement coming next year, my life is changing and I will no longer need the types of clothing I now wear. It doesn't mean I'll get rid of everything and buy new; instead, I'll take your advice and look for ways to incorporate these items into my new lifestyle.
I think we often buy things thinking we will wear them. The fact is you don't know how well something will work until you have it in your wardrobe. Also, I've often bought something that I didn't really wear, and sometimes a year or two later I buy a matching item and it becomes one of my favourite things
Hi Eileen! It was so long ago that I don’t know where to start on my wardrobe but when I watched this video I said,”This is what I need!”Problem solved!!! A big thanks!!! 😍😍😍
Hi EileenI am 76 and really "into" the 80/20 rule. Thank you for the video Eileen it really enforces my regular practise I am calmer when dressing and always enjoy my outfit and my day. The fear of not looking good enough has gone A relief !
You made really good points Eileen❤My 20% in my closet are also Burberry trench, puffer coat, Aritzia olive long coat, cashmere jumpers, trousers, Tshirts, Hermes belt, white sneakers and joggers! I will definitely look at my 80% to declutter what I dont wear/like😂Thank you 🇨🇦from Canada
Hi Eileen, great sharing. The 80/20 rules make perfect sense in our modern society, same applies at workplace to prioritize area to focus. ❤ from Malaysia 😊
I used to work selling cars, one day a partner told me, there has been a year and I've never saw you with the same outfit, the main thing is to know how to combine and use accessories, yes I had a lot of clothes but used them all :) I am retired moved to Florida but still can't get ride of suits that I used to work with or coats, they have been in my closet and haven't ware them, I don't know when I will give them away. I followed you and love your videos
Thank you so much, Eileen, for another inspiring video! I was wondering if you could make a video (or series) about smart investing, budgeting, saving money for retirement and how to calculate the pension gap. I would love to hear your thoughts about that :)
Selling luxury, even at a loss, is not a loss if you are not wearing them. Every dollar you make is a dollar won compared to have the bag sitting in your home. I'm sure you bought those things to wear and not as an investment
I agree to a certain extent! Years ago I sold a lot of my pieces at a loss but I never regret it because with what money I got from the sales, I put it all into investment. It’s better than having those pieces collecting dust xx
I’ve moved from a three bedroom house into a motor home, but saying that I decluttered to fit everything I wanted or needed was hard. I weighed my motor home and found I’m 300 kgs over weight. Decluttered a lot lost 100 kgs, no water another 110kg down, I’m researching into upgrading my suspension. Changed mattress another 20kgs down.
Hi Eileen, a great video! I’m planning to massively declutter my handbag collection. Which channels would you recommend selling on based on your experience?
No matter if it's the *amzrepe* or any other, my steadfast belief stands that only practitioners can perceive dissimilarities in the sack looks or the metal constituents
Yaasssssssss love my comfy skinny jeans I don’t give a flip if they are sooooooo outdated and not trendy I will wear them I do me I do not follow trends😘
I wear my stuff. I wear something different everyday. I rarely repeat the same exact look. Now, a piece might only get worn once a year, but I wear it. 😂😂😂😂😂
Personally, I always wear something new but I rent it from byrotation or Hurr and it’s such a great idea. You spend much less than brand new and it looks really good.
I own a couple of dresses that are multipurpose that I can change the accessories, purses, and my hair/makeup to change it up. I actually get more compliments doing this 😅
I do repeat my dresses for dressy occasions😊 to be honest, no one actually mentions anything but if they do, I’d take it as a compliment! It’s not my wedding after all so it’s not my time to be the shining main character, but I’ll make sure to dress for the occasion xx

I’m excited to hear about your retirement life xx
Or - you could just become your fantasy self.

Don't give up. It took me almost 5 years to get rid of all my corporate wear after I retired. Now I don't miss them at all.
Donate them to people who are unemployed and attending interviews.
A few people I know have moved to Florida, I’m so interested to know about the life there xx

I just make an mindful effort to wear all my clothes. ❤
Love that!xx
My 20% are slim fit basic longsleeve shirts in olive, black and grey. This is basically all I wear on top..
Nice tips
Glad you liked it xx
@ColourfulNoir thanks 😊
I opted for update my wardrobe with pieces in cashmere and got rid of the ones I don’t wear
You won’t regret it xx

You can push a bracelet up your arm and still type. Don't sell the love bracelet
Will you wear the same dress to all the weddings? Your friends and relatives are likely to remember.
Personally, I always wear something new but I rent it from byrotation or Hurr and it’s such a great idea. You spend much less than brand new and it looks really good.
Even if they do what is the problem with that? Shouldn't we have better things to do in our lives than to worry about such things?

This point about not being the main character is so good - I love your channel!
