Since they depend on mosquitoes for food, what do you think will happen to them in the future when the govt is aggressively trying to bring down mosquito numbers, even to the point of their extinction?
hmm i think right now the main action is the wolbachia project - and that targets primarily the Aedes aegypti species that spreads dengue etc! But there are a lot of other mosquito species around, so i think the dragonflies will still be coping pretty ok!! hahah
We do not. It wasn't until this video that I realized that we really haven't had a decent population in the past few to several years. Our bird and squirrel population has dropped as well over the past couple of years.
@@staceyelizabeth9112 oh man :( i'm guessing thats the result of more urbanisation? :( But what I know is, nature will always find a way to come back if we allow it to!!
@@LittleRedJungle No, not more urbanization although that's going on too but these are established suburbs that have been around for over 60 years. Our air and water pollution have changed dramatically in the past few years and we're pretty sure that's the cause.
Hi.. I'm 🔙 back.. I totally agreed with this eps. These 2species of insect should Stay in the eco system.Must not lost it!! Natural protector for our environment.🏞
Dragonflies are like the hawks of the insect family. They're quite aerobatic.

It''s amazing to me how you managed to get these close-up footage since dragonflies fly so fast haha.. great video as always!
Thankfully, some of the species less flighty! So they allowed me to go close enough!! So pretty hor!!
