Terrific video.. Im so glad you started this style of video training please continue with the great content. The length of the videos are very good... not to short that you miss the instruction being delivered. The whole idea of flying with the same student is OK OK OK by me. Thanks to Sam for letting us live through all his ups and downs... keep up the good work Sam ...BLADE SLAP..
Love your teaching style Mischa. Very relaxed, encouraging and informative without overloading your students. Great video, thanks for producing the series and the effort you must be putting in on that. My weekly flying videos take me all week to get sorted and nowhere near as complex as yours. All the best Tim 👍 🇬🇧
This is the kind of videos i want. PERFECT! But still like to se long videos about maintenance .. like tracking of blades, engine service and more about different type of rotorheads.
Would love a video of Sam explaining how he is finding the hand, eye, foot coordination as he starts and advances in his training. You can call it the “student in the hover” segment...
Hi guys....it looks easy to make a hover and landing....but samtime is not....allways its a playing whit the cicle and colectiv...smooth..great job guys..🤗
All right I was wondering if there's any kind of a helicopter flight simulation that you can do on the computer or on your phone or anything like that that's as close to real as you can get? Also just in my opinion I like the the detailed on all of the moves to make with your landing and taking off that's awesome really enjoy your channel man love to take lessons sometime. I just don't know if I can afford them what do they cost by the way?
I don't know how hard it would be to do this... Would it be possible to see a closeup of the instrument stack and insert this in the top of the screen when you're on the 'over-the-shoulder" shot? This would help in understanding all the references you make to the gauges while instructing.
I hope you stick with this vlog series. It’s really good so far, and I haven’t seen anyone else do a really good video series from day one yet. I am getting ready to start my training with your cabri neighbor to the south.
Ag Copta No I’m good owning a PA24 Piper Comanche, I remember my first two hours in the R22 I was a.ll over the place. So now I jump from em at my home DZ. Your teaching style is very good, Also your trip around the world was awesome.
Is there a way for you to record the intercomm and radio separately so you can choose in the edit when we can hear the radio. I was very annoying in the lesson as the radio quality wasnt great.
Dude, I'm almost starting to wonder if there was something wrong with the Cabri I flew a while back: we were in a ~15kt wind with two guys (me ~160lbs and a CFI who looked to be about the same weight) with approx 1:20 worth of fuel on board and I was seeing ~90-95% power utilization to hover over concrete. This was at sea level on an average California afternoon (probably low to mid 20's C... maybe 30?). How are you guys hovering at 70-80%? The one I flew just felt like it was struggggling the whole time and wasn't happy cruising at anything over about 80kts. The CFI I flew with told me, "You have to be really careful going into confined areas with students, even down at 1-2k feet MSL, or you might not have the performance to get out." Then I see you guys landing the things at 6k MSL. What's the deal? Are you guys both really light? Or is it just really cold up there?
It could be because the Cabri you flew in doesn't have the power upgrade. The Cabri originally started out with 145 horsepower but the newer Cabri like in this video are upgraded to 160 horsepower.
Hmm, possibly. I can't remember how long ago this was... maybe a year? Is it just a software update? Fifteen horsepower should be pretty noticeable. I'd go fly another one, but the only Cabri operator near me just wrecked theirs :\
Too high or too low too fast or too slow - I think this is a good mental bridge to remember when trying to land. Why do you call it "shoot an approach." I do get a lot from this approach in teaching. Any other good phrases to remember ?
Question for Sam.....When learning to hover what is the best advice you can give when you start to lose control of the hover, to recover the aircraft, What goes through your mind when it starts to get away from you.?
When I was a young kid I worked for Lufthansa as a flight attendant. 50 years later I‘m a retired oral surgeon, still thrilled by all things airborne, especially helis. First of all your videos are absolutely fantastic! You are lucky with the mountain landscape you can enjoy with every flight. But you also have a way with your students that is fun to watch. Strict, precise but cordial. But now a question that has come up quite often lately when I watch cockpit videos on TH-cam: why is ATC-communication still as crappy as it was 50 years ago? With a 50 $ mobile phone I can speak with Ouagadugu Africa clear, without distortion or all sorts of noise. And that is for telling somebody the most unnecessary info like what cereal I just have for breakfast. So: why is ATC still on a totally unacceptable stone age radio system? You should not have to take a special course to be able to guess what a controller wants you to do next!

Fish most people start in the same place you are. If your dream and passion are big enough then begin to structure a plan of how to make it happen and work your butt off to get there. That’s how these students are doing it.
What a great Heliteacher. Mischa, you are borne for Flying and show other People how learn Heliflying.
Such a great instructor. Patient, always calm voice, explaining the "why" behind different decision being made. I've love to train with you.

Love watching the instruction style, Mischa. Cool as a cat working towards the landing.
Another great video but this one really highlighted what an excellent instructional style you have!
Loved watching this one as it shows it not easy
cant get enough pilot yellow..
Good student pilot learning from a truly GREAT instructor pilot.

Oh man the sweaty palms when he landed the first time!! Great work Sam!!
Would love a video of Sam explaining how he is finding the hand, eye, foot coordination as he starts and advances in his training. You can call it the “student in the hover” segment...
I like the longer videos - more detail, more intense! I was willing you down to the ground Sam on that one - well done :-)
Awesome! Sam's doing great! Well done Mischa on your new videos. Inspiring stuff.
Great coaching and explanations...fun to watch as a virtual ride a-long. Sweet
Really fun to see longer lessons with many of the landings included.
Great video...looks harder than i thought.. but i suppose with more practice..it gets easier.
Great detailed video, good work.
Yaz have one heck of a student there. Love the vids
Perfect instructor , I really enjoy watching your videos 👍
Absolutely lovin these vids!! Looking forward to the whole semester!:) )

I LIKED IT...I myself have a few hours in a R22, just enough time to get into the scrap metal business. Cheers
Ohhh i hope u didnt turn the 22 into scrap metal 😉🤣

awesome vid
Always interesting and informative. I just wished you could filter out the background chatter.
Very good. What helicopter is this? Thanks.
Murtaza Nazham it’s the Guimbal Cabri G2.
Sir, thank you.
Sir, thank you.
It's OK To say OK Sam...and your landings...well. ..OK for now😆😊😀😁😂
OK. 😂
We should invent a drinking game based on your videos, every time you say OK, have a sip!

@@ganthrithor I think Mischa said in a video once that it's just a software upgrade but I don't know if these guys first Cabri has the upgrade or not.

I really try to keep calm and relaxed. Then make the necessary correction but try hard to not over control the correction.
I can see how it would make you sweat, and become frantic very suddenly. Great work on gaining control. ( I start my flight training soon)
Yes I recall as well on my first flight hours ( Bell 47 ) than you " cramped " total normal on there first hours !
Your student's helmet rocks.

Bernd Heiden that’s the downside of to much regulation. ,all development happens elsewhere
How long are each of your flight sessions?
Bryant Billett around an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half.

Love the videos but could you fix the background noise with the radio please
Larry Basey ?
@@tonymerlot9305 ?
Larry Basey ☺gotta love the radio chatter☺
I do love it, it's just too loud for me I like to hear the lesson.
I would do anything for the opportunity to go to helicopter flight school. I wish I had more money :(

What do the farmers think of you landing in their fields?
Pitch the like button!
damn that radio interference makes it hard to focus on what's being said...
