I love this concept; upgrading yourself in all aspects of your life, including fashion, to align with your life, professionally and personally, or the one you are working towards is a smart way. In recent years, I stopped overconsuming, thought about being a producer of knowledge, and thought through what I buy and the harm it might cause humanity and our environment. I spent my money on experiences: Travelling for work and pleasure, meditation, and developing new passions such as ceremonial swordplay, fencing, etc., which can be expensive, but the skills I gained and friendships I made are invaluable.
I work in the luxury industry and we have a client who had a *jklux* come in. She said she spent $2200 to order from a factory that makes these. I thought that was crazy but like she said even though the price was $2200 she saved $20,000 and she had the money to buy Auth and in fact she owns several. She told us she will never buy Authentic again because the Authentic ones made by this factory are exactly like og. Her product is so good our 2 appraisers could not find any difference. Yes even the smell is very accurate.
I love this! I'm doing a no buy year this year to challenge myself to appreciate the pieces I already have and not constantly look out for the next best thing and follow trends. A huge part of this is to learn to be grateful for the things I already have in my life. Plus I get to save the money to spend it on more meaningful things like travel or even invest for my future. Its a win win.
Eileen, you are a young woman with infinite wisdom. I for one love the direction your channel has taken and the personal growth. At 66 I am still struggling with impulsive shopping and the downs that come with it. Listening to you is so incredibly comforting, inspiring and uplifting. Thank you. I wish you a new year of good health, prosperity and joy and look forward to more content.
I can relate to you when it comes to impulsive shopping. I turn 68 in 17 days and I still struggle with impulsive shopping. It all happened when I retired two and a half years ago. Let's go for a low to no buy year!
Love this! Instead of mindless scrolling and buying excess luxury bags and clothes, for me luxury now is spending on making my home more beautiful and enjoying the new pieces of furniture we have been wanting to replace, learning to grow my own veggies, traveling, and having more money to donate to charitable causes like animal shelters and rescues. To me, that is being intentional and upleveling myself.
Your words of wisdom are so inspiring. As an almost 68 year old, I focus. on my health. I started walking at least 5 days per week and am loving it. I am up to 3 miles. I used to go to the gym when I had a full time job. I find myself smiling as I walk through my neighborhood, so I know this is so beneficial for me. This video came at a good time because as an impulsive shopper, I am ready to retire from that. I am looking forward to this challenge in 2025. I just reorganized my daughter's closet yesterday and noticed several books that I forgot I had, so my intention is to start reading again. Thanks Eileen. Happy New Year to you and your family.
I’ve noticed a negative change in the quality of fabrics used even in luxury clothes. Many are using polyester. Read your labels while shopping. I used to sew clothes for myself and decided this year to start again. It allows me to be in control of the quality of the fabrics and style. Sewing is a fun hobby I can recommend. Happy New Year❤
Yesss! I love this! For me personally, This year, I’m going to pay more attention to my art (multi media (paint, fabric, sketching) fashion figure art), playing tennis (on sunny days), yoga/meditation and little luxurious holidays
Happy New Year Eileen‼️ Your advice is on point as usual. I am glad you chose not to dwell on the negativity that is more and more visible in the comments sections of the TH-camrs I follow. You are one of the best out there. Even your posts with sponsored content showcase well curated pieces and thoughtful commentary. Your advice is simple, easy to follow and so RIGHT. Happy New Year. The best to you and your family!
I can relate to your whole thought process. I am hoping to concentrate more on my hobbies than shopping in 2025. I did a "lower" buy year in 2024, I'm shooting for low to no buy months in 2025. I realize I need to enjoy the things I have instead of adding to what I already have.
This is an encouraging start to the new year, Eileen! While I enjoyed living vicariously through all your videos featuring high-end bags, I appreciate your shift to living a meaningful life, as I connect to that on a purposeful level. It seems like this work has more value, both for you as a creator and for us as your community.
I Love the direction your channel is taking...I too am trying to be more intentional with my purchases and the way I live my life having recently retired before turning 60. I am currently in Paris for my 60th birthday and see the long lines at the 'trendy' stores and have no desire to join them :) I would love to hear more about your illustrations...they are lovely. I wish you a year filled with joy, happiness, health and time with your family. What brings me joy, time with my family, hiking, time with my dogs, traveling, live music and art. Pretty simple really :)
I took a sashimi mending and an embroidery class a couple of years ago. I’ve used this to mend my favorite worn out clothes and gives them new life. I highly recommend, its fun to do and the outcome is one of a kind for each piece
Wishing you a happy and healthy new year, Eileen! Thank you for being a voice of reason - I appreciate your helpful sharing and revisit your videos often when I need a sense check! ❤
I love your content and wish you could release a new video everyday😊 So appreciate your common sense and positive vibe! Will be focusing on removing negative thoughts and inputs from my life this year.
Wonderful video! Thank you for this very informative, helpful and inspiring advice. Your channel is a refreshing alternative to the numerous overconsumption influencers on social media.
To be honest, I can't afford a thousand dollar bag no matter how beautiful it is. I can say with certainty that every kislux bag I've owned has been solid. Beautiful leather, top-notch hardware, amazing craftsmanship, and a clean silhouette and size that I love. I've been well worth every dollar I've spent, and they've held up perfectly for years.
I am at this point in my life at 35, that despite having 10 y.o laptop, 5 y.o iPad, 17 y.o car, not necessarily nice clothes, all I want to upgrade is my health and my job.
Unfortunately for many of us life just sucks and all we know is how to numb ourselves…we need to be awaken from this self destructive zombie way of life.

The best investment you can in yourself is in a compounding interest retirement retirement account.
