Ana Luiza Brown great if not amazing album but no album tops OM...and i mean ever....OM is the best album of all time and i think the warning is slightly better than rfo its more consistent
RFO is their best to me! OM is incredible but RFO was so ahead of its time, its untouchable imo. Both RFO and OM are more relevant today than they were when released and that says something.
@@Daddy53751 I will agree "The Warning "is there best album along with RFO and OM being a close second and third! Then Empire and PL being the last 2 great albums imo.
I remember back when Tate's name was added to the short list of the most revered epic metal vocalists right alongside with Dickinson, Halford & Dio. Godlike status...
i believe Dio and Tate had the U K beat on this one , vocals of course, seen them all multiple times , from mob rules to lock up the wolves, ep tour at the country club through mindcrime , always at smaller venues LA scene, remember the roxy and killers tour with dianno, missed number of the beast , peace of mind, again the smaller venues are always more personal, priest us festival , then again turbo lover , but have to say overall! but when live, the jist of command, performance, the onstage charisma, Dio and Tate have them beat, for sure the 1,2,3,4, I can do these all fuckin over again, but Queensryche, like an all star band , have to rank them right up there with VH, and Aerosmith as few of the states best, not leaving out Tool and Metallica, Long Live Rock and Roll, wholl cry for the children, I do! sometime in the night , when your feeling the cold, take a look at the sky above you , those are faces in the night , if their story were told, theyd be calling you, calling you. we are magic, we are light, we are forever you and I, yeah were stars .sums it up...R I P
Tate has more control and agility than all of them. If queensryche was somehow more popular than Iron Maiden, then tate would be considered the best metal vocalist of all time instead of Dickinson or halford.
Geoff Tate can still sing, can still move and can still capture the imagination of his audience. He is was and always will be the consumate performer. I never get tired of watching him and Queensryche perform live.
This was the last tour Geoff had his brilliant and untouchable metal voice (81'- 86') and I'm very thankful to have seen him several times during his reign. He carried the band on his shoulders for decade's and never should of been kicked out. Geoff Tate's legendary voice, song writing, and lyrical genius is what made Queensryche a band, without him they never would of been signed.
to me, Mr. Tate's finest vocal performance on the perfect song. Thank you for this raw, classic footage (no cell phones here folks) on one of the most underrated hard rock bands on one of the most overlooked albums.
Short lived? He's been touring his ass off for years his voice remained the best. Its only been since probably about 2008 that he started having trouble with the souring high notes. I'd like to see anyone with a 4 octave vocal range, tour like Queensryche and strain their voice as much as he has and still even want to continue to tour. Geoff Tate is legend! He will always be my favorite vocalist of times past. Let's just continue to be grateful for the amazing music that we have to enjoy. I think his losing his voice has a lot to do with the Insainia wine and drinking on stage. He should get a vocal coach and stop drinking before and during shows. I wish him all the best. God bless him and his family. 💝
Let me rephrase then.. He was at his peak on this tour, then gradually after the PL tour his vocal high notes with any sustained power were long gone. No disrespect to the man he still one of my favorite all time vocalists and was the king of all from 1982-1987 no one was better imo..
@@Crackhitler68 Saw him last year 2019 doing Operation Mindcrime and his voice was great. and yes I saw him 2 year earlier when he was having problems so he did something and he's back 90%. Axl Rose went thru the same thing a while back and with vocal coaches he got his voice back too.
Short lived prime? What's your definition of short? As far as I can remember, he was the "untouchable shit" from the QR EP all the way through Mindcrime and even the Empire through Tribe releases had great vox even though he couldn't hit the highs quite like he once did. Don't know of many singers who put the kind of miles he did on his chords that could still maintain the range he had. Compared to Tate, La Torre is a virgin to that kind of vocal abuse (late to the game) and when he can scream into a mic for as many recordings and fans for as many years as Tate did, then I'll like to see what a classical untrained singer like him will sound like at the end of his road. On a side note: I like Todd La Torre, (liked Midnight more) and a lot of the replacements signers out there (Ripper Owens, Arnel Pineda) but just like all the EVH clones who can probably play Eruption better than Eddie can, did they create it and can they create anything even as close or groundbreaking, even if given a vehicle like an established, famous band to front? Doubt it and haven't seen it yet. Must be nice to step in after all the hard work has been done and try to stake a claim on the backs of others.
+melissasrage Why am i dumb fuck? Because I stated something in my opinion about GT vocals during a specific timeline lol.. I'm sorry let me rephrase then..He was at his best range wise until 1987..Then from Mindcrime down to PL he gradually he became not untouchable..Is that better for you my goodness..And lets be truly honest here..PL was QR last great album from a-z period..Again my opinion..No need for the name calling btw ;-)
K Fox You said "short lived prime," which is a ridiculous statement. How old are you? So many Gen Ys and millennials comment about things that are above their paygrade.
+melissasrage My age.. I will say this the first time i saw them live is when they opened up 4 Kiss.. I believe 1985 or late 84. They stole the show in there 40 min set ;-)
Well then you have the right to have an opinion, but I'd have to also ask, what's your idea of "short lived"? I just watched his 2005 performance of Neue Regel and he nails it pretty damned well to me.K Fox
They were great every time I saw them, but this was the best tour in my opinion. Opening with Neue Regel was effin amazing!!! One of the best concert openings ever!
I was there at the Compton show.. I was on the left side of the stage. The wind hit the backline and cabinets went down and hit Ryches keys/synth that was why we got the abbreviated set.
I love the prime years and would *always* love and respect, but the future of this band has gold as well, the Promised Land tour made you feel the fucking music. When he and the rest of the band gave their mind, body and soul to it. Look at the Screaming In Digital performance in 95 with the vampiric projection. Absolute soul with Screaming In Digital. Plus any performance of Geoff in 2005 was a force to be reckoned with
Geof Tate was at his best during this tour in which I saw them twice here in AZ! They only did a handfull of headline shows during Rage For Order and I was fortunate..The first show they opened For ACDC... here in 86..Weather problems shortened the show to like 20min! maybe 5 songs >:-} .Lucky for me they came back 3months later and headlined.Great White opened! For me that was my favorite Geoff Tate performance!
Jeff's prime was from the EP - rage for order. I love Mindcrime and Empire but slowly Geoff wasn't able to belt it out on the Mindcrime album and even less on Empire. Nontheless he's my all time favorite and his lyrics are second to none. They have intelligence and depth. I still see him every time he's back in town and never been disappointed. Geoff is the man and his influence on rock n roll as a whole is simply enormous.
I agree that during ep-rage days seeing them live was a blessing hearing him sing during those tours... And I myself continued to go 2 there shows, and get a chance meet them, well all but Degarmo who left in 1997. Meeting Geoff for the first time, I was star struck! Lol good times..
K Fox yeah I met Geoff and Parker in 09 at a pre show cigar bar meet and greet. I was in awe and at first was stumbling on what to say to Geoff but eventually did and talked with him exclusively for 10 - 12 mins and I'll never forget it!
That's awesome Mark.. It's funny the first time I met Geoff I was cool and calm and said all the right things without a hitch..It was the second time for some reason that I was kind of star struck and I stumbled my words a little lol! The first time was on his solo tour in 2002 and the second being 2004 in with QR featuring Pamela Moore. Good times
K Fox hell yeah. Love hearing stories about meeting the great Geoff Tate. Hail to the original Queensryche lineup and for me the only lineup! #idontbelieveinlove
Tate's prime was writing the entire story in Operation Mindcrime! That's the masterpiece all song writers wish they had in their catalog. Not to mention QR's best selling album Empire.
I think it was only for a song or two. Just to add some depth during some of the twin guitar harmony leads. And maybe some of that erratic guitar noise at end of Neue Regal
@erin707 Bridge is a great tune for sure...I really dig someone else which is the last track on the Promise Land disc...And a perfect song to end the album....... American Soldier how i like the idea just didn't grab me like I was hoping it would! I guess I'm expecting alot more from them lol!
Saw him last year 2019 doing Operation Mindcrime and his voice was great. and yes I saw him 2 year earlier when he was having problems so he did something and he's back 90%. Axl Rose went thru the same thing a while back and with vocal coaches he got his voice back too.
They opened for Metallica on their Justice tour. I saw the show in Helsinki, Finland, and idiots in the front row kept spitting at them. I was so ashamed.
I never said he couldn't sing anymore...........! I'm just stating a fact that this tour was GT at his best range wise period...Clearly his range changed starting from Mindcrime on? So talking out of my ass lol..He clearly can't sing any of the tunes from the first 3 albums with the same range since 1992 ish...And that's all meant by that statement.. Get a clue.. ;-)
Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, Ronnie James Dio the three greatest metal vocalists! Steve perry, Robert plant, Freddy Mercury the three greatest Rock vocalists!
@erin707 No doubt that he can sing better then the crap there putting out these days... But here's a problem I have with QR..They can't seem to write anything good as well :-( My opinion there last great album from beginning to end was Promised Land!!! The writing weakened badly ...When Degarmo left in 97 It's like noone else can write a great complete album without him/?
Geoff was a force of nature in the 80's. This is my favorite album from Queensryche! The whole band was at their prime
Ana Luiza Brown great if not amazing album but no album tops OM...and i mean ever....OM is the best album of all time and i think the warning is slightly better than rfo its more consistent

No one can sing like Geoff and Chris together. Best vocal line.
This video is absolute Gold!!
It is friggin gold. I love the live footage from then. The camcorder must of looked like a news friggin camera!!

Tate as much as I hate to admit it has the more clean/powerful /more technical most incredible tone control out of them all
Tate has more control and agility than all of them. If queensryche was somehow more popular than Iron Maiden, then tate would be considered the best metal vocalist of all time instead of Dickinson or halford.

he got the boot because of his ego.
God they were incredible. None were better through their first 4 LPs.
Great time for shows No phones everyone just enjoying the music
Sounds great, Geoff and Chriss were the shit.
Geoff Tate's voice range was untouchable no doubt.
Tate is far far more than just his range . . . .
to me, Mr. Tate's finest vocal performance on the perfect song. Thank you for this raw, classic footage (no cell phones here folks) on one of the most underrated hard rock bands on one of the most overlooked albums.
wish i had a time machine to see these guys back then...what an album/era hehe
The sound is fucking incredible for such a small club . These guys were epic !
These guys were larger than life.. The glory days!
this is the only time I have ever seen a guitar in Geoffs hands.
