  • Try and visualise your life around one work, one dream, one thought. Difficult, is it? Well, not for Manohar Lalji; the man who learnt thathera craft from his father, continued it throughout life & carried it forward through his children. This is life around craft; life around worship & life around honesty. It is rare to see this kind if devotion to work. "ठठेरे की आदत है, कभी खाली बैठना नहीं ...."; the continuous hammer on vessels is the epitome of love for craft & respect for work. In its true sense, this is 'Karigar ki Viraasat'!
P-TAL aims at reviving the dying craft form of the indigenous Thatheras community of Jandiala Guru, Amritsar. The Thatheras of Jandiala Guru are a community of skilled craftsmen who specialize in the traditional technique of making hand crafted brass, copper and bell metal utensils by hammering metal sheets. This unique craft of the Thatheras of Jandiala Guru in Amritsar is the first craft of India to be inscribed in the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2014.
