My wife’s Jeep had the check engine light on, I replaced fuel cap per some videos worn a part from Napa guaranteed to fit, check engine light went away but not the fuel cap light is on.. thinking I’ll check the purge valve next under the hood for any cracks, if not that then do this EISM replacement, it’s less than 30$ just have to drive 35 mins away… thank you again for all the knowledge… liked the video and new subscriber here!

    hi so where did you hook up the smoke machine to determine that you have a leak in the eism??

    • @713jtmechanic8
      @713jtmechanic8  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Excellent question! No, I did not hook up smoke machine. If I did it would not leaked out. The common problem is the sensor fault, not a leak issue.

    I have a 2016 jeep cherokee north that this just happened too after a tire swap and oil change. Could that have caused this?
    I have yet to take it to a mechanic but I will soon to the same ones that did the oil change and tires.
    I changed my gas cap and it's still there. So, I'm guessing it's a deeper problem. But I'm broke, so how bad is this problem and can I let it slide for a bit?

      Good video. I checked the purge solenoid under the hood and it held vacuum so I replaced the ESIM. I have a borrowed OBDII scan tool, erased the P0646 code but I get a message about it saving the dtc permanently.
      I unhooked battery, still have the Permanent dtc. CEL is out, drove car twice and light has not come back.
      Is there a way to clear the permanent DTC?
