    Chache battery is used for unexpected shut down failures and it means Which only affects the write back cache in the event of a full power outage, my main question is this does RIAD configuration or data will lost if we replace the Chache battery or Chache Module the slot connected to the Raid controllers cache mem battery

    On the DL380p Gen8 I attempted this on, there was a caddy for the battery on the front right of the case from the starting perspective of this video. We had to remove the SCSI cables and two cables connected to the motherboard to safely remove the caddy that was secured with a plastic squeezable tab.

    Thanks for this, ordering a battery to replace a mis-performing server!

    Should the server be plugged in (but powered down) when doing this? Or should it be unplugged?

    how much does it cost to operated this server? I'm planning to buy this for home data storage instead of NAS on amazon which can cost $400 for 4+ bay systems. Is it a good idea?

    We have just had this message on our DL380 this morning.., and the timing could not be worse as we are doing a massive rollout of a new system for the customer over the next 3 days... Is this a critical problem or could I replace it in a few days when the pressure off..?

    • @eclypse3d
      @eclypse3d  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No its not a critical issue unless your environment is prone to loss of power to the server.

      @@eclypse3d Thanks your vid was a big help... The only thing we did notice was that the I/O on the server increased while the battery was failed.. Took 10 mins to swap with a new one.. :-)

    Will this remove the BIOS / Admin passwords?

    • @eclypse3d
      @eclypse3d  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      CMDR PillBox no this is the raid controllers cache mem battery which is for unexpected shut down failures. The bios or cmos battery is probably what you are thinking of.

    • @eclypse3d
      @eclypse3d  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No this only affects the write back cache in the event of a full power outage.

      eclypse3d no worries. I have a server that the battery has failed in. Looks straight forward to swap

    must I replace the cable?

    • @eclypse3d
      @eclypse3d  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which cable? The one for the battery? The capacitor comes with the proper length one attached. Unlike the Dells where the cable is static and you plug it into the battery, the HPs are connected to it.
