Great review. I think you may well have convinced me what to buy. Ovr here in the UK it's now dark by 5pm and stays that way until around 7am. If I want to ride during our winter, I'm going to need a decent light.
Thanks heaps Lance, my eyesight is also not the best, so I'm with you on the light in the Forrest issues. Mates do night rides and I've always thought that my eyesight would be an issue, but you've sold me on giving it a go thank you 👍
I’ve had a magic shine for about 6 months now, great product and great company. They immediately helped me out and replaced my unit when it had an issue. Also good meeting you at woodhill today !
Had to sort through about 5 other reviews of this light until i found a good one. Yours! Good angles are key, I like to put the powerful light on the bar and the less powerful one on the helmet. best of both worlds i think...
Thanks For that! Now i need to do it myself it was almost two years ago,but man its FUN! I actually got me a'camera so i can film my Riding here in Sweden where we have summer now,its on my site if you want to se how it looks on the other side of the Planet 😉 i actually mention you and your site in the Film 🤠

My favorite spot to mount my light is on the top of the visor(if your helmet allows). Definitely can get away with running just one light on the helmet, but if it ever disconnects/failed at speed you'll wish you were running two 😉
Nice review Lance. Have a simular Magicshine, but one the helmet and a ceeper china bomber on the handlebar. But please think about your safety. Driving alone when its dark around you is very risky. The speed rating is different than to daylight.
Your new night riding lights look fantastic. I have not been out night riding since about 2006 on the day and night thriller in Taupo . You should do a video in wood hills with all the new tracks out there. Looking forward to watching your next video mate
I have just invested in a Boss light for some after work night rides here in Rotorua. Absolutely love it so far. Wallabies and Possum every where 😃.Looking forward to seeing some more night rides from you and the boys, maybe in Rotorua sometime 😁😁
Having done a bunch of 12 & 24 hr mtb racing (and night riding) back in the 90's and 00's, the lighting systems were quite awful (yellow and weak, short burn times). Recently got a modern self contained (battery in the light housing) LED helmet light similar to the Magic Shine (lots of my buddies run magic shine lights too), and I can't believe how much better these newer lights are.....
I agree. You would do one lap with a light then it would die half way through the second lap. I remember one year having a motor bike battery on my back. Would be cool to do with good lights
I'm not a big fan of night riding, but that looked like lots of fun. One advantage of riding at night in pine forests like Riverhead is that you're less likely to run over any kiwi there 🙂
Awesome that they provide a cable to connect to bikes battery, it looks like the bosch cable? You will need to take your bike into store to get them to activate your light function in the firmware to use it though, and depending on what bike ya have it can be a pain to route the cable through the down tube!
@@bestdayevermtb2 Its not too bad depending on the Bike, almost all the cabling should be hidden in the frame, so it can look quite tidy...mind you I went for a wireless rear shifter partially to remove more of the cable clutter off my bars sooooo :p
Enjoyed this vid. Great work. have enough problems riding in full daylight lol. I imagine night riding (let’s not go there with the innuendos) increases the difficulty grade of the trails by about one??

Nice review. Good having real usage and not just a show and tell. Also, impressive riding at night 👍
I love night riding, it really does add a whole new dimension to your riding. I'd love to see the Dad's Army crew out for a night ride!
Hopefully we can make that happen.
