What a gem of a channel mate. This should be a program on national television. Whenever I'm feeling down I watch one of your vids. It's like having a father I never had. You're an amazing guy, keep it up.

I had a large caffeine addiction a few years ago and it was helping to accelerate me toward physical and mental burnout. I was even beginning to exhibit physical symptoms as you said with digestive issues, plus shakes and pins and needles" as well as high blood pressure. I switched to decaff and after a few months these symptoms disappeared and I started to feel more energised. I have now noticed, however, I have allowed caffeine back into my life again and it has now gone from just a cup in the morning to a few cups in the morning and now I am drinking it in the afternoon again. So great timing with the video Simon as it made me take a step back and realise where I am heading once again (I was actually drinking a cup watching the video...). Time for a reset again I think.

Finally, an honest review of the detrimental effects of coffee / caffeine in general! I was sick and tired of the 'energy rollercoaster ' and quit coffee a week ago, now on day 7 I feel better but am still hurting. So I try to focus in the endresult and sitting it out. One additional note, I have found that coffee hinders my aerobic fatburning, most likely because the stress response shifts energy production from aerobic beta oxidation of fatty acids to anaerobic glycolysis, aka sugerburning. I have quit coffee before and always found thst my stemina skyrocketed. Atb, Gerlach Sven.

This is one of the best health-related videos that I have seen, and I even posted the link to my Facebook lead. One interesting fact about caffeine is that Congress, in the 1912, came close to banning caffeine along with cocaine and heroin. That did not come to pass, but the FDA did ban some high concentration powders in 2018.
I am phasing caffeine out of my life, and expect to have eliminated by the first week of April. I am now prepping for the 75 Hard, and I want to be caffeine-free on Day 1. I do enjoy tea, and am selecting herbal teas that are caffeine-free. I have friends who amp up on energy drinks that are very high in caffeine and sugar, and the result is that they have very poor focus and concentration, and are as high as a kite at time.

    • @thenaturaledge

As much as I love my „cup of stress”, I have became more aware of consuming it. Lately, I try to have one cup a day, good 2 hours after waking up (after cortisol ⬇️ ). Ideally every other day. I don’t think I will cut it out completely because I like it and it also has good properties. My personal approach is; the dose makes the poison. Everyone has to figure out what works for them or not. Good episode!

I’m a 58 year old male who is in excellent physical condition. I’m also a coffee connoisseur; fresh ground select beans for my pour-overs. My coffee consumption is around 4 cups per day. I can honestly say that I do not experience ups and downs with regard to my energy levels throughout my day. As a patrol Staff Sergeant I work an average of 13 hour shifts in a city with a violent crime rate that is 88% higher than the national average, so I know something about stress. Perhaps, as you mention in your video, I don’t know how much better I’d feel without the caffeine. You’ve got me thinking about experimenting to find out.

Coffee enabled troops to endure fighting fatigue. To combat drowsiness in the field, military cooks judiciously added coca leaves to the urns of brewed coffee. Also found caffeine + l-theanine to be beneficial at stopping some of the adverse anxiety affects. Also find raw Cacao in my morning porridge a great alternative to coffee, some caffeine and the benefits of Theobromine.

I think your over thinking the whole thing here. I agree 100% that caffeine cannot boost your performance or energy. But like all things moderation is the key. I think people are actually doing themselves more harm with the supplements and energy drinks, right to the point of addiction. I can go without coffee or tea no problem I don't even take sugar so I don't miss that either. There are guys in my gym who can't go without their baby food for one day not to mention the sports drinks.

    • @thenaturaledge
      @thenaturaledge  ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @dreamdrumsdeep

Nah I don't agree one bit. I knocked coffee on the head, I only had one a day anyhow pre gym and my performance halved when I stopped drinking it. That one cup is back and I'm back to full strength again with 3 hour sessions each day. Plus it tastes good so a win-win

I have no idea why you made this video as it so vague. I don’t know what you’re trying to gain from it.
I gave up caffeine for a year and found it to be a piece of piss to give up but have now introduced it back in. I personally Didn’t notice any change at all with regards to dips in energy throughout the day.
I think a video you should have perhaps made if that was the angle you were coming with regards to energy regulation is about the timing of carbs throughout the day as perhaps it is definitely not the caffeine that’s causing someone’s dip in energy or crash if they are having a coffee in the morning but will be however caused by the 2 sugars and milk in their coffee accompanied by a sugary bowl of cereal that will be responsible for a crash.
Insulin spikes throughout the day will be much more likely to cause an energy crash rather than a cup of coffee in the morning and there are a lot of health benefits linked to coffee so I
Would have much preferred to have seen a video on carb timing as someone’s energy who only consume protein and fats during the day (carbs at night) and drinks two cups of coffee a day (one in the morning, one at noon) is going to be alot more stable than someone who drinks no coffee and eats cereal bread and other carbs. They are far more likely to crash.
You mentioned that you’ll only be able to figure out how you truly feel if you come off caffeine which I found mental! Alot of how shit people feel is because of the foods that they are eating and can be figured out whilst still drinking coffee.
    Anyway. That’s my two scents!
