Thorough and in-depth review, must have taken you hours! Can't wait for Episode 3 and see what an experienced drone flyer like you think of it's flight capabilities. My dobby fell 20m to the ground after updating to 2.2.1, front left engine failure - but did manage to get it working on some occasions since, so it might just be a loose connection. Still, TomTop is probably not the best place to buy your stuff, they are not responding to my emails nor do they accept customer reviews with less than 5 stars all the way. But the 2 hrs I had with it was good fun!
Thanks so much for your review. It's really good. I got a question: I'm buying a drone soon and I'm struggling to choose between the Dobby and the DJI Spark. I make 1080p videos mostly and because I need cinematic shots, I would like to have sth that is smooth and stable. I've tried the Spark before and I really like it. How much do you reckon that the DJI is better than the Dobby and is therefore worth to stretch my budget a bit more to get the Spark?
The Spark has a mechanical gimbal so it is immediately a better option, but its more expensive, so in summary get the Spark if you've got the money, if not get Dobby :)
Another great review Ash. I have been waiting for part 3 for awhile now, along with the new Stars Wars movie. But in the meantime the price for the Dobby has dropped below $200 US so I hit the buy button. So far I'm happy with it and agree with your suggestions for updates to the software. I have not been able to connect it to my computer and download the files directly from the Dobby, and I have seen in the Facebook forum's that this is a problem for both Mac and Windows users. So my update suggestion is more of a bug fix, get this feature working properly.

great review video very thorough and im even later to this party - ive been looking at choices between Wingsland s6 and dobby an even more compact portable drone companion choice to my Breeze - - dobby seems to now be retired no more app updates or support however looks like it could still be the better bet than the now lower priced Wingsland due to its camera angles and slightly better battery life - Im assuming there is no Dobby PART 3 review
Hi, just a couple of questions and I’m sorry if the second one sounds dumb. Did you ever make a part 3 to this? Plus, I make the odd documentary and I’m new to drones. Is the footage usable from the Dobby, because I bought a SG700 to give it a try and flying was ok, but the footage was really jerky because it was streamed via WiFi to my phone.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to edit it but I do have most of the footage ready! Bur rest assured it's brilliant! The footage is 1080p but it's not crisp enough for high resolution production but it's adequate considering its size and scale for social media sharing and similar. I'll try to get part 3 together soon.

If you are still UK based, are you aware of any issues regarding the app/signal etc in the UK as I read on an amazon feed back that the drone is almost useless in the UK due to syncing issues regarding an update.

I'm having trouble switching on EIS on my Dobby. Sometimes it works but most of the time I can't switch it on. Does anyone know what I need to do to solve this problem?
I could only get the Dobby to WiFi connect to my old Samsung Grand Prime phone.My Samsung tablets, J7 phone r my Nexus 7 2013 would not connect.The app opened it took off landed but I had no stick control it just hovered on my Grand Prime phone,any ideas why ?

+el_marto yes definitely, it's very easy to fly, fairly safe and the photos are brilliant, the S6 is also a good choice for photos but not for video. Be sure to buy via the links in the video description to help support the channel!

Thanks for the comment! I've had this a few times, steps to take firstly is to restart your smart phone, then turn off Dobby completely and back on. Try again and see if it works. If not then uninstall the Dobby app, then reinstall and see if it works then.
I love my DOBBY drone, it has it's limits...I wish Dobby could stay powered on when switching batteries it would save Time I modified some 2.5 x 2 props to fit on Dobby it flies much better all around, drawback you cannot fully close arms still fits in my pocket...
I thought the same actually just a few days ago, changing batteries and wishing that it was a 'hotswap' but in reality, no drones currently have this other than multi-battery-pack drones (such as the Inspire) which can have redundant power supplies. On the other hand, Dobby boots up and reacquires GPS very quickly, within a minute. Thanks for the comments and be sure to subscribe!
I bought a Dobby two days ago but I can't make it work. According to this video you need to press the blue button in the middle, and then press START to enter the Dobby controlling interface. I do press the blue button in the middle but the START button doesn't appear, and my tablet won't enter the Dobby controlling interface. Can someone please tell me what's going on and how to solve this problem?
@@Droning-ON, thanks for your answer. Yes, I did register with the app, and an activation code was sent to me by e-mail. I used that code and activated my Zerotech account. But it still doesn't work. Actually, I did all of this a few days before I even bought my Dobby drone.

+rocktijn70 - with firmware update issues, reboot your phone and turn Dobby off and back on, then try again - that solved issues that we have had with firmware updates in the past.
I think you failed to mention some of the other issues with the Dobby or possibly is mine faulty?1. Every time I want to use it it forces another compass calibration..even if I am at the same locatation and even if I am still using the same battery. This is not only time consuming but annoying especially when you want to just get a quick video or shot. 2. My compass on several occasions losses it’s calibration even as I am flying. I have received “abnormal compass” errors with instructions to land immediately. 3. Whenever I turn on EIS , the video becomes tilted.; even if I am flying in windless conditions. Turn off EIS and the video is no longer titled.
Mark Constantino thanks for your comment. These issues are definitely unique to your Dobby and are not common - have you tried updating the firmware to the latest, also have you contacted ZeroTech or the retailer from whom you bought it!

No such issues at all and location shouldn't make any difference on this, I suspect it's just user error.
So far so good - very detailed and methodical. I would love to see Part 3 but can't find it?

The app still works for us but you need to be registered with the app first. Have you completed that?

Are you sure that the app had gone? It's still available and is called 'DoFun'
