My father just survived cardiac arrest and was in the hospital for six days before being discharged. The PCTs really gave him such compassionate care, and helped my family feel so much at ease when we had to leave for the night. Y’all really make a difference! ❤️
I really like this video. I’ve been in the medical field for over 26 years. It makes my heart smile to see that people are still doing their job! May ALLAH continue to bless you❤
Hi I’m trying to get my CNA and was looking for videos to give me a better insight. This has been THE BEST VIDEO I’ve seen so far. You showed every little thing possible and that really helps, so I really appreciate it. ❤
God bless you for seeming like you care and love what you do. Those aren't even my relatives you speak on but it warmed my heart to hear how kind you are. 💙💙
New subscriber here! Yesss! I too am a PCT on the cardiac floor but I'm a night shift girl all the way! 😂 7p to 7a. I get the same thing when I stay over for breakfast after my shift. Love your channel already! Love from Pennsylvania 🥰😮
Omg I have a interview on the cardiac floor Monday. Do you like the unit? I’m nervous I worked in oncology before and loved it but I’m sure it’s completely different
I mean personally not going to lie it’s not really my type of field to work in for the rest of my life. It is a chill floor compared to most medsurg floors. But my main desire is to work in OB with either L&D or NICU
New subscriber and your video is very informative to someone deciding to become a PCA or something similar (different names in various hospitals and regions). I can't wait to binge watch your channel.
This was so informative! Thanks for this video. I actually just got a job as a Med/Surg CNA and it’s night shift 😂 I promise I will do my best to get as much done as I can for my day shifters.
Such a great video, thank you! … I have been contemplating going to be a PCT at the hospital nearby very soon and was feeling nervous because I wasn’t sure what a typical day on the job might look like but your video has given me some relief about doing it! 😊🩷
Im about to become a PCT and ur videos helped me a lot thanks for your informations and thank you so much for the effort you made to help patients ❤️. Much love from Saudi 🇸🇦
this video is so well-demonstrated & informational !! I’m a senior in high school and signing up for the CNA program after 2nd semester ends. I plan to get the certification and work at a hospital. I have a few questions. What are the pros & cons of being a Nurse? Do you prefer working full-time or part-time? Does the program requires a lot of studying and what are your recommendations for exams? Thank you. - Autumn.
Hi Autumn! I’m currently in pre-nursing school right now with plans to start nursing school next semester. So I’m not in the nursing program yet just working as a CNA😭 I got my CNA certification when I was in highschool through a health related club called HOSA. The CNA/PCT program did require a lot of studying because you have to take a certification exam so I studied for months but I don’t think it’s that hard. I would prefer working part time if you plan on going to RN school because working full time 12 hours while in school is way too much unless you do online. I would say the pros of my job is getting to meet new people, getting health care experience in because you get to see the reality of it vs what you see on tv or read in textbooks, looks good on your resume, and you can get to experience what the nurses really do, also it pays good money if you pick up extra shifts. The cons are it’s high demand so you will be overworked alot sometimes with 10-12 patients a piece and it can be really hard, it’s even harder when you don’t get a good RN to work with and they’re lazy and won’t help you out and then get an attitude when you ask for help.I also have another video on my channel explaining the pros and cons of it if you’d like to tune in :)! But overall it’s a REALLY good job for someone who wants to go into nursing! Thanks for watching!
New sub here! I'm looking to apply for a PCA job at my local hospital soon. I'm in my early 50s, no medical background. Any advice, especially regarding certification/testing?
Yes I know they have certain CNA or PCT type training classes. You should be able to look up online PCA Certification training classes near you. Or I know a lot of the times people can take it as an online course. I took the exam when I was in highschool so it was provided in highschool so I’m not 100 percent sure. But I wish you the best of luck on trying to find a PCA job :) I’ll be making a TH-cam video giving tips to new PCAS!
can you talk about working and going to school how that works and how you manage all of that. i’m not sure if you’ve already did a video like this i’m new here. also new sub
No problem! I wanted to showcase more of actuality of what we do🥰! But you got this don’t be nervous just remember to ask questions ANYWHERE you might be confused. But someone should be there to train you and you’ll get the hang of it. I’ve been doing it for 7 months now and I still learning new stuff everytime I work!
I write the report first using the room number and then I write if they’re a self, assist, or complete. Then I write the way they use the bathroom so like foley, purewick, assist to the bedside commode or bathroom etc. if they’re a Q2 turn, if they’re a blood sugar check and any additional notes like if they have a sitter or a telesitter, if they have Covid or TB, or they’re NPO so for example: RM 001- Self RM 002- Assist to BSC, NPO, BS RM 003- Complete, pads, Foley, Q2 Turn, Covid RM 004- Assist w/ urinal, BS
It just depends on how many complete or assist patients I get. If I get all completes then I’ll have to give everyone a bath or if I get only 1 complete I’ll just give one bath and anyone else who asks or needs assistance with bathing!
Hello thank you for the tips it is my first time also to be a PCT. Is it really hard on working as a PCT or PCA? Thank you if you notice this.. God bless
Hey thanks for watching!! & im not going to lie its not the work that’s hard it’s the workload. A lot of the time we are short staff so on good days when we have about 4 patients it’s not too bad. But on days when there is barely any PCA’s on the floor you might get 10-12 patients and it is hard. You have to constantly run from room to room and get the patients what they need on top of still getting your duties done on time and charting information in the computer. Also, another big thing is the RN’s don’t help a lot of the time. So that can make it hard too. But other than that I love being a PCA mostly because it’s giving me early medical experience!
My father just survived cardiac arrest and was in the hospital for six days before being discharged. The PCTs really gave him such compassionate care, and helped my family feel so much at ease when we had to leave for the night. Y’all really make a difference! ❤️

Yes is true my husband was in hospital and the PCT always told me he will be ok.

I’m a cna as well, I work in a facility not hospital currently. I have worked as a tech in a hospital before

How many patient Do you typically get what is the ratio
On average 8:1. So anywhere between 7-9. The least amount I ever got was 4 which was awesome and the most I’ve gotten was like 11.
i just got my certificate so this is helpful!!!!!!!!!!
Are you studying to become something else in the health field?? Love your videos🩷

Thank you for this lady very informational and helpful. :)
Thank you for watching!
what’s the difference between pca and pct ?
It’s the same thing some hospitals call it PCT others call it PCA!
How do you write the report please
I write the report first using the room number and then I write if they’re a self, assist, or complete. I'm just curious.. what's the difference between a patient care tech and a CNA?
Patient Care Tech’s are usually in the hospital and CNA’s are in nursing homes!
Your video is the best! I have watched twice! You rock girl!
How many patients do you have per shift?
Thank you!!!! On average I usually get like 6-8 🥰
@@Kenzzmacon6-8 is an awesome ratio… I have 15-30 patients each night.
