      OMINOUS RED my pleasure!! They still have a lot of work to do on the app and firmware but it has potential!

    Thanks for the good info! I'd like to see this model with the conventional receiver to enable transmitter control... That will surely add weight, but the added range will be a greater benefit than the weight is a detriment. I have never been real keen on wifi as a flight control method. Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to your next post!

      +R L yeah increased range would be nice but this isn't a high performance drone like the Mavic, for long distance flight, it's just a lightweight selfie drone. Realistically you wouldn't want to be flying this too far away, bit of a breeze and you wouldn't be able to fly it back :)

    Good, unbiased review, thanks. I think that (off the top of my head) the manual specifies a max height of 20m and a max overall range of 100m so a bit surprised to see it limited to 10m (although I did notice that at one point in your video it went up to 13m).
    I'm sure that the app will improve with time (after all, even the sainted DJI has to release updates ;) ) and I know that, as a Dobby fan, I'm probably biased but, for me, the light weight and form factor of the Dobby still win out over other drones. I was walking the dog through a park this afternoon and came across an impromptu band concert being watched by about 50-60 people. Sadly, I didn't have my Dobby with me (and, anyway, the dog objects vociferously to it!) but I would have felt comfortable flying that up to about 15m or so and grabbing a few photos. I'm not so sure that I would be comfortable doing the same with the Simtoo, both because of its bigger size and also its heavier weight (although I do accept that, enclose as it is, it would probably be viewed as a better protected drone).

    Just got mine, it did the same thing fly high and away, had to run after it Controls work sometimes. The follow me feature does not work at all. very disappointing. Tried to contact on FB, website etc. NO response. Is there any sign of updates?how do you install them? The company needs to realize that in the US there are laws that protect consumers against False product claims.

    I just received my MOMENT AIRSELFIE DRONE and cannot find the new APP to fly it. Mine was one of the newest release and seems great. I cannot fly it without the Flight control APP. Can some one assist me.

      Hello, have you APP to fly found?

    Do I always need to recalibrate the compass before I fly?

    • @Droning-ON
      @Droning-ON  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gabriel Ng, it depends - if you're flying in the same place then there's no need but if you change location then you should recalibrate. Personally however, I calibrate at the start of each flying day anyway, it only takes a few seconds.

    does this drone auto follow? Are there any auto follow drones around 150?

      DroningON did you ever get the follow me working? It's been like 6 months since this review

    • @Droning-ON
      @Droning-ON  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chris Wrigley yes it does but not brilliantly in all honesty, very jerky. The best cheap follow-up drone that you can buy is Dobby in all honesty. Besides that you'll have to spend a lot more.

      +Eduard Dechert have you tried sitting the drone outdoors for at least 10 minutes?

    • @eduarddechert9761
      @eduarddechert9761 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I do not, will try tomorrow, I have a video on TH-cam so they may understand the problem better

      This video is of your compass calibration, during which you need to rotate the drone around until instructed to stop, then do the same vertically?

    • @eduarddechert9761
      @eduarddechert9761 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      as you have seen in the video, it has not found a satellite that is probably due to the compass calibration?

    This must be the only Simtoo Moment drone I have seen that actually works.......

    • @Droning-ON
      @Droning-ON  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have seen that a few have problems, this was one of their early first models, I wonder if the quality of manufacturing has degraded since they went mass market :(

    • @Growveguk
      @Growveguk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DroningON Thank you so much for replying. Mine is a Mass Market version. I have the updated APK for android and I have updated the firmware on the Drone as well. Its what I call the Flying Dyson as it is an uncontrollable paper shredder at best. I have calibrated it so many times. I think they have given up completely on the apps and firmware. Just wish they would. Let us have the source code as I am sure there are tons out there who could get this Drone proper finished which it currently isn't. Don't know if you could get in touch with your Contact at simtoo as I really want this to work but they never reply to the moment Drone community.... Ever. Fantastic video content by the way, love your work.

      So sorry to hear that, sadly this is common with Chinese companies, they start a project but don't finish it, look at OnagoFly, Wingsland, even ZeroTech who could have done so much with Dobby but seem to have ceased development now :(

      DroningON I would be interested in emailing you some time as you may be able to help me solve my problem... The reason I bought into the concept of the moment Drone was to use it exclusively for my little business to be able to grab it from the van, get up to an issue on for example a roof, take good images and video and be able to identify issues for customers without having to get out ladders and have someone with me to carry out each survey. Could you possibly Google handyandyruskington and drop me a mail to have a chat?

    Woah! I just got this thing on sale for a little over a hundred bucks and woah, woah, wow its not good. How does this kind of thing happen? I think if I released a product this bad I would retire.

    • @Droning-ON
      @Droning-ON  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a real shame because actually it isn't bad, the photos are good but the stability of it and lack of EIS is a problem - I was hoping that the production model would be much better, and that the firmware and app would evolve, but they don't appear to have made any enhancements at all :(

    This thing is broken garbage - and Simtoo will not respond to any emails or requests from customers: everyone got taken for by these jerks.

    • @Droning-ON
      @Droning-ON  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to agree about SimToo and their lack of responses, it's pretty poor. Their new Fairy drone is out soon and I worry that it'll be the same case, an unfinished product.

    So could you enable the follow me mode?

    • @Droning-ON

      +Fers0ver at the time it wasn't available in the Android app but I believe that it had now been enabled.
