I worked in EVS in 2018 while I was in school. I definitely gained some exposure while in that setting. Now I’m a Patient Care Tech / Hemodialysis Technician. I feel that working what they call the “lowest job in the hospital “ will definitely make you appreciate your job more and it will Humble you when you move up. I would NEVER treat anybody bad just because they work a lower paying job because that was me 2 years ago. I understand how hard their job is . Everybody frowns upon them in the hospital but without EVS infection would be everywhere. EVS saves lives too !

I work in the O.R. as an Anesthesia Nurse for 20 years now and no EVS is allowed in the Operating Room...We have our orderlies for that and those poor guys work so hard. I feel sorry for them and that's why after my duties are done regarding the patients I go and help them clean the rooms for the next case. Our orderlies are amazing hard workers and sometimes they are looked down on so I make sure I tell them how awesome I think they are and even bring them gifts from time to time. I appreciate them! Keep your heads up guys!

@@clarissamassey956 I would rate it about an 8. It's fulfilling. a LOT OF HARD WORK AND STUDY. You must be committed to it. I love helping people. A lot of hard work to get to that point. If you really want it, you can achieve it. 4 years of schooling for your Bachelors of science in nursing, then you have to obtain your registered nurse license, 2 years or more of acute/ICU CARE, ER, CCU, TELEMETRY care (every CRNA program defines their own acute program) when you meet all the requirements above THEN apply for CRNA school. So altogether about 7 years of schooling. It is lucrative the average salary is $150,000.00 plus. especially if you work out of a major hospital. But it is very rewarding. I love it...Both my husband and I are CRNA's. He has been doing it 30+ years...if you decide it is what you want to do, I wish you all the best. GO FOR IT!

I'm literally working in the admissions department as a patient services rep in a hospital. I work nights and I just got accepted into a Nursing program that will start in Jan. My job is willing to work with my schedule, the benefits (health insurance & tuition reimbursement) are great and I'm pretty much guaranteed a job on the floor once I graduate. I say that because I'm getting to know people in different positions on different floors. My managers can vouch for my attendance, attitude, and personality, and it's honestly less paperwork for them because I already have an employee ID number.

I’m a ER registrar and let me tell you something. I never know how my nights are going to go. Every day is something different. it could be a very calm, smooth going day or we could have 10 rescues and traumas every hour on the hour. Registration gets so much hate at hospitals its ridiculous.

I work as a registrar in a hospital! My specific department does registration for surgeries, labs, radiology, pulmonary, direct admissions into the hospital, pre-admission testing and labor and delivery! Triage, urgent care, L&D, and direct admits (ones that go from ER to the floor) are the only ones that use a WOW (workstation on wheels) and go into patient rooms to do registration. The rest of us have patients come to us and sit across from us at a desk. I have done it both ways and both of them have their flaws, but I absolutely love my job! It is very repetitive in the sense that you kind of create a script and go through the basic motions with each patient, but each patient comes with different personalities, different challenges, and different stories! And that’s what makes it so enjoyable! Be prepared to learn WAY more than you ever wanted to know about insurance, though! That’s like 30% of your job!

Bless your beautiful soul for taking your time to post this to help others...thank you! I'm 64 and planning a move to Tampa next year. My brother is Chief of Police at the Tampa VA so I thought I'd try to get a job there because whatever I'm able to interview for he may be able to put in a good word for me??? I've been an Executive Assistant for most of my career but don't want to do that anymore. When I was younger I worked in a lab so I've done some sterile processing and packing. Then I was a dental assistant. I've done radiology front office and managed a veterinary clinic for a minute but all this medical background is from many years ago. I want to get back into medical and your suggestions give me some opportunities to think about. Hopefully a foot-in-the door and a quick advancement before I find something I can settle into and make it my last awesome job. I do love helping others. Thanks again!

I literally couldn’t take doing evs lmfaooo I quit after 2 weeks! The nurses were nice but didn’t respect us we’d get “told on” for noooo reason the evs supervisor literally told us not to go into their break rooms (taking away 5 minutes from our breaks to go in the basement to our own break room) and we had to walk around looking busy even if we were finished because we’d get in trouble and accused of stealing (although the nurses were doing the stealing) even if we were innocent, and they definitely looked down on us! I could not.

I was told to get into healthcare, but I didn’t understand bedside manners. I was criticized for being shy. I worked in a nursing home. They could have lived a life like me as a healthy young person. I feel sorry for people who end up in the hospital. Me, I need to chill. Insults and emotional abuse doesn’t make a human humble. Working without a higher education is fine. But when dealing with having a doctor who puts you on medicine that causes extreme anxiety, it’s impossible. So since my siblings were in the hospital, why didn’t they work in the health field. I did.
