- This is just a random video I made about a bike I imported from the USA, I think in 2011, that you probably have never heard of! I think this was the very first one ever to be imported to the UK (According to Honda UK.) There are however, a few more over here now. This just documents a bike I have put away for the past 3 years...After covering 108,200 odd miles .What for?, Is anybody's guess!....A bit of a "Cat amongst the Pigeons" in a way!
FEAR NOT! PROPER CONTENT WILL RESUME AS NORMAL ON THE NEXT VIDEO!
(I can hear the chants from here, "Bring back Royal Enfield"!)
I had absolutely no doubt that was going to fire up straight away.
It's a Honda.
Bonnie looking bike.
@k1ckyscotland988 Honda know a thing or two!
I've got the VTX1800c. My brother has the VTX1300c, they are great bikes. The C models have less rake, and a little more nimble. I have had a VTX 1800 since 2002, they are torque monsters and great cruisers. I have made several 790+ mile riding days on it. Highway speeds are effortless. It goes well with my Classic 350. Gives a good riding variety. Nice mix of bikes in your garage. Stay safe!
Impressive starting up first go after three years!, even more impressive doing a 1000 miles in 16 hours!!
That brings me back memories to the first model.. 83' VT500.. My first boss had one of those and I did more distance on that bike then he did 😁 .. He still has it and it's rotting away, but don't want to sell it to me.
To tell you something interesting if you don't know. That layout of engine is on multiple bikes from 400cc to 1800cc variants. The old Transalp and Africa twin where with that engine too.. Few tourers. I had 3 Transalps but the Africa was my dream bike at that time /yearly 2000's/ but poor young me never manage to get one.
The other interesting thing was that they had 2 completely separate hall sensors with two separate CDI modules for each cylinder and with double coils for the twin spark. I had one fail and was limping home on one cylinder for about 150km. This was early in my engineering career but manage to build new one, just using the delay-timing chip from the damaged one.. As far as I know, that bike is still with that home made CDI.
The idea of that setup was for reserves in case of a breakdown.. The bike was build to win the Dakar race and it did.. 2 or 3 years in a roll.
@Stefan_trekkie As you say, there was a whole raft of variations on that layout even down to the little VT125 Shadow and Varadero!
Classy looking bike and what an engine, starting up like that. If you have the room for a good bike collection then its Certainly different. Why not have one !
Your Enfield content is what I really like, however this was excellent, thanks 😃 very interesting!
Interesting vlog
I had a VTX 1800 Retro here in Florida quite some time ago used it for a couple of years and enjoyed it - then moved on to other bikes along the way - now at 75 years of age just bought a lightly used 2022 Royal Enfield interceptor loaded with extras for the princely sum of $4000 US And hopefully will put a few miles on it
Bought it for an easy ride
Regards from Florida
@johnfountain8588 Mine is Not really suitable for the UK, with that rake!😁
Sunny day and all will be good, like it.
Fascinating stuff VB. Really enjoyed that one.
Great video of a bike I’d not heard of.
You got me laughing so much at 11 mins in “Anyone can ride this - as long as you’ve got legs!”
@mickcresswell1031 My warped sense of humor! If you can reach the footboards, you can easily reach the ground!
I have the VTX 1300. Less rake - same basic motor. I have over 100,000 miles on mine. I love the bike but now that I am turning 66 years old I am thinking of trading it in for something a bit lighter. Once you get it going down the road, it really doesn't feel very heavy but moving it around in the yard or the shed is hard. With the more standard rake, mine seems to go around corners fairly well. But then again, it's not a sport bike. Have a great day.
@jlrutube1312 I sold my VTX 1300 to buy this one. The VTX was a far better handling bike compared to the VT versions. You are the same age as me and yes, out on the road the weight just disappears, but heaving them around by hand is pretty hard going! You too, have a great day!
It was very interesting and entertaining to se that bike and hear your story about it. The bike evidently was a bit of a styling exercise!
@GapBahnDirk The styling exercise worked because loads of them were sold in the States. It also helped that they were built in America too!
what a peach, gorgeous style.
@robbie2awesome They do look the part, but make little sense over here on our roads!
i thought i was on the wrong channel 😅
100k milege and it runs like new on old gas, thats a goos Honda.
nice lines on that bike.
@DANTHETUBEMAN That surprised me too!
@@Volcanicbrown1878 that bike could out last us all 😁
@@DANTHETUBEMAN I do believe it could!
You ARE an iron Man.....(I only ever saw one Fury on the road....in my hometown in Essex...the rider was surprised that I knew what it was)
That is a big old bus. Looks in decent condition. Obviously the styling is subjective. To cover that mileage it’s been reliable for its owners.
@martinowl One owner!
@@Volcanicbrown1878 wow! Good going.
Legendary Honda reliability!
@TheNorfolkThunderbolt Your right Stephen! Reliability is superb.
Wow looks a great bike!
Quite a machine!
Would never have guessed that mileage, looks cleaner than my two year old Guzzi😂
@jamesbambury5031 Even with that mileage, at 6000 mile oil changes, the old oil comes out the same colour as the new oil you are putting in.... Incredible!
That's impressive! I imagine it's completely understressed despite the weight.
Your Iron But time btw!! Over 62mph average! Kudos to you sir, more like Tungsten Tush
@@jamesbambury5031 I seem to remember endless night time roadworks on the M6 with a 50mph speed limit and speed camera's everywhere. That cut my average down dramatically. But out in the clear cruised along at 90!!
Cheers for posting that after i pestered you 😊 . What a great bike , it has similar styling quirks to the rune which is my dream bike but there selling for 20 k +. Really liked it , i would definitely have one , have many been imported do you no ? Or are you the only person ?
@JIMWSMITH There was a UK dealer that brought about 4 of them in some time ago and had a problem finding new homes for them. My mate Shaun at SRK Cycles has had quite a few Runes. th-cam.com/video/NA6yf7tJa1g/w-d-xo.html
@Volcanicbrown1878 wow you know shaun at srk , I follow his channel, such a great guy , loves the rune and his old harleys.
@@JIMWSMITH Shaun is a real nice genuine, honest guy. I don't say that about many people!
I owned the VTX 1300 C and R versions. Decent bikes but not as comfortable and don’t look as good as a nice Harley bagger. I’m not a fan of the plasti-chrome and pleather and they need a 6th gear. Still for the price you can’t go wrong.
Love your videos what is the approximate value of the big honda? Alan Northern Ireland 👍
@alanwilkinson5152
Good question! I payed $10500 for it + shipping and import duty. I guess It is still worth £3k I have full service history for it too!
lovely looking bike , i had a 2004 Kawasaki VN2000 which is very similar , is K20TWN still out there ,,i had it when i lived in Lowestoft and sold it as to big really for the local roads , ypuve certainly done the miles on the Honda ,are you going to put it back on the road
@jobucklandbuckland8031 I am tempted to! Don't know why but I just stopped riding it. I spose. like you, It was too much of a handful on the backroads. But great if you needed to be somewhere fast on the major roads! (Or doing an Iron butt challenge!)
@jobucklandbuckland8031 Hi Jo, I just checked on your VN2000/ It's just passed it's mot and has just been taxed for the year At mot, it had 37904 miles on the clock! And it's a purple one!!
Yes that's the one , metallic purple I put the reg on and DVLA said why that when I explained Kawasaki 2.0 twin they said oh missed that one lol , glad it's still going and being used ,it was one of the first 2 sold in UK,thank you for looking it up
@jobucklandbuckland8031 Your more than welcome!
Honda reliability ! A local guy has a couple of the VTX models . He rides them when his Harleys let him down . So the Hondas get used quite a lot. I tried one , but couldn't get along with the feet forward riding position ( and my nuts were clanging on the tank ) . They are much better styled than a Harley and I can't understand why Honda quit making them .
@dungspreader I had read on one of the Honda forums that the VTX1800 was discontinued because it was hurting Honda's Goldwing sales. There were many on that forum who had topped 100K miles on VTX's, using them for touring. 2017 was the last of the big VT's as there were backlogs building up in the dealers.
I guessed at about 25k miles. So I was half half right!😂
@simonchilli2088 It's just so easy to let the miles just roll by on a mount like that!
@@Volcanicbrown1878 I bet it is when you are used to smaller cc REs! Both have their joys tho I bet.
@@simonchilli2088 I don't care what I ride as long as I'm riding!😁
We get that model here in NZ 🇳🇿 but we get alot of Japanese models other countries don't being part of Australiasia.People like them along with the Kawasaki Vulcan 800 cause shaft drive.
Fuel stabilizer if got heaps of fuel maybe or just ride it till it's real low the top it up with the good fuel.I see my mates shuffling around on their Harley's with forward controls while I get to town when going slow & stand up for a stretch while going slow.
@ruahinesrider I remember watching a couple of guys doing a review on all four of them, They were in your neck of the woods.
That thing is uuggglllyyyy
@deltabluesdavidraye Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say! Not everybody likes them for sure!
So sorry but that's not for me ! Give me an Enfeld any day, but hey each to there own. My best wishes to you from the Philippines ❤️👍😉😀😁🏁🏍️🛺🐑🇵🇭🏴
@gordonsuddery4635 , They are not everyone's cup of tea for sure! I own it and thought I would just make a one off video about it!
