The story is about this Cheeroke grandfather, having this conversation with his grandson.
They are discussing life and he's teaching him some lessons of life, and one of these lessons is about "Two wolves within".
We all have these two wolves inside of us, And there's a battle going on. These two wolves are fighting each other, One of these wolves is evil, He's anger, sorrow, greed, arrogant, self pity, And The other wolf is good, love, joy, hope, serenity, generosity, empathy and compassion, and these two wolves are battling with each other. And the grandson is curious, he says: Who of these wolves is winning? and the old wise Cherokee says, *simply the one you feed the most* .
PS: Amazing, It has a little bit of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice vibes to itself.
Only hellblade has animation level several tiers higher than this video. It is as if Epica had an extremely tight deadline for animators, so they wanted to do their best, but had to sacrifice too much of the quality for the sake of deadline.
Such an incredible concept imagination and lyrical genius.

@@jacketcheese Ninja Theory is a team and this music video has been made by one person. Thus it's obvious that hellblade has better animations and technical graphics but you can't deny that this video has fantastic art-style and atmosphere to itself.
I directly thought about "White Mountain" from Genesis when i saw the video first, and then i even found this nice compilation somebody did with the Genesis song and an anime film that maybe also fits to this story :

It's very rare and almost unheard of that a band constantly gets better with every new album. Usually bands get comfortable and regress. I love this band.
Holographic Principle was quite the stepdown from the awesomness of Quantum mate.
@@necroplastful For me Quantum was a step down from Requiem until I realized they were two completely different styles. That said the production on Quantum is possibly the best they will ever have.

@Burak Batu Tuncel what you talking about? It's on point. She's on beat. They are in 4/4. Just go do a 4/4 count with your hands and the chorus matches perfectly. They are not in any other count so no weird 2/3 prog stuff where the chorus may sound off.
To me both singles sound boring and uninspired. Looking forward to Kingdom of Heaven at least 1 song should be good.

I just want to say that this past night I dreamed with a wolf that was my friend but also wanted to bite me in the face (weird I know). Woke up, went to work, return and found this masterpiece titled "The Wolves Within"of one of my fav bands ever! Nice and scary coincidence... Love Epica!!
One of the reasons I loved Epica from the very beginning is not just their amazing composition and instrumentation, but their lyrics. They have actual substance, they go far far beyond the trivial and superficial lyrics you find in mainstream music, making that stuff look like nursery rhymes for the intellectual capability of toddlers. In their albums they explored philosophical themes like religious ferver, epistemology, quantum mechanics and they seem uncompromisingly liberal (sorry Americans, not in your sense of "liberal"). This very piece is a prime example of latter. I like every single aspect of them, please never stop.

Really interesting. Kind of a mix of old school Epica combined with Requiem, plus modern Epica production. A win in my book. Simone's vocals are just gorgeous here. Not an instant banger like Abyss of Time but definitely going to be in my playlist. And the animation is gorgeous.

I think it’s a grower. One of those songs you have to listen multiple times to fully appreciate. Not as “immediate” as “Abyss of time”

Gosh those drums, the choir, SImone's voice, Mark's growls AND THOSE DELICIOUS RIFFS. Do not be so shy... implement more riffs and drum solo's in your music.

I think that's just an Epica thing, for me it was the same for Abyss of Time as well as Epica in general.
It took some time for me to really enjoy the music, part of that might be that I wasn't in need for new music at that time.
@@gregorstone6630 That, but I also feel their music is so layered and so stuffed... it just needs time to really get into it and understand it. There is just so much in every single song.

Although Epica isn't traditionally "prog", their sound is very much influenced by it, as much as it's influenced by the roots of European symphonic metal. Their music is just as complex as some prog bands, but it is definitely less technical.

El mejor video
What i noticed in epica is,over the years their sound evolving from symphonic metal to progressive metal. The intensity of this song is the proof.
I honestly think the symphonic elements have gotten stronger too. It's kind of ironic because Isaac (at least I think it was him) said that they're focusing more on being a metal band with symphonic flourishes rather than a symphonic band with metal tendencies.
imho it was more like they started being more proggy on Holographic principle and solace system and this is like back to the roots simplier sympphonic sound
@@szymonkosowski1154 listen to the phantom agony. You can clearly tell that the symohonic elements are stronger. There is a whole classical orchestra behind the album. Epica was a pure symphonic metal band. The phantom agony is the definition of symhonic metal. Even the vocal techniques simone used to do. They were proggy back then as well. But their symphonic elements started to get weaker. Which is good at some point but bad at another one. Epica is still my favorite symphonic metal band though.(if we are gonna count symphony x as a prog band) They are still making great music. But for my personal taste their first 3 albums are the best ones.
If I remember on phantom agony there was only something like single string quartet, opposed to whole orchestra on HP, even though HP is much more prog than PA. But let's just enjoy music
And that's a great direction for their future albums!
